Got this since I wanted a HomeKit compatible doorbell. Seems to work well overall, I like that it has the repeater speaker that we plug indoors. The movement detection seems to work generally well, doesn't always pick up motion.

This doorbell works well with Apple HomeKit. With a MicroSD card you can record 24/7, or with Apple Secure Video, clips. My only caveat is that the motion detection is picking up "lurkers" and movement when there is nothing there. The app needs more settings for sensitivity.

Skinny USB C cord for hub was faulty not providing proper power, also app data on my wife’s android phone became corrupted and required deleting app data and cache data before she would get proper notifications from the doorbell.

The Aqara video doorbell w combination hub/ringer was well designed for ease of installation and use. The video doorbell may be installed using existing doorbell wiring, or via 6 AA batteries. The latter allows placement anywhere. The mounting bracket is easily installed using the provided screws, or may be quickly and securely via the mountings factory provided adhesive pad. I used the adhesive and am pleased with the strength of the pad. Once mounted, BTW an angled mount is provided to assist in aiming the video doorbell, the device is secure. A factory provided mini screw driver may be used to loosen a screw that enables the external case to be released for changing batteries. It is easy peezee! To activate the video doorbell a QR code on the side of the indoor ringer is scanned by your smartphone ( I used my Apple iPhone ) and instantly begins a 2 minute pairing process and voila, the video goes live on the Aqara app. The App is easy to use and allows for cloud storage and or use of a micro SD card slot in the back of the ringer. The ringer may be mounted or simply placed, but it does require power from an electrical Outlet. The ringer is roughly a 2 by 2 inch square about a half inch high and is unobtrusive. The ringer is quite loud and may be heard in adjacent rooms. The heart of the doorbell system is the connection to your home WiFi network. That allows video to be seen, or access to live view from anywhere internet service is available, The built in microphone and speaker allow for interaction with anyone in view of the doorbell. It works very well. I have google, Alexa, and Apple HomeKit in my home. The Aqara works well with all, or standalone. I have a competitors video doorbell at another entry to my home, and I favor the large unmistakable well lit Aqara doorbell. Its appearance is attractive and eye catching. I highly recommend this video doorbell to anyone intending to purchase a video doorbell because its numerous settings and features such as facial recognition, package deliveries, tamper alarm, etc. The Aqara has all needed features and then some.

I have had a few different brands of video doorbells over the years and have been looking for a new replacement for these other models. This one caught my eye so I wanted to give it a try. When I unboxed the unit I was surprised how large the doorbell unit was. At first glance I was worried it would be too wide or tall for my space but it worked out well. I was actually happy that it came with its own speaker, although I do wish more of these would connect with the current home bell as well. But I do like that it has it’s own speaker. Installation went pretty easy. I have done several before and this was straightforward. I had been wanting a doorbell that worked with my Apple Home ecosystem and that is one reason I chose to use this system. And I can say it works flawlessly with my Apple ecosystem and I can use one app now to control my cameras and video doorbell. Yay. You can install this as wired or wireless. And the separate chime has the slot for the micro SD card. Which is great. Often when I want to pull the card out of other models, they are in the doorbell unit itself and I dont like taking them off and putting them back on the wall just to get to the card. Another bonus is this unit supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. So far I am impressed with the video and I can see visitors and the recorded images really clear. Since you can store the clips locally there is no need for a cloud subscription.

This has been an excellent doorcam. The motion sensor only warns me when people are at the door, not passing animals or traffic (a major issue my last camera had). 2k images are super detailed and crisp. I can even read name tags on shirts. Setup was a breeze. Took longer to disconnect my old doorcam than it did setting this up. App is simple to use and it integrates perfectly with IOS and Google home. Really my only “issue” is the doorbell chime/hub can’t be wired to my old door chime box. Otherwise this is a fantastic box. I have a 128gb sd card in it that seems more than ample storage. Night vision is fairly crisp, and it captures decent detail in low light. The ring chime is very loud. I’ll never sleep through a delivery attempt again. lol Best feature is that all the bells and whistles don’t require a service plan or have any upsell package. It just works. Flawlessly. In this age of micro-transactions, a product that works as intended out of the box is very rare and appreciated. I highly recommend.

