Excellent Tilt Indoor Security Camera

Arlo is a well known, trusted, quality brand security system company. This particular camera comes with a mount, screws and a power cord and of course instructions on setup and use. The company even gives you a 30-day trial of the Arlo Secure subscription, which I have to assure I have everything needed to feel perfectly secure in my home. This camera takes 2K videos. The clarity and color is very good which Arlo is well known for. The USB-C power cord is about 16 feet long, so you can place the camera pretty much anywhere you want in a room.
This tilt indoor camera is great for security and helps make sure your home and family are safe. It can also be a good addition if you already have other Arlo security cameras, as I do, inside and out. I couldn’t feel more secure with this and my other cameras. I feel as if I were living in Fort Knox. You can mount this camera to either a wall or ceiling. You can even just set it on a shelf to view the area you want to keep an eye on. I have it in a corner and it pretty much views the whole living room, into the kitchen and even the front door and windows. I definitely feel very secure just knowing it is here.
Setting up this camera is surprisingly simple. You just need to upload the Arlo app and follow the instructions. There is no need for a hub as the camera connects to your WiFi. With the app you can turn the camera side to side and move the lens up and down to view the entire area you have the camera in which is nice if you can’t get a full view of the room you want secured completely.
You can do many things with this camera such as track motion, sound alarms, identify a threat and you can even contact emergency services in case of an emergency. When using the Arlo app, you can have a two-way conversation if you are away from home. I have used the camera to talk to my daughter while out and about. If it is in the middle of the night and there are no lights on, this camera has night vision to detect any intruder or your teenager sneaking in or out late at night. Gotcha!
If you plan on using this as a security camera, you probably should use the Arlo Secure subscription to take full advantage of what the camera can do. If you have the subscription, you will be able to store video up to 60 days, see the Live View and watch saved videos away from home and much more.
This is a great indoor camera with so many uses. It can be used as a basic security camera, you can put it in the baby’s room as a monitor, among many other things. I highly recommend this very versatile security camera.

An Easy Choice to Make

It has been awhile since I’ve upgraded or added to my Arlo security setup. With a new home, I’m doing a fresh installation. As a result of being back in the market for a security package, I find myself impressed with how much advancement there has been since I last looked into what’s available. Once again, I’m going with Arlo as my basic setup.
The Arlo Essential 1 Pan Tilt Indoor camera is amazing. In the right location it can certainly be used outdoors, but it’s aimed at indoor use. That’s just what I was looking for. The list of features pretty much cover why I like this camera, but the price also makes it attractive. The AI/Recognition features are surprisingly accurate and the automatic motion tracking greatly enhances its effectiveness. Instead of needing to use multiple cameras to cover all of a room, the Essential 1 takes care of it thanks to its pan-tilt capabilities.
Initial setup is straightforward using the Arlo app, though it can take some time to become familiar with the advanced settings and find the ones that work best for your needs. Once you’ve dialed that in, it works great. An important caveat is that you will need to establish a subscription in order to get the benefits of saved recordings and advanced recognition features. Arlo has single-camera and unlimited cameras subscription plans. You do get an initial free 30-day subscription.
The privacy mode is a welcome addition. There’s something reassuring about having the camera physically move to a configuration where it’s impossible for it to see anything. It should be noted that the ‘wireless’ label is referring to the fact that it works with wifi. It is wired as far as power goes, so you need to be within 6 feet of a power source.
With all that this camera offers, along with its price and established brand, you can’t go wrong making this your choice.

High quality and ersatile security camera

It turns out that the Arlo Essential 1-Camera Pan Tilt Indoor 2K has been a surprisingly handy addition to my downstairs setup.
I have it installed in the basement, which is dark when no one is down there and has a dog and three cats who seem to be under the impression that they run a subterranean society.
The 2K resolution provides me a crisp, clear view of the dog chilling on the old couch or plotting his next raid on the cats food bowl.
The pan-and-tilt control comes as a massive plus: I can pan across the entire room and follow the action rather than be stuck with a fixed angle that inevitably misses out on all the good stuff.
Setup was a breeze and honestly required only a couple minutes with its app. The live view is snappy, and the response time of moving the camera remotely is surprisingly good. The picture does hold up fairly well in low light, colors remain true and movement stays clear.
And I also love the fact that it gets power from by plugging into an outlet, so I don’t have to worry about battery life or charging cycles…just set it and forget it.
The two-way audio is surprisingly useful, too; I can actually talk through the camera’s speaker if I need to command the dog or spook the cats off a shelf where they don’t belong. With the crisp video, responsive controls and consistent performance, it has become an essential tool for checking on the basement mess when I’m upstairs or out and about.

