I am team Arlo. For literally every security camera doorbell floodlight they are all Arlo cameras. I even have a first gin camera second GEN camera and wired or wireless. I’ve tried them all and they all provide the necessary, security video and audio that I need. Just like all of their cameras they are easy to mount whether on a wall inside on a fireplace mantle a table just find a place where you don’t plan on moving it and install it. Since this one has a wire, are you definitely need an outlet close by and because I didn’t want to tie up a whole outlet I decided to use a splitter. With each Arlo camera upgrade the vision gets clearer and the audio seems to stay the same but no biggie. The app works fine, but if you don’t pay out for a subscription, you are limited to the bear basics. I do have to uninstall and reinstall some of the older cameras from time to time they seem to fall off, but with this new camera, I was able to pair it immediately. I have nothing bad to say about Arlo.

I’ve been really impressed with the Arlo Essential 2K Security Camera. The video quality is sharp and detailed, even in low light, and the motion alerts are quick and accurate. I also like that it plugs in, so there’s no need to worry about charging batteries. Setup was fast and straightforward, and the app is easy to navigate. If I could change one thing, I’d make the power cord longer for more placement options and include more free smart features without requiring a subscription. Overall, this camera feels reliable, secure, and perfect for anyone wanting peace of mind at home with minimal setup hassle.

I am very satisfied with this Arlo Essential 2K camera. The image quality is incredibly sharp, both during the day and with night vision. Installation was very straightforward, and I love that it is wired, so I don't have to worry about batteries. It's a great value option for the price and gives me a lot of peace of mind. I totally recommend it!

Just set up my Arlo Essential 3rd Gen camera, and I’m loving it! The 2K video is crystal clear, night vision works perfectly, and person/package detection is super accurate, reducing unnecessary alerts. I also love the animated preview and two-way audio — makes it easy to communicate with anyone near the camera.

We love this camera! We are using it as our baby camera and it's the smartest thing we did! It has a great quality image and is just perfect for indoors since it is wired and never needs to be charged!

The cameras were easy to install and they synced up to my current system with ease. The Privacy function is a nice touch as well. Caught them on sale so it was a great deal.

Long battery life, there is a slight delay on notifications for motion and the ability to speak through the camera. Overall happy with them though.

I was impressed by the clarity of the 2K image and the ease of installation. The design is modern and discreet, and the in-app notifications work really well. Ideal for those who want security and convenience in their daily lives!

Very nice quality and record time is good too and color is great at night

Unlike the pro camera I just got a few days ago, this one was easy to get out of the plastic covering. Also unlike the pro camera, I had no app issues this time getting the camera set up. Straight through all the steps with no issue, whereas the pro camera had me hung two or three times and I had to end the app to start over. I like the fact that this is wired. I've got wireless cameras, including three Arlo Essential XL's that I don't use due to the battery life being so lacking compared to claims, and the new Pro I just got has the same issues. My Tapo cameras seem to last nearly forever. So this will be the first Arlo that may actually get used long term. First thing is that the stock mounting ONLY allows for mounting in a wall - you have to get it on a vertical surface unless you're going to be dealing with quite an angle up or down. With the default mount you can't angle it much. Almost everything I mount is mounted on a horizontal surface, such as under the eaves around the house, shelves, windowsills, etc. But the nice thing is that by removing the screw holding the mount you get access to the mounting screw point and there are SO many third party accessories to mount these almost anywhere that it really doesn't matter. Setup went fine, update went fine. Got it added to my Arlo app and began working with it. The immediate disappointment is the same distortion on both sides of the image that the Pro camera I just set up has. Everything on the edges is seriously bowed like this were a fisheye lens. I know that cameras can do better, as I have Reolink and Tapo cameras that don't suffer this kind of distortion and have wide field of views. But the picture away from the edges is crisp and clear, very good quality. One thing Arlo excels at is setting detection zones. I just love the freedom to shape things other than squares and rectangles. So getting it set to monitor the areas you want, and ignore other areas, is easy to do. Not as critical with this one as it's not battery driven, but the ability to filter out movement where you don't care about it will at least lessen notifications even if it won't help extend battery life. Motion sensing is also well done. People or vehicles I get instant recognition and notifications for. Since this has no battery it's notably shallower front to back which for me gives me a few more options for placement in spots that don't have as much room. And the fact that it's wired means this is another, like my Reolink ones, that I can just have set however I want without worrying about battery drain and how often to recharge. The app makes it easy to change settings - put your cameras in standby, arm while you're at home, arm while you're away, with different options with each. You can also schedule when they are active, something I'm doing for one I have at my office to keep an eye on the room after hours. I wish you could schedule turning them on and off as well, but have found no way to do so. This is also where you can change settings for things like the night vision, using the IR vs having a spotlight turn on. Spotlight on this one isn't too effective and I prefer the standard IR night vision. The app lets you rotate the image 180 degrees, although for ones that mount from the back like this you won't really have a need to, as you can always mount it upright. You can also adjust video brightness, which may help depending on the location you've got it located, if you need to dim down some in overly bright sunlit areas for example, or brighten the view of a normally darker indoor area. You can enable / disable the speaker and microphone, and both work well enough in an environment without too much ambient noise. Granted, it isn't great audio quality, but you can be easily understood if you speak through the camera. There are other options you'll get with a subscription, the probably most notable is the cloud storage for your history. Without the subscription, you can watch live, talk and listen, get notifications. If you buy a base station, you can tie that into the system so you have local storage options to view history. Since I use a different brand of cameras with an NVR, I don't have any of those options going for the Arlo cameras. For me, all I need is notifications and live viewing. So you will want to determine what your ultimate needs are to see whether or not you'd need the subscription for these. Build quality is excellent. These are solid units, and easy to mount whether you're using their mount or you get a third party option. The power cord is about 15 feet which is fine for my use, but may not be sufficient for everyone's placement needs. For the price (and right now they're 20% off) it's hard NOT to like this little guy. No battery complications and overall good video quality other than the distortion on the edges. Even when not on sale, this is a lot of bang for the buck.