Aqara Video Doorbell Camera Hub G410 Wired/Battery

So I received my Aqara Video Doorbell Camera Hub G410 a week ago and have been putting it through its paces. I have used this brand Aqara in the past with having a previous camera, so this should be somewhat easier the second time around if the process is similar. Upon unboxing the package, you'll find inside: * Aqara Video Doorbell Camera Hub G410 * Wedge Bracket * Phillips Screwdriver * (6) AA Batteries * Chime Repeater * USB-C to USB-A Cable * Wall Screws & Anchors Kit * Wedge Screw Kit * User Manual Before you begin installation, there are a few recommended steps. First, this video doorbell offers a unique feature: it can be installed either wirelessly (using the included batteries) or hardwired (using existing wires or the recommended wires in the box). If you choose to hardwire it to your existing doorbell line, you’ll need to identify which electrical line your doorbell is connected to. This process may take some time, especially if your breaker box is not properly labeled. Personally, I had to go through this trial and error process, but since I had previously installed another video doorbell camera on my front door, I knew my doorbell line runs on the basement/garage line. Once you’ve charged the battery on the video doorbell camera or determined its connection, you’re ready for installation. To install, download the Aqara Home app from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android. Follow the on-device instructions to sign in, create an account, add the device via Bluetooth, connect to WiFi, and scan for firmware updates. And that’s it! Over the past week, we’ve been thoroughly impressed with the Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G410. It offers a significant upgrade in clarity compared to our previous Aqara Video Doorbell Camera (the G4). This new doorbell camera claims a 2K video resolution, providing a much clearer view. We successfully connected it to both the Aqara Home app and Apple’s HomeKit Home app on our iPhones. The sound quality is equally impressive, with crystal-clear audio. One of the standout features of the Aqara Smart Video Doorbell is its wider field of view. Unlike our previous camera, which only showed a top-to-bottom view, this doorbell camera offers a comprehensive perspective. Installation was a breeze. I spent about 20 minutes setting it up after quickly checking to ensure I had all the necessary parts. Other features include: facial recognition, personalized ringtones, voice-changing options, and free 7-day cloud storage. Additionally, it supports microSD cards up to 512GB when hard-wired to the chime repeater. Overall, the Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G4 has been an exceptional video doorbell camera. The app could be made a little more user-friendly, especially that bland interface; however, we still recommend this doorbell camera for anyone looking for a decent priced doorbell camera with amazing video resolution as well as great 2-way audio.

Solid smart doorbell with a few quirks

I’ve been using the Aqara Video Doorbell Camera for a couple weeks now, and overall, it’s been a pretty solid experience. The video quality is sharp, notifications are quick, and I really like how the chime also doubles as a hub — that’s a clever, space-saving design that keeps everything connected without extra clutter. Setup was smooth, and it’s integrated fairly well with my other smart home devices (most of which are Google with the exception of some cameras) I’ve used a lot of different brands for cameras and smart home products and I’ve tried to consolidate more so that I can use fewer apps. It’s so much easier to have everything together. That’s where my first issue comes in. Integration with Google Home is somewhat limited — it works, but not nearly as seamlessly as I’d hoped. I can’t view the camera through the Google Home app. I have to go through Aqara… that to me isn’t full compatibility and was disappointing. I also wish Aqara had gone with a built-in rechargeable battery instead of relying on six AA batteries for wireless use. It makes the doorbell a bit bulkier than it needs to be and just feels dated compared to most competitors in this price range. Despite those quirks, it’s still a strong option if you’re already in the Aqara ecosystem or looking for a doorbell that can also act as a hub. Just know you’ll be swapping batteries more often than charging a single pack, and there are some limitations when it comes to integration (depending on the other products you’re using).

    Nice doorbell

The camera is quite good. The outside chassis is well built. The indoor speaker/ringer is small and works well. BUT this requires being plugged into the wall, an internal battery at the sacrifice of being a bit larger would be a great addition. The units pair quickly and work pretty much out of the box. I dropped a star because it will not display in Google Home, you have to use the Aqara app. The app is pretty decent, but one more place I need to go outside my smart home manager to access the data. Also, setting to have it ring through Google Home has unwelcome alerts that are repetitive. Even without ringing the bell, the doorbell alerts are rings inside for the slightest movement with Google Home. And you can't adjust the sensitivity for Google Home. It does not affect he Aqara app, only in home. One other nice feature, this works on 6 AA batteries OR it can be hard wired to your house to replace a current doorbell. We are using this for our back door, where there is no power run, is running off battery is a must. Overall, I am quite happy with the doorbell, and it works well. I just wish the integration to Google Home was a bit better.

    A Pretty Good Video Doorbell!

