These cameras are decent, but you need a subscription after the free trial to do any recording. Otherwise, they're useless unless you just want to see what is going on outside.

This Arlo Wireless Security Camera system is one of the easiest to set up and use and is also one of the most effective ones on the market.  I have been using my new Arlo Essential Wireless battery operating Security Cameras for about five days now and I can honestly say I’m slowly becoming a big fan of the Arlo Security Camera eco system and the brand in general. It’s actually one of the reasons why this is my third camera purchase from Arlo.  I’ve owned several different brand name security cameras, including Arlo and by far Arlo has been the best, sans the extremely expensive cloud plans, but I’ll explain that later on, and the costs of their cloud service plans should not be a reason not to purchase these Arlo Security Cameras.  Additionally, you are able to use the these system and cameras without a plan, although limited to live views and still snapshot pictures. I began my Arlo journey about two years ago when I purchased a combo camera and security light for my driveway.  It was so effective that I decided to move it to my front porch and purchased a single Essential Wireless camera for my backyard.  Here I am again today, two years later, with this four camera system.  And yes, the other two cameras are still working without issue. I found this Arlo Security Camera System to be affordable, simple yet effective, and easy to use.  It’s so simple to set up and running that most of my time I spent was on deciding where to place the cameras and the actual installation.  The cameras come with an initial battery charge that should be about 80% charged right out of the box. Once the cameras are charged, and you’ve download the free Arlo app, you need to simply follow the simple connection instructions.  I forgot how easy it was for me to set up my cameras a couple years ago because once I set it up, it stayed connected as long as I had a good internet connection. I ordered this Essential 4-Camera Wireless 2K Security Camera system online to be delivered to my home.  The cameras arrived well packaged and everything was easy to find.  Arlo provides clear and easy to read quick start pamphlets that you’l easily find right on top as soon as you open the box.  You’ll be guided on the next steps to get you up and running in no time.  The cameras took a little over an hour to charge as they come charged with about 80% power. Arlo advises you charge the cameras completely before your first use.  After you charge your cameras, and you should have already used the app to connect them to your WiFi first, the app will let you know when they are fully charged and ready to use.  There is no need for a manual as the Arlo app walks you through connection to installation, from start to finish.  There is even a guide on how to install and secure the holding brackets.  Once connected to your internet (you have to connect each camera separately, but it’s also simple) it will check to ensure you have a strong enough connection and the guide you through the process from begining to end.  If your camera needs to be updated, you will be notified and you simply need to accept the update.  No need to hire a professional to install these cameras as its made simple enough for even the most technologically challenged individual to install. Once installed, they are easy to remove,  charge, and replace. You can leave these cameras outside in the elements and not worry.  My cameras have been outside in the hot sun, cold nights and raining days and extreme weather. I haven’t experienced any major issues.  Once set up, you’ll get a nice clear, crisp, sharp 2K picture where everything just pops on your phone. Video clips and snap shots are clear during the day or night as the night vision allows you to see what’s going on day or night regardless of lighting. There’s also a nice bright security light that can be activated when it senses movement.  This system came with a security warning yard sign that can be placed in your yard or affixed to your home to warn any suspecting bad actors.  Arlo also provides a couple of stickers that you can affix to your windows. Nevertheless, this Arlo camera system is not perfect as I take issue with the battery life and wish it was a longer. They also take too long to charge compared to my Arlo security spotlight camera that has a larger battery and the charge lasts longer.  I get a couple weeks on a single charge when there is a lot of movement and alerts, but I can get about three weeks to a month if I reduce the motion sensitivity. Another issue that I don’t like about the Arlo eco system is that you are stuck using their cloud system for storage of your videos and the monthly (there’s also a yearly option) costs continue to increase. There needs to an option to store and record at home on your private network without a monthly cost that supersedes the cost of the cameras after a year. But even with these drawbacks, this camera system is still fantastic and is the reason why Arlo has become my favorite security camera system above the rest.  I highly recommend these cameras and I would repurchase again.