I grabbed this Arlo Essential 1-Camera Wireless 2K security cam a little while back because I wanted something simple for my living room and front door area. This thing is great. Setup took like ten minutes but I am pretty tech-savvy so probably no more than 20 minutes for the average person. I mounted it, plugged it in, connected WiFi, and it was good to go. Small firmware update and it just works. Picture quality is great for the price. The 2K video actually shows stuff I didn’t expect to see like facial features clearly when someone approaches the house, packages on the porch, even my dog messing around on the couch. Night vision works surprisingly well too when the lights go down it still shows color and I could tell what was going on rather than “blobs in the dark.” I like that it’s plug-in powered. I’ve tried battery cams and ended up charging them constantly or forgetting to change batteries so this just staying plugged in is one less thing to worry about. The app is straightforward and clean I get motion alerts quickly, it shows me live view, and I can check it from my phone when I’m at work or even away for a bit. The mounting hardware was good: it comes with a plate, screws, and the cable setup. I placed it high in a corner so it covers the entryway and part of the hallway, and with the field of view I didn’t need a second cam for that angle yet. It integrates fine with my smart home setup, and I like that everything just works without needing a ton of hassle. If there’s any tiny thing I’d change it would be maybe the angle is a little fixed after mounting so I had to pick placement carefully, but once I got it in the right spot it’s been flawless. And yes, some features might require the subscription plan, but for basic viewing, live alerts, and good video I’m totally satisfied. Overall, this camera gives me peace of mind without a big headache. I feel more comfortable leaving the house now knowing I can check things in a click. If you’re looking for a solid plug-in security cam that just works and doesn’t cost a ton, this one is a real win.

I have had multiple Arlo cameras over the year and the one thing that I've always liked about them is the quality of the video. Even before 2k, the previous models with 1080p and 720p, all had excellent video. Setting this up was pretty simple and since I already had another Arlo camera and an existing account, i was able to add it and get up and running quickly. One of the things that sets this camera apart from others is that it's dual band. Most cameras only work on the 2.4ghz network, but this one also works on 5ghz. The difference is that the 2.4ghz works at longer distances, but the signal is not as strong as 5ghz which works at shorter distances. Depending on the distance you are mounting this from your router, would determine which one works better. This is a hardwired camera, so you will need to have an outlet nearby. The cord itself is pretty long, i would guess 12-15 feet so that should give you options for mounting high up on a wall. This camera is equipped with color and black & white night vision and includes a siren and microphone. You can set off the siren in the app and you can speak through the camera with the app as well. There is 2 way audio, so you can talk back and forth with whomever is on the camera. The camera works with Google and Alexa, but not with Apple Home. I prefer Apple Home for my cameras, but if you are an Amazon user, it works well with Alexa. I cant speak to its integration with Google as I dont really use it. If you want to save the recordings, you will need to pay for their cloud storage as there is no option to add an SD card. This is another down side for me, but some may not care. Overall, this is a good camera and provides quality video, with good features.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again the entire Arlo security lineup of devices provide some of the best value out there. This camera especially comes in at an unbeatable value. You still get all the features that you know in love like speaker Built in with alarm that you can use a two way talk, weatherproof camera body and power connection, 2K resolution for really sharp video, dual band Wi-Fi to make sure it stays connected, Motion and audio detection with Alerts which actually work extremely well with their proprietary algorithm. There is a 16ft power cable included which is long enough to mount almost anywhere you like that makes sense. All this being on the essential line of cameras is actually pretty insane. When it comes to value for money this is the one. There is no local storage on this model you must use the cloud servers. There is a 30 day free trial of Arlo secure plan which is a great value compared to competitors if you choose to continue the subscription after the trial period.

