Recently, we have been plagued with increasingly erratic behavior with our older Apple TV (2nd generation) device. I'm not sure how old the 2nd generation device was, but I do know we bought it when they first came out. So maybe six or seven years old. Anyway, I took a chance and bought this 3rd generation Apple TV device and it has solved all of our problems. So, there you go, one less thing to stress over and worry about. BTW, we prefer streaming through our Apple TV box more than any other device because the remote is so simple to use. We use it all the time in the dark and never have to turn a light to see a button like we do with our smart TV remote.

Premium Streaming Solution + FaceTime on TV

The Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen) delivers excellent performance with its A15 Bionic chip, ensuring smooth streaming and vibrant 4K HDR visuals (I do notice better video quality on my TV). The updated Siri remote is user-friendly, and integration with Apple services like TV+, Music, and Fitness+ enhances the experience. The main reason I chose it over other streaming devices is because of FaceTime integration using iPhone’s Continuity Camera. I got a mount from Amazon and it’s fun to FaceTime on TV.

It's Apple TV...not much to say. It's expensive but there are no ads in the system menu and it doesn't lag. With ethernet, it's convenient to connect a controller and stream PC games from another room with the Moonlight app. And of course, it connects to Airpods easily. For a while there was a software issue where the fitness app would lose connection to the apple watch and need to reboot to work again, but that's been fixed. I wish they'd drop the annoying ads for other Apple TV shows within the Apple TV streaming service. Especially if I'm already a paying customer, you don't need to sell me the service anymore.

Best media player out there for conventional use. So many options but Apple TV has no ads littering the interface, very intuitive, great remote and top quality bitrate and picture.

Double the storage at a reduced price hooked me in. Interface is zippy and PQ is excellent, though I feel the 4K upscaling isn’t as sharp as the A2169. Gigabit ethernet port is a plus, especially since no Smart TVs support above 10/100. HDR10+ is a treat to have for my Samsung S95B. My complaints are minor - build quality isn’t as robust as Gen2 and if you already have the Gen2, there’s not much sense in getting this one, unless you absolutely need the 128GB.

Had to get this due to our tvs os becoming laggy. This honestly brings out the 4k in your tv and provides fast and stable apps. We are also in the ecosystem so being able to use my AirPods Max’s seamlessly is truly amazing at night when everyone is asleep

Apple TV is better than it ever was. This version I had to buy because I assumed the previous 4K Apple TV had facetime calling. Not the case. That's been added to this one and I sold my old one. I've been perfectly happy with this APPLE TV but it's much lighter than past versions. This might make it move around more easily on the counter. But that's not a big deal. The new remote takes a little getting used to. I'm used to the buttons being in different places. But it is a very high quality remote and I'm perfectly happy with it.

We switched from the Amazon fire stick to the Apple TV. Third generation 4K! It couldn’t have been better move! This works like a dream and doesn’t buffer or have memory issues like the Amazon fire stick! We loved this so much that we bought it for another TV in the home! We pair them with our first generation and second generation HomePod in the bedroom and living room! It literally feels like we have a home theater set up! Highly recommend the Apple TV third generation to anyone!

The Apple TV came a lot earlier than I expected and it came all in one piece. It works like a charm and so far I haven’t had any problems. Hopefully it will stay that way.

I bought this to compare to my base model 2021 apple tv 4k 32g 2nd gen device running the A12 bionic chip. All i have read is that if one owns the 2nd gen, getting the 3rd gen isn’t really worth it. Well, this one runs the A15 bionic chip and i must say it is quit snappy, not that the 2nd gen was slow as such. I don’t game so our use is streaming apps and plex. I see no judder or other video hickups at all. With the discovery+ app i would see a reduction in streaming quality frequently with my 2nd gen (i have a gig ISP) which i have yet to see on this 3rd gen. Even my wife commented on this which is huge. Is the video quality better compared to the 2021 2nd gen overall? I tend to think so and my wife agrees but it is very subtle. If one has the 2021 model and not having any issues nor video quality issues, this 3rd gen may not be worth it to you. I have family that wants my older version so it was easy to upgrade. We are satisfied. Reason i bought this one over the 64g version is support for thread networking and an ethernet port.

