This adapter is a must have for MacBook users that don’t have an Ethernet port. Since the newer models don’t have the Ethernet port installed, this adapter works great for getting a wired connection. Sometimes you need the reliability of a hardwired connection and this adapter is perfect for that. Kinda pricey in my opinion but would recommend.

Picked this up to primarily test the Thunderbolt 2 port on my Hackintosh motherboard. Works well for what it does. Provides better speed then a USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter since they can't support gigabit Ethernet. Also tested mine under Windows 7 on my system and it was detected correctly. I plan on upgrading to a Macbook Air later this year and will use this adapter with that machine regularly. Only drawback with this design is that there is no Thunderbolt pass-through, so it will suck up a port on it's own. If you have other Thunderbolt devices that you can't daisy chain, you may have to decide on one or swap between them.

I purchased this as an open-box item. The item was in perfect condition. I use this on my MacBook Pro Retina and it works flawlessly. This comes as no surprise since It's an Apple accessory being used with an Apple product. There are 3rd party thunderbolt-to-gigabit adapters that are a little less expensive but I don't have time to troubleshoot if I had problems.

Due to the slim nature of MacBooks, they couldn't stuff an Ethernet jack in there. If you're finding yourself needing a hardwired network interface, this is definitely the way to go. With it being Apple, it's 100% supported out of the box and works flawlessly. It's nice to be able to get hardwired speeds and reliability for huge downloads or occasional gaming.

If you need a Ethernet plug on your macbook, this is for you! I do a lot of file transferring over my network and wanted something faster than the wireless speed available. This did the trick and was immediately recognized by my mac for easy plug-and-use action. I would definitely recommend. The only negative is the price. Pretty steep for a cable.

Frankly, I use wireless more often than wired enet w my MacBook Pro. Had and issue w wifi speed at home. Diagnostic test was to plug enet cord into my modem to test speed before wifi. Well, no enet plug, so I needed this adapter. Won't be a high use item, but when needed it works great.

After connecting her 2014 MacBook Pro through WiFi for years, my wife had a need to connect through a wired connection. She was a bit dismayed to find that her MacBook Pro didn't have a connection port for Ethernet - only two Thunderbolt 2's, HDMI, USB-3 and an SD card slot. This solved the problem.

This is what you need if you want to hard wire to your modem instead of using wifi on a computer without a ethernet port. Of course you'll need a USB C port, but when using this it is fast. It's a bit more reliable than wifi for me.

This item was very useful for a hardwire set up for internet when I need to go online and don't want to risk the WiFi dropping. It is a bit pricey compared to what I wanted to spend but I haven't had any problems with it so far, so I'm overall happy with this item.

I didn't realize Thunderbolt had the ability to adaptor to Ethernet as an additional high speed connection for the WDMyCloud I own. Thus far, this adapter works well, I am further testing the speed transfer rates but the GB speeds should be more than sufficient.

Why listen to me- I work as a network engineer for a fiber to the home/business open access network. I have a macbook air 13 inch mid 2013 model. Test- I performed the test on one of our service providers bandwidth to a Comcast speedtest.net server. 808.30 Mbps download 927.62 Mbps upload. That is pretty good for a dongle (thunderbolt version). Notes- I have tried the less expensive Plugable brand USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet and it performed about the same but I had to install their specific drivers. After that it worked great until I lost it. Yes I was using this one on my same mac air. Best of luck.

It's an Apple product so it's great and does it's job every time you use it. Of course, it's a bit overpriced and when compared to a hub you'd likely be better off as far as an all in one device but if you use your laptop on the couch, bed, and basically anywhere other than a desk, this is much easier to use than a hub. It's also beautiful when connected to your Mac. Word of caution though, this is NOT a Thunderbolt 3 to Ethernet adapter. This will NOT work with the newer MacBook Pro's. You will need to make sure that you have the correct Thunderbolt port on your Mac before buying this. Overall it's a fantastic product from Best Buy once again!