This is a very nice 4-camera bundle that also includes a yard sign. I already had an Arlo security system, and I used the Arlo Secure app on my Android phone to quickly add these 4 cameras. I charged all the cameras overnight after I received them. The app updated the firmware on the cameras and jumped right into the physical installation which the app also guided me through. Tip of the cap to the Arlo engineers for a smooth process. It is worth noting that these cameras have dual band Wi-Fi. I do have a mesh network that auto detects the Wi-Fi band to use, and this network/device connection was handled without any problems at all. Connectivity to my router was instant and was maintained without any lost or weak connections. These cameras were mounted about 40 feet from my router at the corners of my house. The color day/night vision was very crisp and clear. The smart detection for people and my pets and passing vehicles hit every time, so I did confirm the motion detection is top rate. I could hear and speak to folks on the driveway, and the voices are clear and never sound like they are coming from inside a tunnel which I have heard on other security cameras. You will want to mount the cameras so that it is convenient to recharge the cameras. Of course, installation is simplified because there is no need for wired power nor wired signal cable connections – great. You can trigger a siren automatically or manually and this provides a great deterrent especially when you are in town and not home. Motion detection alerts are real time, no waiting like some security systems. There is also a spotlight which is a feature that I look for as the spotlight is another great deterrent to an intruder. This package provided me with excellent and very reliable state-of-the-art technology which added to my existing Arlo security system seamlessly. I do highly recommend these cameras for your initial system or to boost your existing security system.

I had Arlo camera before and now coming back to it im glad that the app has been updated. I have the essentials pack which are 3rd gen 2k version of this camera. firs impression the camera packaging is fairly simple with a great print that shows you the product itself. DEVICE: this version of the camera are wireless that runs on rechargeable battery which I honestly prefer more than having a wired camera. the camera which is 2560 x 1440 resolution still delivers a great quality of video recording. I always finds 1440 (2k) to be the sweet spot when it comes video recording. atleast for me I dont need a 4k video security camera. even at night during low light it can capture a great amount of views during the night. im using 2 in the house and 2 outside my house. it says its also weatherproof IP65-rated but I havent had a chance to test that part after installing it for almost a week now. APP: setting up for the app and pairing is fairly simple, I was also surprised that it did not have any connecting issue while it’s outside my house. I also decided to pay for the service monthly, performance of the app through the camera is 10/10 I didnt experience any bug or connection issues. the app offers live view and audio communication. it also detect animals i’ve recorded the fox that hangs out around the house. The app also have the ability to Arm away or when you’re at home. CONCLUSION: this essential pack I think is a great budget your paying about $200 for 4 cameras not only that its 2k and have tons of great features, battery life has been great so far and I have not charge it yet, honestly I will always purchase a wireless camera vs a wire camera, you just have more flexibility and the ability to relocate for a more optimum location. if you’re planning to get this make sure to purchase the monthly subscription that helps you record unlimited videos.

I was looking for some cameras for my house more than anything I needed some for when my kids are outsides and my pets. These Arlo cameras do not disappoint very easy to install and once up and running they are breeze to set up and use. I only have two complaints both are minor and not deal breakers I don’t like that the mount is affixed the camera I know that is easier because some can’t take it off the mount but then I have to use it on that mount specifically. My other issue was getting the cameras activated my phone would detect it but it would constantly fail to activate took several minutes and several tries. Once they were activated they worked great and had no issues. The clarity on the picture is great and the night vision also looks very good I appreciate the flood light also. Overall these are super solid cameras that you can set pretty much anywhere in your house they can get a so go signal. I would highly recommend these cameras to anyone looking to add some to their house.

