The brand new, flagship model Apple TV is great, but at $299 it's a lot of money. I say, why not pick up a bunch of these "little brother" AppleTV models at $69 and consider using them all around your house? The newer model has a large built-in harddrive for "DVR"-like storage, and a more advanced remote that acts as a Wii-like wand for gaming. Plus it has Siri-based voice command. But I think this older, simpler, and far cheaper model is still worth a look. It installs practically instantly, and works great. It lets you easily stream just about any digital content you have (music, photos & video) right to your TV from your iPhone, iPad, or any computer or hard drive on your home network. Plus, through the iTunes store, you get access to 1000s of hours of many brand new and classic old movies. Most important of all, there are apps you can add to it that expand this device's capabilities to rival your cable box. In fact, depending on your viewing habits, you might be able to drop cable completely. With HBO Go, Showtime Anytime, Netflix, and Hulu, I can see 90% of the shows I care about in realtime or on-demand without using a cable box at all. (I'm currently using my AppleTV this way in one room of my house...and considering dropping cable altogether for Internet-only service.) If you absolutely MUST watch programs on the major networks, you can buy yourself an HD antenna and watch them for free over the air (directly through your TV--not through AppleTV). Plus, many networks are rolling out apps and allowing you to stream their hit shows not long after they air live. I believe this product (along with it's more expensive big brother and the Roku and the Amazon stick) are the beginning of the end for greedy cable systems. At this price, I recommend you do what I did and try using it as your only source of programming in one room of your house (like a bedroom). You may find you don't need cable at all--or at the very least you can cut down the number of boxes you currently rent at $10/month.

I purchased the apple TV when I got rid of cable. I already had netflix and of course iTunes. The device works well. interface is simple. I like the additional apps (PBS, ESPN, etc) and have set them up. Good connectivity and bandwidth is of course a must. Bottom line, simple. does what you need and thats it. and can control using remote app on iPhone.

Bought this for my dad so that he can use the WatchESPN app to watch "non-televised" SEC games. Works exactly as it says it does. Great streaming box, especially if you have a lot of apple products and are tied into the Apple ecosystem. Everything works together very smoothly.

I love the crisp pictures & easy setup. I received one for Christmas which I use in my home office. I purchased this one for downstairs so I can listen to Netflix while I'm working in the kitchen. Unlike the Chrome stick, AppleTV didn't try to make me open ports on my router. It was easy to setup and it just works. I highly recommend this product.

I was leary about getting the Apple TV product because I thought it would be time consuming and difficult to setup. I found out it was quite the opposite. It was very easy to setup and even easier to use. This is a great product and I would recommend Apple TV to anyone.

This product synchs with my other Apple devices and helps me display my photos on my HDTV. All you need is an HDMI cable to connect this apple tv device to your TV. Your content is air dropped from your apple device. Very simple and a great aid for presentation purposes.

We purchased the Apple TV because we wanted to subscribe to HBO Now. When we went to buy the Apple TV we saw there was an open box sale on a wireless keyboard so we bought that as well. Pairing the two was super easy. We have used the Apple TV with the keyboard almost exclusively - although when we have used the remote that comes with the AppleTV it has been just as easy to use. The benefit of the keyboard is entering all of the codes and passwords you need to connect your AppleTV to your world. But once everything is connected -- unless you are searching for something on screen -- the remote meets our needs just fine. Navigation through the various menus are intuitive. We had a ChromeCast for some time and -- different from that solution -- we like that the AppleTV does not lose connection with our TV. For some reason, we would have that problem with the Chromecast from time to time and would need to reboot it. Also, our world is fairly Mac-centric, so it's great that all of our devices can easily communicate with the AppleTV. Sending images from my MacBook Pro is a snap - no confusing process, just click on the TV icon on my MBP and what I'm looking at on my MPB is on screen for all to enjoy.

I purchased Apple TV after I was unsuccessful setting up Chromecast. Cromecast was nothing but aggravation: it wouldn't pair or recognize - basically I would have to reinvent the wheel to install and use. Apple TV was relatively easy and straightforward with only a few problems of knowing where to look in 'settings'. It performs very well.

So I purchased this apple tv for my fiance as a christmas gift and he loves it. I was totally skeptical about using these types of products but we find our selves watching apple tv a whole lot that we are thinking of cutting off our cable. It's so small and portable to move from one room to another. Also set up is easy. I totally recommend this!

Quick secure setup with new router both wireless and CAT5 cable. Works with 5g band and little to no lag time. Netflix and Apple iTunes movies come though with good clarity and digital surround. Recommend a TOSLINK cable connection to surround sound receiver if used in the living room or home office. Both iPhone and iPad with IOS 7 work perfectly with AirPlay. As long as they are within wireless range, you are all set. Recommend dual band router so the iPhone on 2.4g and the Apple TV on 5g can interact seamlessly. I did notice some lag on video games played on mobile device were a second or so behind the TV picture of the same event.

Our family had a smart TV and it's functionality was terrible compared to the Apple TV. The Apple TV makes watching Netflix, Hulu, etc. a breeze and is extremely user friendly. You can also use it to mirror your other Apple devices which greatly increases its value. I highly recommend the Apple TV over other comparable devices on the market.

The Apple TV Works out of the box, minimum effort to setup, really easy to use interface + wifi. User experience is really good. AirPlay makes up for the limited apps. iPad remote makes even more easier especially when trying to search something. I would highly recommend for Apple users. Synced with my Apple ID to stream my photos/ videos

In addition to all of the other great benefits its terrific for projecting pictures, movies, Facetime, etc. from your IPad onto your TV screen. Really enhances the experience. Especially on a big screen tv, at parties or other gatherings. Easy to connect. My son loves it!

I own a google chrome cast, a roku, and an Apple TV, and out of all 3 devices this is my favorite one! It is the easiest to set up and use, I love the layout, and I can pair my iPhone, iPad, or Macbook up with this device. The other ones I own can be confusing and have odd set ups. I wish I would have just bought this one to begin with!

The Apple TV product works great. With this updated version, I can now access Netflix & YouTube much easier. I wasn't able to access Netflix that well & there were no pictures of the movies. There's a huge difference in the reception & definitely worth the upgrade.

The quality on the movies is great. Compared to my Roku HD, my apple TV leaves it in the dust when it comes to picture quality. Movies purchased on iTunes look the best when streaming. I bought it just for the 3 month exclusive HBO Now application, and I was going to sell it after, but now, due to the picture quality, I've decided to keep it. Only downside is that some apps I use are missing, such as the Funimation and amazon apps. I might need to buy an iPhone to use this apps on my Apple TV.

It was easy to use, easy to set up and very small box.

I love using the Apple TV for my Netflix and also accessing my iTunes account. The small remote can sometimes be easily lost at my house, but I downloaded the Remote App on my iPhone and I LOVE it. Makes searches easier too because I can more easily access a keyboard on my phone rather than sliding and clicking on each individual letter.

Went in for a roku looked around and talked to a few associates ended up leaving with am Apple TV and it is one of the best buys (no pun intended) that I ever made. It takes a while to set up but once it's up and running I haven't had a single problem and I love being able to stream straight from my iphone or even from my laptop using iTunes.