I got this camera to pair with the other pan and tilt one. What I liked about it was the ecosystem and how well it works together. With that being said, I keep having issues with connectivity after a couple of days of continued use and the issue is not fixed until the unit has been fully reset. I ended up connecting it to a wifi switch and cycling it automatically every 24 hours, and I have had no issues since. My other concern is that it is just a drop-in camera with only cloud features and you are very limited once the trial is over. I would love for there to be some onboard recording, but this feels like a bit of a money grab. I get that companies are out here to make money, but I would like the hardware to meet the software at least somewhere in the middle. I do not like having to use a third-party solution to fix something that should not have been an issue in the first place. As far as camera quality, I cannot complain at all. When you check the feed, it looks clear and you can see the subject very well. The night vision mode turns on automatically and the spotlight is bright. You can see about 15 to 20 feet from the camera’s main point of view. Would I recommend it? Not likely. Not to anyone I know who is trying to actually secure something valuable. maybe they can use it as a pet cam or nanny cam. I know it sounds like I'm complaining but I am not happy with this. I've used my fair share of pay to use cameras with much better reliability. If you're going to pay for the subscription, then maybe I'd recommend it but the reliability issue has me on the fence pretty hard.

After investing significant time switching my camera security system to Arlo, I can confidently say their wired cameras are the best around. Not only do you get the feature-rich app and a high-quality camera - you won't have to worry about battery life with this Essential 2K security camera. PROs: 1) Setup - The setup for this Arlo Essential camera is a breeze. From start to finish, I think it took me around 10 minutes to setup. The app walks you through set by step and even offers helpful tips along the way. Updating the camera's software took up the majority of the time. 2) App - Arlo's app is the best on the market as far as I'm concerned. They provide advanced features like auto zoom & tracking, field of view adjustments, motion zone setting, and the list goes on. Not only am I getting more features than my last system, the app still feels intuitive and easy to use. 3) Picture Quality - The 2K sensor on this camera looks crystal clear. I thought that the larger files from the higher-res video would take longer to load and scrub through but I haven't noticed any issues. 4) Wired- Being a plug-in unit gives this camera a huge advantage - no battery to charge! While you do have to mount it within reach of an outlet, you won't have to worry about changing the battery every few weeks like on some of Arlo's other models. CONs: 1) Subscription - Yes, the price of the subscription is a bit of a downer for me. It's $5/mo more expensive than what I was paying with my other security system and $3/mo more expensive if I choose to pay up front for the year. I wish companies would get away from the discounted yearly rates. Just give me the best monthly price you can give me. This price is based on having multiple cameras. If you have one camera, it would be much cheaper.

I've been an Arlo wireless camera user in the past and was always pretty happy with the quality of those cameras, so I had high hopes with this wired one. I wanted a camera I could set up in my living room for when I go out of town to be able to check on my cats and their food/water situation. I didn't want anything super fancy or high tech, and wanted a wired option so I wouldn't have had to worry about making sure the battery was fully charged before I leave, or it possibly dying while I'm away. This Arlo essential wired camera fits my needs perfectly. It was extremely easy to set up. I just downloaded the app, followed the instructions on the screen, did a quick software update, and was able to use it right after that, which all in all took about 15 minutes. As far as settings go, there are adjustments you can make for better picture clarity, but I kept everything at default, and that seemed to work well for my living room setting. I love that it syncs well with Google Home, the night vision is surprisingly really sharp, and I love the 2-way audio communication. My cats were very curious about the voices coming from this little thing. 10/10 recommend if you're looking for an affordable camera option for indoor and outdoor use! The only thing I'll say is just like everything else, you need a subscription to use a lot of the "nicer" features like cloud storage and smart detection. I'm very happy with just having the basics though.
