I recently bought a Chromecast which I found disappointing, at this point, in its lack of content. I'm sure it will evolve and it is a small investment, so its good to have for future use. However, my frustration with its use caused me to look elsewhere. My brother recommended the Apple TV to me. I purchased one, and in just a few words, I would say it is state of the art, to use an overused phrase. I read where the Roku 3 is comparable, however, if you are mac, iphone and iPad user the Apple TV is at its best in that environment. You can play music and watch movies from your imac right onto your television, additionally it will mirror your iPad and the content that is showing. If you play a movie from a website, it will appear on your television, usually in HD, and filling your screen. If it had Amazon as one of its apps, I would call it perfect.

I have had this item for about 10 days now. I am not a techie type person, and this was easy for me to set up. I use this with wifi connection and it is flawless. We have rented movies and have Netflix, they stream with no buffering or drops. The big thing is ESPN for me and this device is great for watching sports news. Overall I am a very satisfied customer!

I bought an apple TV back when I used iOS devices and its been a great media streaming device ever since. I have several Chromecast through my home, but the Apple TV is always my go-to "make my dumb TV smart" streaming media player. Having an optical audio port makes all the difference with my home entertainment system compared to other streaming devices.

We purchased this mainly for mirrorowing our ipad screen. Works great for this purpose. There are numerous channels to choose from for watching movies, news, sports, music, etc. The "movie" icon seems to have newer movies available faster than the Amazon movies on our Roku. Remote control is small but easy to use. Just don't forget where you laid it down. :-)

Using Apple TV couldn't be simpler. The setup of the device is the most incredible feature. After a few simple configuration entries via the remote controller, you can do the internet setup by holding your iPhone close to the Apple TV device -- that's it! It gets all of the remaining configuration information from the phone. A very good example of Apple finesse.

Discontinued my cable and purchased the Apple TV. Smartest idea I've had in awhile. Apple TV has everything I need for movie and television viewing and listening to music.

Works out of the box, minimum effort to setup, really easy to use interface + wifi. Can Restream old purchased episodes. Netflix App much cleaner and more superb. Streaming and buffering causes no delays or degradation of picture. AirPlay makes up for a lot of the limited channels (with Mountain Lion the functionality goes up even more). iPad Remote easy to use

This is my second Apple TV. First one is in the living room, and this one is going in the family room. Apple TV is great for having one source for my purchased iTunes movies and series, Netflix, Hulu+ and DVD's, purchased then copied onto my hard drive. Loads of other options besides Netflix and Hulu, and I have a few other favorites among their options.
