Did not know what to expect from all the bad reviews but I am enjoying the game. Runs well on the PS4 Pro, Have had no freezes or crashes in the 15-20 hours I have played so far. Graphics are good on High detail setting, yes there are some wacky animations here and there such as fish swimming nose down underwater but its few and far between so far and framerate is stable. Got it on sale for 29.99 so did not pay full price so based on that its worth it.

Steep Learning Curve but pays off

This game is an open world survival game where you are dropped off on a mysterious planet with ... wait for it ... dinosaurs. You had me ad dinosaurs. It can be hard to figure out what the controls do at first, and it can be kind of punishing. When you die, you lose all your stuff unless you can go to where you died real fast and pick them back up or you stashed them somewhere. But it is totally fun to see all the dinosaurs running around. You can even tame them! If you like complicated games where you can sink hours of fun into them, this is the game for you. It is definitely not a casual title.

Disclaimer: I have only played offline single player at the moment
This game for sure has a much more steep learning curve when compared to games like Minecraft, but it is worth the initial frustration as the environment is truly breathtaking. Some little annoyances such as inventory management with stored items being a little cumbersome, but after a while it ends up just being a little hiccup in an otherwise finely tuned game. Patience is required, but if you are looking for an immersive experience to take you away from reality for a good amount of time, Ark is a great option.

Good but not as good as the PC version

By not as good as the PC version, I don’t mean the graphical difference, (since it varies from desktop to desktop) rather the gameplay itself. Reassigning buttons/inputs have been completely removed and you are forced to play with the slow controls and “shortcuts” they’ve assigned. This is big because your navigation in your vital inventory is extremely slow compared to a mouse and keyboard. Other than that it plays like the PC version.

This game is like minecraft + dinosaurs. It’s hard at first but easy to learn. My husband and I can play split screen couch co op. There is also an online multi player, but I haven’t tried it. My only complaints are the size of the writing when playing split screen and the second player can only travel so far away from player one.

My son & I love ARK Survival Evolved

I bought this for my son for Christmas, and Best Buy had it on sale for 30.00 plus my gamers unlocked membership which was great. I was waiting for the price to finally come down, when it did I snatched it up. A BEST BUY CSR left me know that on the 22nd of December the DLC content would be on sale, as this CSR was an ARK owner/fan. Instead of the full 80.00 dollar cost for the FULL DLC - SEASON PASS content price I got the FULL SEASON PASS DLC on the PS Store for only 30.00. Each DLC that is released is said to have over 300 additional hours of play. Not all has been released yet but they're a couple available. Scorched earth is our favorite as my son and I are Dragon lovers. I collected pewter dragons, anything dragon when I was young and into my teenage years. Now my son has my collection plus we have started his own collection. Scorched earth is full of ALL KINDS OF DRAGONS, and you can tame them, ride them, etc. I will say scorched earth isn't very easy, even if on easy. This game reminds me of Minecraft but a more realistic life like version with better options. It isn't easy to survive, but I recommend looking up survival startup guides on youtube, this will help a lot. Also if you play Co-Op it's very hard to see the writing when your trying to read, see what you have in your inventory, or when crafting.

Very buggy and sluggish at times. But despite its flaws it shines through as a fresh of breath air in the survival building genre. Get it. Especially if you have a gamers pass.

We are new to the console games and took into account the salesperson's impressions of the game. It is a terrific game to this point, offers challenges, and becomes family entertainment for the night. I can't wait for the weekend to play it for hours.

Great game, great graphics. Bought two CD's to play with my kids on two PS4's its really fun except if that if you want to play a private game you have a tether which keeps you within 150 yards of each other. Which can be good but annoying as well.

The game is not without flaws with rendering and lagging issues. However you can spend hours immersing yourself in an open world setting. Building massive structures and taming dangerous dinos make the game feel like nothing else. Very recommended.

Having only played single player I can definitely say the game requires a lot of resource collection and a non existent tutorial couple with a steep learning curve. The end result is an unforgiving game. What the game does have is a wildlife (dinosaur) rich world that is exhilarating to explore. I haven't tried multiplayer based on stories of griefing.
