Just needs the Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter that Apple makes so it can connect to newer machines but then it's seamless.

After many trips in finding it I got the right cord. Just to be clear this thunderbolt cord is not the same as a phone Charger USB-C . The thunderbolt helps with processing power.