Nice cams with Apple limits and so-so battery

I was all set to make the Arlo Essential system my new home security solution. I'm coming from the Nest ecosystem where I've dealt in the past with their lag, limitations of battery powered cameras, and high cost, all of which the Arlo system claims to deal with all of my concerns. I'm also somewhat moving away from the Google/Nest ecosystem in my home, so I hoped to use this starter pack as the first move away to bring my home security up to a spec that was more compatible with my Apple endpoint devices (and maybe HomeKit service!) Design - The cameras are VERY well designed with a nice small footprint and an even more compact mounting system - Very small brackets install easily into the walls or trim of the house with 2 small self-tapping screws so pre-drilling and templates aren't necessary. There's a nice quick-release for taking them down to charge, and they're equipped with USB-C connections for easy access to recharge means throughout the house (There's also a nice USB-C cable included for the cameras for easy re-charging.) The cameras feature lights and a "siren" ability that I assume is used to scare off potential trespassers or burglars, but this seems to be of limited usefulness considering that most criminals are immune to this type of feature. Video Quality: The video quality at night and during the day seems excellent. They fare a bit better than competing 1080p cameras, but the claim of "color night vision" is exaggerated, as most of the night footage was in fact greyscale/Infrared-based. Not a problem for my use case. Day images were super clear and both were able to be zoomed a fair bit and details observed (not as much so as some 4K cams I've tested). Audio Quality: The audio was good, but laggy and delayed when sending audio through the devices. the audio pickup in videos where that's desired was good enough. Not a killer feature for my use case of having eyes around my house at every entry point. Battery Life: These cameras are the "standard" battery powered models. I found in my testing some of my more frequently "visited" cameras only lasted just over a week and were already started to get below 50% capacity reported by the app. I also have the extended battery version which I will copy this review to separately. Connectivity: The devices paired with my home WiFi 7 router/mesh well, which was a relief (these systems can struggle with mesh WiFi so this was a nice relief. I learned while researching the product that in order to have seamless/flawless connections there is an additional $99 base station that's not included that makes the system more reliably connected, and THEN offers Apple HomeKit compatibility. This was my biggest disappointment - Requiring a base station accessory to enable HomeKit was disappointing, as I was used to having Google Home integration with my home accessories already, and now I'm stuck with ONLY the proprietary app to get alerts, footage reviews, and recording reviews. This is a challenge for me to accept these are my primary camera system, and is the deal breaker for my own installation, but shouldn't deter you if you dont have an Apple ecosystem requirement. If you're happy using the free Arlo app for alerts and checking the cameras on phone and tablet, these work well. I did notice delays on my further-mounted cameras from the sides of the house struggling to connect for 20-30 seconds sometimes when trying to get live view quickly from the camera. I'm worried this is a known issue with Arlo without the base station. Subscription/Software: The Arlo app is adequate. It's just Adequate. It lacks the interface polish of the rest of the brand (I expected something more akin to the project packaging and aesthetic but the app is drab grey with an appearance like it was originally written for an older version of iOS. The Android app is very similarly outdated-feeling. It worked well enough but just didnt feel like a 2025 competitor in this space. This was one of the reasons I would have loved to manage the cams from the Apple Home app and have that interface for interacting with them. I missed Google Home, which is saying something. The subscriptions are also pricey even at the standard tier, and the cameras are basically only live-monitoring with NO alerting without the $215/year subscription to the "Plus Multi-Camera" plan that is the only one that makes sense for 4 cameras. All in all, this is an adequate monitoring solution based on some good technology, just a victim of no partnerships brought forward from Arlo, limited Apple compatibility, and a weak app UI/UX.

By now everyone is familiar with Arlo cameras. The Arlo Essential camera is the entry point for Arlo camera, and this gen3 camera is the latest iteration of that model. I have multiple generations and models of Arlo camera, and I find that they provide the best value for the money in the Arlo lineup. Opening the box shows thoughtful, ecologically sensitive packaging. Nearly everything is recyclable and there is no extraneous “filler” space. Four cameras with mounts, a charger, and an Arlo Security yard sign are included in the box. A four camera kit provides good coverage for a fairly significant area; your environment will determine if you need additional cameras. Setup is a snap. If you don’t have the Arlo app or account, you need to download and create these, respectively. Once this is done, the rest is very simple. Press the “+” button on the app and select the Essential camera. It will ask if the camera you’re adding has a button on the top or the bottom (gen3 has the button on top). Press button, and the app adds it to your network. Give it a name, position the camera mount, move the camera to the desired position, and it’s ready to go. The entire process took me less than five minutes. This process must be repeated for each camera. Image quality is clear, with great low-light visibility. The camera can be monitored from the app at any time, and can be set to alert you when there is activity. Motion sensing activates a spotlight, which delivers a warning to would-be intruders, lights the path of those who belong, and allows clearer images to be captured. You can turn this light off on each individual camera in, of course, the app. The camera has a microphone and speaker for two-way communication. Even when monitoring remotely, there is little lag in the conversation. There is one issue I have with Arlo cameras; if you want to be able to go back and see previous footage, you have to subscribe to their service (and pay a fee). It didn’t used to be this way. In the past, Arlo provided images for a limited time and the subscription feature was for viewing older clips. I took a single star off for this missing feature, as it really does limit the functionality of an otherwise excellent camera.