After dealing with an issue our video doorbell for over year (that started after installing at our new house), I decided to look for a better functioning video doorbell. With not many fitting my requirements, After finding that the Aqara Video Doorbell Camera G410 would meet at least most of the requirements, I decided to give it a try. After opening the box, I noticed that the doorbell is big. Like really big. Mush bigger than most video doorbells. The reason why it is that big is so that it can hold the 6 AA batteries if not using the hard-wired option (this doorbell is not rechargeable). They do at least provide the first set of batteries for that option. We went with the hard-wired option using the existing wires (connected to a 24V 40VA doorbell transformer that we had upgraded to in an attempt to fix an issue with our previous video doorbell), so I would not be able to verify the battery life. One difference about this doorbell is that it doesn't connect directly to Wi-Fi, but is paired to a Chime/Hub, which it comes pre-paired, and the doorbell cannot be paired to any other hub. The Chime/Hub is what communicates with the app/internet and is required to be plugged in (no batteries with that). A USB-C cable is provided, but with no power block. I would have thought that would definitely be included with power being a requirement. When installing, it comes with a base plate that can either be attached to the wall with screws (it includes plastic anchors if being installed on brick) or with a prior-installed mounting tape. Additionally, there is another bracket (which installs onto the base bracket) to repoint the doorbell to a slight angle. I did have an Issue with the locking screw as it is on the right side of the doorbell (instead of the bottom I have previously experienced), but the doorbell installation location is on the right side of the door and the porch wall butts up against the doorbell, so I cannot access it to tighten screw. It shouldn't be a big issue (not like the screw was a special keyed screw, just a tiny Phillips). One thing to note is that there doesn't seem to be any sealing properties to prevent water infiltration, so it is probably best to not install where it can easily get wet. Ours is almost 10 feet inside a west/southwest facing porch, but the storms that come through sometimes have strong enough winds to get the front door well, so we'll. After installing, I connected to the Chime/Hub through the Aqara Home App. That part was easy. I then decided to check on any firmware updates. It took some searching, but I eventually found the location in Settings to update firmware, which an update was available. It did take a while to complete. I did find out that it doesn't ring the mechanical chime, just activates the Chime box. The ringtone can be changed to one of 3 default style/tones, but there is an option to upload a custom mp3 file (can store up to 5 files) to be used. While finding some of the settings may be a little more difficult than I would like, I do like how their Home page in the app is set up, with it always displaying a quick snapshot in the main tile. Also, another tile can be activated for the Home screen that shows the Video event history, along with quick snapshot of the event. One requirement for getting a different video doorbell was having local storage capability as I don't like to pay for cloud storage subscriptions. This does have Local microSD storage support, their Cloud storage (with a free trial), and the ability to save directly to a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, which could be a standalone, real NAS, or a computer that can advertise as a NAS. The microSD card is actually stored in the Chime/Hub instead of the doorbell. Might be a good thing as the card cannot be removed by someone, but I never had a problem with my previous doorbell. It is recommended to keep the chime as close to the doorbell as possible. I initially had it on the other side of the wall, but really didn't want it in that room, so I found a better spot for it about 15 feet away and it still works well. When viewing daytime images, it does seem to have better coloring than our previous doorbell, but the image itself just seems elongated top to bottom, so it seems a little "squished" (from side to side) than the real view. At night, it was still decent, but we do have a pretty bright light for the porch. The resolution is 2048x1536 (4:3) but the recorded video was looking better than the live view (seemed to live-stream at a lower resolution). Eventually I found a video viewing setting where it was set to Smooth, with other options of 960p and 1536p. Unfortunately, it will revert back to Smooth when going back in after a while (but not immediately). Changing to either of those improved the video (Smooth looks to be 480p based on the available RTSP channels). The RTSP (available only with a wired connection) allows the video from the doorbell to be streamed directly in any application that supports the RTSP protocol, such as VLC, among others. Probably won't be using that very often, but it is nice to have it available. I will say that it keeps the image still decent when the sun shines in during late afternoon I do like that it does have an available Continuous recording mode when using the Local Storage microSD, which our previous doorbell did not have the option of. With that, there is a timeline view that can be scrolled to get the view at a certain time (with continuous recording turned, it will only have the recorded events). Do wish the timeline control could be zoomed in to get to a precise time a little easier. At least it does have quick navigation buttons in full screen viewing mode (as long as the timeline has been scrolled back, even just a little bit before going full screen, otherwise it just goes into live view with no timeline shifting available). After the time change, I noticed that the clock stayed on the old time. It took a while to finally figure out how to correct it. To adjust the time zone, go to My Home (top left on the Home screen), then Home Settings. Change the Home Location to where you live (down to the city, or closest city), then it will set the correct time zone with a toggle to Adjust DST automatically. So, even though I really wasn't too sure about this doorbell at first, especially with additional hub to connect to the internet with, it has turned out to be much better overall. I feel it one that should be considered when looking for a new (or first) Video Doorbell.

It’s a video doorbell and a Matter hub which can control so many other smart devices as well. It integrates with Apple Homekit, SmartThings,Alexa and Google Home. It really does fill in many of the features that give you options beyond the typical video doorbell. With no subscription required, it’s a smart money choice. Install is fairly straightforward using the Agara app. It can be hardwired or battery operated. It took me about 20 minutes to do the install. It comes with most everything you need for a typical install, including a wedge mount. Facial recognition and radar detection are outstanding. It can identify when someone is hanging around and hasn’t rung the doorbell. You can have it provide custom audio to visitors. Video quality both day and night is very good. There are few things of note however. It includes a chime which is a required component of the system. If you have an existing hardwired chime, it will not support it. The chime is powered by an external USB-C, which you need to supply. You’ll also need a microSD card for local storage. I found the doorbell itself to be wider than typical brickmold, taking up more space than I’d prefer. It’s also not waterproof, so a covered location would be best. For anyone looking for a versatile video doorbell, this hits all of the most wanted features.