Indoor security is essential for me. Monitoring my home, family and pets, knowing that I can be alerted when something needs attention, really provides peace of mind. Doing it for such an affordable price is amazing.
The camera includes everything I needed to get started. A power supply and cable, and even a wall mount. With 360 degree pan and 180 degree tilt, there’s no blind spots in its view. It works with our smart home systems like Alexa, Google and SmartThings. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
The 2K video brings out the detail and the night vision is great even in low light. It will track people and animals, like my dog perfectly. With 2-way audio, I can even talk with the people in the room, or say hi to the dog when we’re not home. You can even use a siren from the app, or trigger it automatically.
There are few items of note. The camera does not have built in storage. Videos are stored in the cloud for 60 days with a subscription plan. The subscription will give you alerts when it detects sounds like a smoke alarm or glass breaking. It will alert if it sees fire. Without a subscription plan you’ll have access to live streaming and two-way audio. There are multiple security plans to meet just about need, and the professional monitoring plan can qualify for a discount on some homeowner insurance plans. It’s worth contacting your agent to see if you qualify.
Overall this is a great camera, and offers multiple options for enhanced security.

I am loving this camera. It a small, very compact. The camera rotates up and down when it detects a moving object or person. It identifies pets as well.
The setup was very simple, it took less than 10 minutes. I was able to connect to my wifi and then simply follow the prompts. Very simple directions from the app. You identify the room it’s in, and just follow the prompts. You don’t have to be real tech savvy to set this up.
The app records any movement in the room. I tried it out in a spare room where my dog is located. It records every time she moves. I also tried it in other rooms to see where it will be most useful. The night feature is great. I am able to see in a room clearly even if the room is dark. It moves around when it senses movement, which I think is very cool. I have been playing around with the app to see what’s available. It looks like I can set alarms . I get a notification every time there is movement in the room where the camera is located. I am thinking about adding cameras to other rooms in my house and using it at my mom’s house for safety reasons.
This particular camera is white and actual camera area is black. It is small but mighty. I think it would look good in any room and would not draw a lot of attention. It does make a low noise when the camera rotates, but it is not annoying.
I would definitely recommend this little camera if you’re looking to monitor a small area. I plan to order more.

Pan, Tilt, and Protect—No Base Needed

I recently added the Arlo Essential Pan and Tilt camera to my existing Arlo system, and it’s been a fantastic upgrade. Setup was smooth—no base station required, which is a huge plus. The camera connects directly to Wi-Fi, making it easy to place anywhere with a strong signal.
It has a 130º base field of view and with the 360º pan and the 180º tilt functionality is excellent for indoor coverage. I can remotely swivel the camera to check different parts of the room, and the 2K resolution delivers sharp, detailed footage. It also has 12x digital zoom and night vision. Motion detection is responsive, and the alerts are accurate, especially with smart object recognition.
I also appreciate the two-way audio and built-in siren, which add an extra layer of security. The camera integrates perfectly with my other Arlo devices in the app, so I can monitor everything from one dashboard. This camera is ideal for monitoring wide indoor spaces or entry points where motion tracking and remote viewing angles are essential. It’s especially useful for pet monitoring, child safety, or watching over high-traffic areas. Overall, this camera is a great addition to any Arlo setup—flexible, powerful, and easy to use without a hub.