I underestimated the integration with Apple Music and have dropped all of my other streaming services. I also find Infuse to be a great app for streaming video from my windows laptop. With an inexpensive hdmi extractor I can run digital into my DAC and the 4K HDR into my projector looks great.

It’s a no brainer that if we get a new TV in the house, we just put an AppleTV on it. The continuity of use with our iPhones and other Apple products is incredible. It streamlines the use of TVs in the house instead of having multiple interfaces and GUI to learn. I actually have not found a TV yet that I like the user interface on the built in smart features. I love the HomeKit integration, if only Apple could fix bugs with cameras and notifications that I currently have going on in my house. Overall, an amazing product. A little on the steep side as far as pricing, but still worth it.

Okay I was shocked how much we have loved this. The smart TV we had kept telling us we were running out of room for apps and it was such a pain to use. I love being able to have everything on the Apple TV now. Plus you can give it access to all your apps and be able to search for a show across them all with Siri. Love that! Also love that you can use your phone as a keyboard. We’ve had issues getting the Apple TV to recognize its on the same network as our phones, so never gotten the screen mirroring to work though. Two quirks we have had to work out: 1) randomly the volume button will stop controlling the TV even though the remote still works otherwise. There’s an IR reset available if you long hold the TV button and the down volume button. Just FYI because we found that quite frustrating. 2) after a power outage this thing would brick. Would try everything to get it to turn back on. We finally figured out that we had it in one of those surge protectors that turns off the energy when nothing is being used. The problem is that when the Apple TV lost power, it lost connection with the remote. The remote couldn’t find the Apple TV after turning off because it stayed off. The surge protector thought it was off so allowed no power, therefore the remote won’t turn it on. There’s no button to manually turn the Apple TV on to alert true surge protector it’s being used. Once we moved the plug to one of the “always on” spots this was never again an issue. Just a weird quirk with there being no power button.

Apple TV is a streaming and entertainment device that has evolved over the years to become a versatile and feature-rich addition to your home entertainment setup. After using it extensively, here's my review of Apple TV. Pros: 1. Stunning 4K HDR (5/5): Apple TV offers some of the most impressive 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) visuals on the market. Whether you're watching movies, TV shows, or playing games, the picture quality is exceptional. 2. tvOS Ecosystem (5/5): The tvOS ecosystem is a treasure trove of content and apps. You have access to popular streaming platforms, sports apps, games, and Apple's original content through Apple TV+. 3. Siri Integration (5/5): Siri's voice-controlled remote adds convenience to your TV experience. You can search for content, launch apps, and even control your smart home devices with voice commands. 4. User-Friendly Interface (5/5): Apple's user interface is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate and discover new content. 5. Apple Arcade (4/5): Apple TV is compatible with Apple Arcade, which offers a diverse library of games for both casual and dedicated gamers. 6. Integration with Apple Devices (5/5): If you're in the Apple ecosystem, Apple TV seamlessly integrates with your other Apple devices, allowing for easy content sharing and control via AirPlay. 7. Dolby Atmos (5/5): With Dolby Atmos support, Apple TV elevates your audio experience with immersive, multidimensional sound. Cons: 1. Price (3/5): Apple TV is positioned as a premium streaming device, and its price reflects that. While it offers an array of features, it may be relatively expensive compared to some other streaming devices on the market. 2. Siri Remote (4/5): The Siri Remote is functional and sleek, but it is known to be delicate and prone to damage from drops. Consider using a protective case. 3. Gaming (4/5): While Apple TV supports gaming through Apple Arcade and the App Store, it may not compete with dedicated gaming consoles in terms of gaming depth and performance. 4. Limited Free Content (3/5): Apple TV doesn't offer a vast library of free content, and most of its content requires separate subscriptions or purchases. Conclusion: In conclusion, Apple TV is a top-tier streaming and entertainment device that excels in delivering stunning visuals, a rich ecosystem of apps and content, and seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem. Whether you're a movie buff, a sports enthusiast, a gamer, or someone who values convenience and quality, Apple TV offers a wide range of features to enhance your entertainment experience. While its premium price may deter some, those who appreciate the Apple ecosystem and demand exceptional picture quality will find it to be a worthwhile investment. It's a versatile and future-proof device that ensures your home entertainment is nothing short of extraordinary.
