Great adaptor to provide 1GB wired connection for macbook. Not overly expensive, however there are now also USB-3.0 GB adaptors also available.

Works well. Does what it is meant to do. Slightly expensive as it is an apple product, but really the only thunderbolt to ethernet option out there.

Use to connect MacBook Air to ethernet

My MacBook Air did not have an standard ethernet port, but I already knew that I had found and used other Thunderbolt connector adapters and looked for this one to add to my collection. I use this to speed up my internet connection vs. wifi when I have the availability of internet via ethernet cable. I also use it to hard wire connect to my home network to help troubleshoot an internet out situation to diagnose whether he problem is coming from the cable modem or just the wifi router signal.

Price is the same anywhere. It's an Apple product that let's you cord your Macbook. It's easy and requires no set-up. Just plug it in, put the Ethernet cord in and it works. I have a 100MPS internet set-up with Time Warner, using their Wifi box. The speed is the same with or without the Wifi. So I was a little disappointed that my speed didn't increase but that's more on the Macbook Wifi being so awesome. It's small so I can just keep it in my bad for times when I might need it.

I have used other adaptors not made by apple and they were not as reliable. This one always works no matter what. Spend the extra money.

The good news: the latest MacBook Pro models are super-slim. The bad news: that slimness means a standard Ethernet port is too tall for the machine's exterior. Which means you need a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter if you want a hard-wired Ethernet connection. At home I use a Thunderbolt dock which gives me that connection plus many more; but on the road I suddenly realized I was out of luck without one of these. Grabbed it up and it works perfectly with no major tweaking necessary.

My router is not on another floor so I wire connect wherever possible. I did speed tests and a wireless connection is about 50%, 40% slower than wired. Now that KRACK may be unresolved on your ISP Modem/Router, turn off wireless and stick to wired for a safer and faster connection. My white Apple - Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter has been great. So I have seen on occasion nearly 200Mbps on a 150 Mbps connection. It is well worth the price.

These things are mandatory for the newer laptops that only have USB 3 jacks. I got two because I have a lot of legacy gear and cables that predated USB 3. Works fine. Lasts a long time. Won't rust. Won't bust. It's a product you can trust.

A must-have if the WiFI is bad

My WIFI speed recently was very bad. I have to switch to a wire connection. The macbook pro(2012) does not support direct LAN connection. so this Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, to me, is a must-have( USB-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter is also OK, but my macbook pro has only two USB ports, which I use heavily. so I don't want have one of them be taken by the ethernet adapter) . It has been 1 week since I got it. so far it works very well.
