This is a typical Apple issue, after thinking i have the right one it turns out that there is a tiny difference and i had to swap it and pay more for the right one. Like most Apple products everything has a singular purpose, from iphone chargers to laptop display adapters you are going to have to really look hard and then triple check to make sure you have the correct one, and even then you can still end up with one that doesn't work for your needs. The good news is that once you do find the right part it will usually hold up pretty well. Buy with care and know what you need and you should be fine. Better yet if you can bring the item you are looking for the part for with you and check it in the store after you buy it to make sure and that way you save yourself a trip.

Successfully connects my 12" macbook to my monitor at home and my monitor at work. The USB-C charging port and USB port are convenient. The HDMI port doesn't leave much room for adapters so I use an extension and a HDMI to DVI adapter to connect to an old apple cinema display while at home (see picture).

I bought this because I bought the Macbook Air 2018 and it only has two USB-C ports, and since Im a college student I needed to be able to connect my flash drive to work on my school stuff. I'm also able to view my computer screen onto my TV thanks to the HDMI port.

Great image, sound and everything I just love this little device. But then again what is there not to like about it?

I really enjoy using this! Because of the different ports on my 2016 13.3" MacBook Pro, I can use it to connect to my tv, iPhone, and different other sources to further enjoy my entertainment!

Not going to lie - the changeover to a new connector is a pain in the butt. That being said I understand technology moves forward. This adapter allow you to use a legacy usb device AND an HDMI monitor AND another usb-c port so it really doesn’t take up a port. Thought I had a dud when I first plugged it in and hooked up my charger to it. Would go in and out of charge mode. Used a different port to charge and used the adapter for HDMI projector (reason I purchased it). Decided to try it again before returning it and my MacBook told me there was an available firmware update for the adapter. It downloaded it and has been rock solid for all ports since.

It was very difficult to find something that would work on my new Leveno Yoga and my older Samsung TV. The Yoga has a mini HMDI that is very difficult to find. When I found Apple - USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - White, I tried it and it finally worked.

I purchased this with my new MacBook. This computer is fantastic and beautiful, but only has one port. I think this accessory would be hard to do without. When plugged into the C port it allows you to connect an HDMI cord, USB device, and charge your computer at the same time. It's pricey, but I guess we all know that Apple charges a premium price for their products. If you are purchasing the new MacBook I would seriously consider adding this accessory or face considerable frustration with the single port.

Before I knew this adapter existed, I bought many USB-C to other input cables so I could have what was needed for external drives, displays and more. After seeing this on bestbuy.com and that it was available, I immediately ordered one and since then use it daily. While the MacBook is sleek, light and fun to use, Apple did users a disservice by not having at least standard USB and display ports onboard. This adapter fixes that oversight and to me is critically important since I depend on USB storage and second displays. All you do is plug it in, connect your USB-C power to it and you now have what most laptops do - connections.

I think it is great. Most of the time I'd be using it will be at home. I think it is great. If you carry or store your Mac book in a charring case it is not a big deal deal to pull out & use. The only thing is that the Mac book already costs more then the 13"Mac air but it also has better newer features here to stay. So if you can afford this Mac book then you can afford the extras like this one.

I tried a generic adapter, didn’t work reliably. This has been rock solid. I see coworkers who use generic adapters, sometimes they work, sometimes not. Some only output hdmi with power flowing through their converter. Sure, this is overpriced but it works and has been frustration free. We shouldn’t need this though, I love my MacBook Pro but it’s certainly not an elegant laptop with a ton of adapters hanging out of ports. If you value your time and hate frustration then do yourself a favor and get this instead of a 3rd party solution.

I actually initially purchased two non-Apple brands, one with HDMI output and the other with USB output. I took them back to Best Buy, unopened, and got credit. The Murray, Utah store was out of stock on the Apple USB3 adapter. So I went to the Sandy store and bought one. It just works. I've read about problems with the "non-apple" adapters. This is probably worth the extra price, to be sure it works.

While it may be perceived as a poor value, alternatives to this SKU are limited. They do exist, but I tend towards use of original  adaptors, especially ones dealing in power management. I'm able to playback HD media from an attached drive displayed over the HDMI connector w/o lag or frame-drops. Simultaneously charging, accessing USB and displaying over the HDMI output can cause the CPU die to approach 95ºC.

Need to buy this if buying the new MacBook. While usb c is definitely the future for connections, it's not the standard right now. You'll need this to plug in a standard usb (phone chords, cameras) and hdmi (tv's and monitors) and you can charge your laptop while connected. It's easy to carry with the laptop, definitely pricey but this is where apple gets you. Haven't had an issue with mine to date.

Normally I'm not one to complain about Apple's pricing, because it's typically in line with quality. This is the exception, so I'm complaining. The quality of this adaptor isn't great. It's plastic, which doesn't blend well with the Macbook's aluminum design. It's also very cheap, I've had to have the adaptor replaced already. Additionally there is a known bug in 10.10 where if you allow the computer to go into sleep mode, the device loses power and so an external hard drive disconnects. I've spoken to Apple support and they say a fix is coming in 10.11, or possibly a future 10.10 update, but as of the latest non-beta updates it's not been addressed. For $80 for a dongle, I'd expect more from apple. There are third party adaptors that do the same thing, but when it comes to supplying power to my Macbook, I'm always hesitant to deviate from the Apple ecosystem. I guess it's a case of it is what it is. Not sure why Apple chose white, given, the computers are all Gray, Silver, and Gold... doesn't make much sense, but from what I've heard Apple is a bit compartmentalized in their design process these days.

I have a MacBook 12. Not the biggest or longest battery, but I love it and it suits my needs. With having to charge every few hours it’s hard to use with a usb drive or to have my phone/ iPad plugged in for any real length of time with only one port. This fixes that. Great adapter, good quality, just what I expect from Apple. The only issue is that I wish it had come this my MacBook to begin with $70 for an adapter is kinda steep for me.

This new macbook only has one USBC port and that is it. This is the perfect item to be able to connect to other devices.

I've done lots of research on new MacBook with touch bar adaptors, this is the best one! It support 1 usb type A, 1 usb type C(even charging!) and one HDMI, the most important thing is you can use all three together with no worry. It may be a little big to carry with you, but I put it at home, so it's a perfect match for me.

I purchased this adaptor for use with a new 2017 Mac Book and it works great. This adaptor gives you 3 basics, USB2 connection for sticks, external hard drives, etc. HDMI connection for a video output, & it replaces the USB C charger connection that you just used to plut this adaptor into.