This security camera bundle from Arlo is a powerhouse for home protection. Right out of the box, the setup was a breeze, no complicated wiring, just a quick Wi-Fi connection, and I was up and running in minutes. The 2K video quality is incredibly sharp, and the impressive zoom lets me catch even the smallest details, like license plates or facial features, with ease. What really impressed me is how responsive the system is. I get instant alerts on my phone whenever motion is detected, and the live streaming is smooth and reliable. The color night vision is a game-changer; no more grainy black-and-white footage. Plus, the integrated spotlight and siren are great deterrents, and I love being able to control them remotely through the Arlo Secure App. The noise-canceling two-way audio is surprisingly clear, making it easy to talk to delivery drivers or guests. And with four cameras included, I’ve got my entire property covered. The weather-resistant design and rechargeable batteries make this system perfect for outdoor use, rain or shine. My only gripe? To keep recordings and access premium features like cloud storage and advanced detection, you’ll need a subscription after the 30-day trial. It’s a bit of a bummer, but honestly, the peace of mind and robust features make it worth considering. If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality, and easy-to-use home security solution, this Arlo bundle is a fantastic investment.

I've been able to test the Arlo Essential 4-Camera Wireless 2K Security System (3rd Gen) in my home for a month now, and I’m pleased to report that it has been functioning well. Installation of the system was a breeze – I had no issues getting the cameras linked to my Wi-Fi network, thanks to the wireless feature that eliminated the need for any cables. Resolution in 2K is great, as I am able to see people’s faces, license plates, as well as small details such as address labels. This motion detection system is effective, and notification alerts from the Arlo Secure app come incredibly fast. It has smart detection capabilities that reduce false alerts of people, cars, and boxes. Two-way audio communication is sufficient for a short chat, and the inbuilt alarm can be accessed remotely, giving peace of mind when I am away traveling. Battery performance will depend on the level of activity in your environment, but on moderate activity, I get a month of use before I need to recharge. What is important to keep in mind is that there are some advanced functions that require a subscription after the trial period is over, such as cloud storage capabilities as well as alert functions. Also, the fact that the system uses Wi-Fi means that location becomes a factor in where these cameras are set up around the home. This particular set is a great choice for a homeowner that desires ease of use as well as alert capabilities.

This review is on an Arlo - Essential 4-Camera Wireless 2K Security Camera (3rd Gen). This product comes with 4 cameras. I am already signed up to Arlo so setting up these 4 cameras was easy. I opened the Arlo app on my phone and selected + sign to add a new device. I selected cameras, then essential series and last, the 3rd generation with button on top. All you have to do is hold the button on top of the camera for 3 seconds and click next in the app and it will quickly find the camera. When you select the camera to be added you then connect it to your Wi-Fi. It already had my saved info so I didn't have to enter anything. It adds your camera to your account and asks you to name it. Then it will recognize that it has an update and immediately start to install it. The first update for me failed but I removed the camera and added it back and it said the update was successful. Then it will give you instructions on how to mount it. Installation with the mount was easy. The picture quality and color is good but not sharp. In the app you can choose to stop, mute, record, take a picture, use the mic to talk and turn on the security light which is bright. You can setup zones that you don't want the camera to watch. If a car was to go by on the street, it would normally pick it up, but you can set a zone for it to not monitor the street. It also comes with a free trial. This is a great combo package to order if you are wanting to monitor multiple views around your home.

I’ve been using the Arlo Essential 4-camera bundle for a few weeks now, and overall, I’m impressed with its performance and simplicity. One of the standout features is that these cameras don’t require a base station, they connect directly to Wi-Fi, which makes setup incredibly fast and flexible. I was able to mount and sync all four cameras in under an hour using just the Arlo app. The 2K resolution is sharp and detailed, especially useful for identifying faces and license plates. Night vision works well, and the built-in spotlight adds an extra layer of security. I also appreciate the smart motion detection—it reliably distinguishes between people, vehicles, and animals, reducing false alerts. Battery life has been solid so far, though I’d recommend checking signal strength at each mounting location since Wi-Fi performance can affect battery drain. The cameras are weather-resistant, and I’ve had no issues with outdoor placement even during heavy rain. One thing to note: while the cameras work great without a hub, you’ll need a subscription to unlock features like cloud recording and advanced object detection after the trial period ends. Still, for a wire-free, high-resolution system that skips the hassle of a base station, this Arlo setup delivers excellent value.

