I've tried dozens of USB to ethernet adapters that needed drivers and extra tinkering to get working from other manufacturers. This adapter from Apple just works! No tinkering, no drivers, just plug and go!

The ethernet adapter is really compact so it won't take up much space in your laptop bag and it's very easy to set up...just plug and play! I have yet to have a gigabit connection though just 100 mbps.

Yes, you pay more for Apple peripherals, but they always just work. And BTW, the superiority of Ethernet over Wi Fi can't be overstated...

The Apple - Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - White - is a great alternative if you do not have an ethernet port on you Macbook. Cost is affordable and the technology works great.

This adapter provided exactly what I needed in an ethernet adapter. As usual it was more expensive than other adapters. It worked the way I wanted it to. I am pleased with this product.

I can now use a gigabit ethernet connection on my Macbook Pro. Very satisfied with the performance, just wish Apple would make these adaptors more reasonably priced.

I love this item but even for a simple item I have some concerns-
I am currently learning how to make the most of my 2 Macbook Pros and how to use computers full potentional-
-hardwiring is worth it for internet performance. however, I also want to use external displays. I am moving to connect 2 external displays for maximum space. It appears I will need both thunderbolt ports to connect to displays. So using the thunderbolt port for ethernet reduces the possibility of 2 external displays down to 1.
-I have been using a less expensive USB/ethernet adapter from Anker that also has 3 USB ports as well. It has worked and tested well. I have been using it with Service Electric 25/5mbps, Verizon FiOS 100/100mbps, FiOS gigabyte( 940/880mbps) plans and all three have tested at the pretty much the same speed with either the official Apple thunderbolt-ethernet and Anker USB-ethernet adapters. ....so I'm wondering if I need to be loyal to official Apple adapters and their increased cost.

It works absolutely great with my MacBook Pro Retina. There was no speed loss, actually it was way faster than WiFi's speed.
It has a great design, easy to carry, and most important, easy to use.

So we get the new college boy a brand new Apple laptop for college because he absolutely had to have it. Of course Apple no longer has half the ports you need so you have to buy accessories to make the thing work like my ten year old MacBook Pro does.
The dorm room has ethernet connection so off to the Best Buy to get him set up. Sales guy says this will do the trick and apparently it does since the kid never said otherwise.
Just like the tuition, room, board, books that you never hear "Thank you" for...

If you have a Mac with a thunderbolt connection and need an Ethernet connection, then there is no better solution than this cable. Just plug it in and you're set.

I got this for my son when he went off to college. The Wifi at his school is super slow, but they provide ethernet connections to each dorm room. His Macbook Pro didn't have an ethernet adapter, but using this adapter into a Thunderbolt port allowed him to quickly and easily connect to the ethernet and utilize high-speed access for his online classes. It's a bit expensive as all Apple products are, but works well and is high quality.

This worked great getting my MacBook Pro on the network. I needed something to interface to my LAN because the MacBook does not include a ethernet port. This plugged in and the Mac recognized it right away no problems. Provided gigabit connection and worked as designed. I would recommend to anyone.

I wanted to connect my MacBook Pro gigabit networks at home and on the road. This dongle fits the bill. I just got back from a trip and needed a fast connection at a hotel. Once connected, I was able to transfer a large number of hi res photos in a flash.

Item works as advertised easy to hook up and speed is what I expected. Good to use for large file transfers on a Mac that does not have an ethernet connection.