I 3d print and if you do as well, you know the camera is terrible. So I wanted to get something that would be faster in the capturing portion of my remote viewing. I had/have a smaller cam, but wanted something with better low light and be able to be moved if needed. This is a great camera all around if you want for security or quick scan of what is going on in/around the house. But, sadly it does not fit my needs as I wanted to. Here are my highlight and lowlight on this wireless camera.
Good:
1. easy to set up with step by step prompts
2. ability to pan and tilt is great and is very smooth
3. comes with wall mount hardware (although I did not use it) that is simple to get attached.
4. you can do motion capture with many different items. Like, human, animal, fire . etc) and it does do a great job doing this.
5. nice long cable so you can install and not have wires that don't hide well. easy to tuck in the jointed parts for near seamless installs
6. Low light and other lighting options are top notch. I was able to see my whole room as if it was half brightness (like sunrise or sunset) making it easy to keep tabs on my printer.
7. Pan and tilt are easy to use and come in handy if you need to scan something else in the room. Also the zoom feature is perfect to see items closer.
8. Can be set up to only start when motion is detected, and thus keeping your memory use lower than running all the time.
Bad:
1. unable to stream for long periods without a subscription. I would start a non motion activated video aimed at the printer and 5-7 mins later it would disconnect and when I reconnect it would ask me to log in again.
2. I have had to unplug and plug back in many times to get it to reconnect to my network. it would freeze and could not be used until it was reset.
3. Unable to have just simple streaming remotely as I would have to log in each time I viewed on my phone/tablet/ or monitor
4. would not go back to last position when I reconnected to it, so I would have to pan and tilt to see anything each time I activated it (it would face down the camera for privacy reasons). Also it would randomly zoom in and not out. So I was like 4x and unable to see my intended subject.
5. Of course the constant emails stating like " we know you are using the free profile, but just look at the same options you can get if you paid also". yeah no thank you. I like not sharing my stuff with outside clouds and services as much as possible.
So, would I get this again? Most likely not. But, then again I had hoped it would give me something that it was not purpose built for. So for watching pets, people (like in store, delivery, etc) or safety, I would suggest this as a option.

This camera gives you a wealth of features in a small budget friendly package. Setup is quick and easy with the Arlo mobile application. Connection to Wi-Fi is effortless as long as you make sure you are connecting to the 2.4mhz band. Most newer routers load balance among all available bands (2.4, 5 & 6). I highly recommend setting up an IoT SSID and limit it to the 2.4mhz band to alleviate any issues. Once you have it connected, update the firmware and pick a location, it works effortlessly.
I am using it in a tabletop setup to monitor my son during his home schooling. It gives a clear view of the entire room and the camera follow's motion very well. I like that he can ask me questions while I'm anywhere in the house and I can respond back from my phone also. Audio is crisp, with only a slight delay. Picture quality is great even in low light.
The Arlo application allows seamless integration if you wish to integrate more cameras to give a complete monitor of your home. It comes with a 30-day trial of cloud integration to save camera history. I don't need it for my usage purposes, but if you are using it for home security, the cloud integration is reasonable at only $7.99 per month.

I rarely give 5 star reviews, but making an exception for this Arlo Pan and Tilt camera. My other half always worries that when we're away our dog isn't drinking water (dog clearly eats from the automatic feeder). We've tried putting up a temporary fixed camera but I find it less than helpful as I want to be able to keep an eye on the rest of the rooms of the house (has our robot vacuum cleaner got stuck somewhere, what mail came through the mail slot), so was excited to test this Arlo Pan and Tilt camera. Like other Arlo products, setup is a breeze and it pairs quickly with the Arlo app. But where this camera really shines is not just the 2K video quality (which is amazing), but the smoothness of the pan and tilt. The responsiveness from your phone over 5G back to the camera is slick, I didn't find myself over panning and even the automated motion tracking was impressively accurate. I'm so impressed, I plan to get another unit for my basement as it will be great when we're away (don't worry our dog is with a sitter!), as I can keep an eye on the exits, but also monitor the HVAC unit and the ever present risk of basement flooding. Arlo have seriously found a fan in me!

Great camera. The image quality is good. I can see things clearly when accessing the camera using the app. The Arlo Essential 1 is a great addition to the full pack that is available as well. I like the ability to rotate the camera and directed where wanted. I also like the motion sense technology built in. The camera connects easily to the app. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. I really enjoy using the Arlo Essential 1 camera. Like I mentioned before. It is a great addition to all of their other products. The build quality is ok. Nothing to complain about. I would try to avoid dropping it because you never know how it may effect the panning ability of the camera. My wife and I enjoy the ability to connect with our phones through the app. When we leave we can easily arm the unit and it will inform us if anything or anyone enters into the camera frame. We like being able to check on our cat or dogs while away as well with this camera. Overal I like it and would recommend getting it if you are in the market.

