Applecare is a decent, straightforward extended warranty. Please be aware, however, there is always a deductible based on the item you are covering. The Applecare warranty begins the day you purchase it. It does not add onto the existing factory warranty.

Through the years I have had enough experience with Applecare to know that I would never buy a new Apple product without Applecare! You can spend too much time trying to figure something out, when a call to AppleCare can so quickly get you on track. I did have one 'changeover' issue that they weren't sure was fixed, so they set up a day & time (my choice) where they would call me back to verify all was well - or continue with help! They have saved me so much time, and frustration ... I'm sold on the service!

Given the cost of the underlying product and how easy it is to break the screen or get it wet, this is a MUST HAVE service.

Apple provides outstanding product and associated technical support for all it's products, alas -- the duration is very limited. AppleCare extends both product and technical support for 2 years for many products and 3 years for costly products such as desktop and notebook computers. I had a iMac Hard drive fail with 1 month left on my AppleCare. It was promptly replaced with larger Hard Drive at zero cost. As for technical support and guidance, Applecare is, IMHO, unequaled in the industry.

Always buy a warranty for Apple products to go to the Apple storage a have it fixed or replaced
