The Arlo - Essential 1-Camera Wireless 2K Security Camera (3rd Gen) Battery Powered – White is a great addition to have for securing my home with video surveillance. I was able to setup the Arlo Essential 1 camera in just a few minutes. I only needed to install the Arlo app on my phone and follow the prompts. Connections were simple and user-friendly and well organized, even for someone with limited technical skill. Arlo includes a non-magnetic wall mount that consists of two parts. First, there is a mounting bracket that has to be screwed into a suitable vertical surface and then a moveable ball joint that screws into the back of the camera which allows the camera’s focus to be angled where I need it. I can connect directly with my Wi-Fi, instead of the need to use a Hub. But using the Hub does enable local storage. The overall performance is excellent. I can check the live view, receive motion alerts, and adjust settings in just a few taps. I can check my home from anywhere using the app on my phone, with monitoring everything in real time. The Essential 1 camera gives a wide 130° field of view diagonal angle to cover a huge amount of real estate. The picture quality is sharp and detailed, even at night, and the smart motion detection for people, vehicles, animals, and packages is fast and accurate. I can also have the spotlight activated by motion and use 2-Way audio to confront the intruder. I have an alarm siren that will make a lot of warning noise to detour an intruder from violating my home’s integrity. It is battery operated that allows me to place it in a spot with no electrical wall outlet needed. I can conveniently place it anywhere. The battery is rechargeable by use of a standard USB-C cable. I must remove the camera when charging the battery. The one minus is a paid subscription. The box states,’ Maintaining Arlo secure features requires a paid subscription after the trial period ends.” Their Arlo Secure Plan is included in a 1-month trial period. After that, the plans start at $7/month and go up from there for more features. That fact is the most likely thing to hold people back from buying this incredible home security camera.

I got the Arlo Essential 2K (3rd Gen) camera to use indoors so I could keep an eye on my dog while I’m out, and it’s been such a great little setup. I’m not super techy, but getting it up and running was surprisingly easy—just a few minutes and it was connected and ready to go. The video quality is really good. The 2K resolution makes everything clear enough that I can actually see what my dog is chewing on (or attempting to chew on). The wide field of view covers most of the room, and the motion alerts pop up quickly on my phone, which gives me peace of mind when I’m away. I also love that it’s wireless and battery-powered. I didn’t want cords or drilling, so being able to just place it on a shelf was perfect. The battery life has held up well so far, and the app is pretty easy to navigate. It’s been super helpful for keeping tabs on my pup. Maybe a splurge for a dog but gives me peace of mind while I’m away. If you want something simple, clear, and reliable for indoor monitoring, this Arlo camera definitely does the job!

Requires paid membership after using it for a while I guess that's why I don't recommend

This is a standard camera. The battery will not last that long if the camera is far away from your router.
