    Weak wifi

We purchased this system to replace our previous Arlo camera system because we lost several cameras from Hurricane Ian. The video is clear, they are easy to set up. However, because this new system does not use a Hub, the wifi does not reach to the side of our home (outside) where our pool equipment is. The home is built from cinder block and we have high impact windows which does factor in, however, our previous Arlo system with a Hub had no issues reaching the pool equipment. We now have a 4 camera system and are only using 2 outside because the wifi doesn't reach there. Monitoring the pool equipment is important to us but this system doesn't meet that need. (By the way, the Blink system has the same issue) If you are using these within a straight line from your wifi router with windows between, they will work great. Just don't expect them to reach through cinderblock homes.

I consider Arlo a great investment for beginners or perhaps those who are not to tech savvy. Compared to other brands on the market today I would say Arlo cameras and services are of lower quality, though I am thankful for the security my Arlo cameras have provided my family and I thus far, when they do work.

This camera is great and has been a great addition to my existing Arlo set up. I don’t like that it needs a subscription to see more features but the camera overall works great, great battery life, awesome spot light when someone triggers the motion sensor. Overall great camera.

    Arlo essential series camera review

This review is for arlo camera purchased, not the arlo system as a whole. Hardware is very good, images clear both day and night. The spotlight ability is quite useful but may be turned off if desired. Another useful ability with this series is to connect directly to the router hub and not use an arlo hub; like the Arlo Q series.(Although I have not used this feature yet.) Wireless range is much as described. and quite good. A slight drawback compared to the earlier pro 2 cameras is the built in battery which means no quick swap option of batteries option also there is no magnet at the back for convenient mounting. In general the Arlo hardware cameras are very good but have frequently had problems with the software for capturing and storing images which does not work well in a mixed OS client system and guest users as can be seen by the number of software updates that are regularly released. Customer service for hardware related issues is also very good; I had one RMA in warranty period which was honored efficiently .However support for software issues is appalling and they hope you just stop complaining.

Very good, with a few caveats

This is a very good camera. The image quality is excellent, motion detection is reliable, spotlight is very handy, two way audio is great. In summary, hardware is fantastic. The caveat is that this camera needs a subscription, if you chose to use this without a subscription you will only be able to stream video with no ability to record. Subscriptions are currently $3 per camera or $10 for unlimited, which seems reasonable. One other caveat is local recording/Homekit. In order to record locally (to a hard drive or something) or use these cameras in Homekit you will need a base station or smart hub. If you have one of these you can stream video in HomeKit and use the cameras as motion sensors. You can also record locally (bypassing the need for a subscription) but recording locally really should only be used as a backup. Its a pretty slow and non-ideal experience. TLDR: Amazing camera, expect to pay $3 a month for cloud storage.

The camera works well. Audio is good and so is the night vision. I like that I can talk through the camera and I've never had any issues with it getting wet. The only thing is sometimes I have trouble recconecting to it Wi-Fi.

This is my third Arlo product and me tell you that you get what you pay for with this one. Camera overall works very well but the biggest issue I have is the battery life. Battery is internal so you have to plug whole camera in to charge ( which is a pain ), also the battery life on this thing is garbage compared to the floodlight system. Out of desperation I even moved camera to a different area with less traffic which seemed to improve battery life but still seems to be draining extremely fast even with all the camera settings at a minimal. Not sure if I will be renewing service after free trial as I am already thinking of selling this on eBay and going without. This is one of the first Arlo products that I actually have complaints about - floodlight and doorbell systems work great!

We have reallyenjoyed the camera so far, it is easy to install and quick to setup with the arlo system! We were looking for something to setup quickly whike on vacation and this camera really helped. The clarity is decent, it picks up most movement (even our cat), and has a voice feature which helped us check in with the pet sitter! I am grateful for this camera. The only tricky thing we are navigating is the slightly shorter battery time but it seems to last 2-3 weeks.

I switched to this system after using a wired system for so long to survey my home. I was so used to having a monitor up in my living room, so I’m able to see the surroundings of my home at all times. With this new system the only time you can really monitor it is if you pull the system up on your phone after an alert or if you want to see in real time. When viewing real time this helps drain the battery faster so you definitely do not want to have it up all the time. The flashlights are pretty bright on these and works pretty good as a motion sensor spotlight. All cameras can be put on a schedule but I wish you had at least three schedules you can use. For example, you can set a schedule for when the cameras are activated and when they are not. Would be cool to have that third schedule for when nobody’s home during the day but overall it’s a pretty good system I really dislike how you lose a lot of the features if you do not subscribe for the monthly secure feature.

These cameras work great the only issue I was having was being able to get them connected to the internet at first since it uses a mesh network. Once troubleshooting with an ARLO support rep I was able to get them To connect. I love the spotlight s because my apartment complex is not well lit so these work perfectly at night when triggered by the motion sensors. The picture quality is great when set up properly but my neighbors use bright lights at night so I get more of white out images when that happens.

Have had Arlo for some time. The newer Arlo cameras dont have the removable battery (this one). At first i was disappointed because its not an interchangeable part but i've had it up an running for almost a month in a high traffic area and haven't had to recharge it, still have more than 1/2 battery life. I am pretty impressed with the update on the battery life. Quality of video is also pretty good. Good camera for front door or somewhere you need lit up at night

Works well fairly well. Battery life is low. Had to buy a cable to keep it hooked up and charged. Its a pain otherwise to keep connecting and disconnecting the charger. So I leave it connected and will have to run it permanently to reduce that hassle, which defeats the purpose of wireless. The app is ok, but dont want to pay for continued subscription, so I bought the hub. We will see how that works out. The pic is good and light is ok. Setup is easy other that the need to run a permanent charge cord. I did buy more cameras and the doorbell. I hope it all woks out well with the hub and I am happy. If the doorbell doesn't work with the hub , I will return it or sell it and keep my ring which is a cheaper subscription for one device. Time will tell... Still all new and figuring it all out.