This review is for the Arlo essential indoor pan tilt camera,
Unboxing and setup was very easy to add to my Arlo account. Simply put the camera in pairing mode by holding the button on top for a few seconds, and it was discovered by the app instantly.
It has 360* pan and 180* tilt with motion and audio detection. It does a really good job of keeping the camera centered on any movement in its view. So if you walk across the room it's in, the camera will follow you. The camera's movement could be a little quieter. When tracking movement you can hear the camera moving. It's not loud by any means but does bring attention to it.
When viewing through the Arlo app you can control it, moving the camera around to see what you would like to see. And the picture quality is good. You can easily identify people or pets, It's a clean picture not blurry at all. Also has 2-way audio. You can hear and speak through the camera. There is a small delay in the audio when talking but not too bad. And no need to worry about batteries as this unit is a wall plug in.

There's not much to say about indoor surveillance cameras these days as they all are pretty much about the same. You get decent quality video and resolution. You get motion sensing and some AI features that you have to pay monthly for which is never happening for me personally. I used to install cameras when they were IP cameras, and I will never pay a monthly service fee just for the privilege of using their gateway and some debatively useless AI features. In fact, the only reason to pay a monthly subscription fee would be for the cloud storage but I don't like that either because I don't want my footage potentially on the internet. Like all token ring based cameras, this one requires a base station which is fine, but your base station has to live next to your router because it needs to be plugged in to an open ethernet port and that is no good. That requirement alone limits the utility of these cameras in remote spots. So you should know that going in. I have had the very 1st generation of Arlo cameras and their resolution has improve dramatically but solely because of the base station requirement, I stopped using them. The build quality is good. Really all my Arlo cameras have been very well made especially the outdoor ones. I chose the power mine by solar panels which is a nice feature but not offered on this model because this is an indoor model. I'm happy to see that Arlo has added pan tilt zoom cameras to their line up and if you're looking for a decent indoor camera and you're okay with keeping the base station so close to your router, then this would be a good choice.

I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to security cameras as I have a few outside of my house. However, I needed something to monitor what goes on inside. This Arlo indoor security camera has a lot of valuable features in relation to the low purchase cost. I have been using it exclusively as a toddler monitor and occasional cat monitor instead of the presumably ‘burglar’ usage. With that said, it records segments of movement based on a variety of choices (pets, humans, etc) along with alarms/notifications if necessary. There is almost too many features/settings in the app that it became confusing at times to just find a simple setting I wanted to make. For the average user, it may be too much. I also noticed that when I would view the live footage on my phone, the camera would just stop after about 15-20 minutes, which I then had to backtrack out of the feed and then click it again to get the live feedback on. Perhaps this is a glitch or there is a setting somewhere to allow me to keep the camera always in ‘live view’ but I couldn’t find it. With regards to the camera quality, it is neither bad nor good…..when you zoom in, it gets overly pixelated/blurry so it can be difficult to see fine detail. However, I do like that I can manually maneuver the camera around through the app. Also, putting it in ‘privacy’ mode is another good feature, which will make the camera face down/away so anyone in the room will know they aren’t being watched at that moment. Overall, for the price, this is a handy indoor camera that offers many features, although the app may become confusing for some users.

Subscription needed for the better features

The Arlo Essential 1 Pan-Tilt indoor camera provides a sharp 2K image and good night vision. However, the most useful and best features require a subscription.
PROs
- Excellent image quality
- Ability to install the product on a wall, ceiling, or free standing upright.
- The camera has a microphone so you can hear what’s going on, and lets you have 2-way conversations.
- Privacy mode that automatically faces the camera downwards to the base when not in use.
CONs
- No local storage.
- Home setting does not always return the camera to the home view. It’s frequently misaligned from the home view I set.
- The app is not always responsive. When trying to change the camera’s view, sometimes it’s instant, other times it stalls or just doesn’t work.
- 360 degree horizontal view does not rotate past the back side. It’s more like two 180 degree rotations. For example, say you rotate the camera to the left. It will keep rotating left until it’s pointing backwards and stop. So if you now want to see what was on the right side, you then have to rotate it to the right all way past the front and keep going. It does not freely rotate past the backward view.
- The biggest con is that you have to subscribe to their service for any reasonable functionality, including recording as there is no local storage. On top of that, it’s hard to tell what features, as limited as they may be, you can still have access to without a subscription.
In the end, it is a basic camera gives you a pan/tilt view unless you subscribe.

For the price you can’t beat it. Does everything my other Arlo products can do at 1/8th of the cost. Works every time I need it