I am a huge fan of the "G/N" brand, but their prices are atrosious and the innovation has stalled When it came time to replace my aging cameras, I decided to try something different First off, a four (4) pack for the price of 1? Count me in The box looked great and while Arlo is not totally unknown, the brand was not on my initial pick list Packaging and unboxing was uneventful. Everything was safe, secure and damage free Instructions were what you expect with kinks to videos in case you need them. Honestly, if you are replacing another camera, you already got this Being cord free was a huge bonus. You no longer need to mount near an electrical outlet, and you save yourself from unsightly cords running down a wall. You also free up sockets for things like holiday lighting and of course they become less visible for people that do not have good intentions So gone do they work? The 2K picture is awesome, and 4K is just overkill for such a small image The nighttime view is clear with excellent imagery. The rest of features are consistently as good or better than the name brands (did I mention a fraction of the price) Controls are simple and the app ties it all together Of course you can use your favorite app to tie it into your home automation They have not been long enough to have had to charge them, so I can not comment on the expectancy, but the battery usage against holding the charge has been great. Overall, I and very happy with this purchase and would buy their products again and recommend to friends and family

Great pack of 2k HD indoor/outdoor cameras. These are battery powered but you can order solar panels to run these 24/7 without needing to charge them, they also sell optional mounts for gutters and other situations. I was able to mount these to my gutters without needing to drill a single hole, I glued the solar panel to a shingle with construction adhesive. I love the quality and shape of Arlo's cameras. You can also buy silicon sleeves to camouflage the cameras. Download the Arlo app, set up your cameras to your wifi and instantly start recording to the cloud. Works with Alexa and Google. You can hear and talk through the cameras as well. They have a small led light and pick up motion, the light isn't amazing but does help. You can set a siren to go off as well, to hopefully scare off intruders. The minimalist plan is free but doesn't have many features, you can upgrade to a basic plan for $18 a month which is a great deal. This kit comes with the cameras, wall or ceiling mounts, a charging cable and a yard sign. Nice, great quality camera set.

I really like the Arlo Cameras. They are super easy to connect to the app. I have used Arlo cameras in the past but these are even better than the old ones. They suggest charging them first so they are fully charged when you install them. I don’t know how long they will last on a charge, but it will depend on a lot of things. How often they are activated, if the lights are activated, how cold it is, etc… My old Arlo cameras would easily last a couple months on a charge. I’m looking forward to seeing how long these last on a charge. From the app, when you go to devices, it will give you a static picture of the last time it recorded activity. It also displays the name of the camera. I named mine front of house and the direction it is facing. You can see the signal strength, battery state of charge as well as other functions. The cameras have a built in motion activated spotlight, an emergency siren and 2 way audio. In the bottom of the app there is a dashboard, feed, emergency, devices and routines section. The dashboard allows you to set it as arm away, arm home or standby. The feed section will record the activity and keep a log of activity. The emergency section will allow you to activate the siren. You can set it up to call someone when you activate the siren. Devices will show you the static photo of the last activity. You can press the play icon in the middle of the photo and it will show a live feed from the camera. Under Routines, there are Modes which will allow you to set up arm away, arm home, and standby routines. There is also Automations which will allow you to set up schedules or Arrive/Leave automations. I like just getting the alerts for when there is activity. I think Arlo is a solid product. With previous cameras you had to have a base. The new cameras no longer require a base. That makes them even easier to use. If you are looking for a wireless camera system, I think you would be happy with the Arlo product.

I would recommend this to a friend

This is a great value pack if you already have the Arlo system like me. This 4 pack is reasonably-priced, and makes sure that all my home blind spots are covered. Like other Arlo cameras, this is made of good quality. The casing is made of lighter materials but they are not cheap and not flimsy at all. Set up is a little tough as I had to set up each one—yes, one set up four times. The tough part is, each camera set up took at least 2 attempts, with one camera even reaching 6 times to connect. One even required me to reset set up. Tip, don’t let the firmware update in the background—keep it on-screen. Yes, each one requires a firmware too, so I would say 45 minutes just to connect all cameras to the app. After that, it is easy to operate, especially that I am familiar with the Arlo system. Since it connects directly to wifi, it makes it simpler to connect—if not for the extended time needed to put things together. Camera widgets are easily added to my Google Home dashboard, while each was easily labelled and recognized in my home dashboard. It does take time to load in the Home app, even though I have really fast internet at home. In the Arlo app though, the delay is reasonable and the feed is pretty helpful. This is available because of the subscription, so if you do not like to pay, you can still see videos live without recording. There is some battery management that I had to do—the battery lasts long, but drains fast that I had to make sure I tweak options like night vision option settings and motion sensitivity. I also had to make sure I use the app’s activity detection zones to minimize notification noise and battery drain. Believe me, with 4 more cameras to your system, you will not have enough time to go through all activity in your feed if you do not track only those that matter. Video is good, as expected though there is some softness indoors. And the specific notifications like person or animal labels help a lot. For the price I think it is a good buy—perhaps to cover what you will pay in subscription especially if you want to track round-the-clock protection like me.
