Customers highly value the ease of use, versatile sensors, and relatively easy installation of this home security system. Many appreciate the system's affordability and the customizable features offered through the user-friendly app. While some experienced challenges with WiFi connectivity and battery life, the positive feedback on core functionality outweighs these concerns. The included keypad and its features are also frequently praised.

I really wanted this to work because I like their cameras but after 5 days of trying to set it up, even with Arlo support, I am going to return it because the Arlo App will not recognize it. Arlo support has been very helpful and responsive but they have no more ideas. Maybe I will try another or just buy a few more cameras.

I have a certain love for Arlo, so you can already say, this review is biased. But there is a reason why-- they just make just good products. Like this alarm system: Arlo cameras and doorbells have been around for a while but a robust alarm monitoring system—no. Arlo comes in a little late to the game but they arrive with something better than most if not the best.
First of all, it integrates easily with the existing Arlo system. This alarm system did not require the camera system, so it can operate independently. But it is also good to know that I easily added into the Arlo Secure app. Of course, given some updates, but nevertheless, it was easy. The app guided me through the installation but for any regular Joe, this can be done because the set up was pretty straightforward—no need for any hired professionals. The keypad is simple and can be taken out of the provided plug to be also powered through USB. Having a backup battery for the keypad is not included in this package but the USB workaround works for me. Because if we are leaving for a vacation for example, I can easily power it using a back up battery pack so there is no fear of it losing power. (My internet modem and router which is required by this Arlo device to monitor the house, is also backed by battery). One thing that I loved about the set up was, the app will actually make you go through the process of understanding the keys. So there is no excuse to just plug and play it without understanding how it works. Pretty good engineering in the part of Arlo, if you were to ask me.
Now, given the app, I have a much better dashboard that actually shows the log of everything that I asked the sensors to monitor, like temperature changes, occurred motion, light level changes (yes ambient light dude), and the main thing which was the opening and closing of the doors. The biggest plus for me is, this system is Google Home compatible. So the keypad and the sensors can be linked to rooms and actually be monitored using Google voice notifications. Though the keypad sounds (door opening /closing) is very audible, having google notifications is great for farther areas of the house that the keypad sound cannot reach. Just these features that I mentioned, already gives Arlo a big advantage.
Now there are some cons that I noticed—not deal-breakers but something that has to be considered:1) there are no straight door sensors. Each sensor is a multi-sensor that includes EVERYTHING (that can be toggled through the app depending on what you want to monitor). You can select one, some, or all. The downside is, this makes the sensors a little pricier that other systems that have just a door sensor. I mean, sure, let’s say I can afford to have these multi sensor with each moving hatch I have in the house, there will just be so much overlap and inefficiencies, like for example my family room, living room and dining are all in an open floor plan. So there are 5 doors round one space and one big opening window. Though I can turn off the motion detection in 3 of the 5 doors, it won’t make sense for the other two to have it—thus making me spend the cost of a sensor for the unnecessary doors. 2) The keypad has motion detection too—and is actually pretty accurate if you ask me. However, alarm keypads are usually placed by main doors of entrances—like ours, so we can easily toggle on/off as we go through the door. But that will mean that the keypad sensor overlaps with the door sensor on the door it is installed at. So again, a little “over equipment” if you ask me. Again, these cons are not deal breakers. It’s just having two best men to your wedding; nice to have but a little unnecessary especially if one best man (sensor), is not that cheap.
Overall, I love the system and I am going to replace my current set up with this. LOL. Because I like all-in-one solutions, and the fact that Arlo integrates into my home automation set up, is one of the best things. I have great Arlo cameras, awesome doorbell, and now the home security system all placed in one solution at home through Google which includes everything like my lights, TVs, wifi devices, etc—and I did it all by myself. Now I can have professional monitoring in conjunction with the automations I customized myself in my house. Thanks Arlo. Seriously, you rock.

I bought the Arlo system because it was supposedly harder to hack because of the frequency it uses. Unfortunately, it uses a QR code to launch set up and I tried for hours to get the QR code to work but it just didn’t. There wasn’t a customer service number to call and get tech support. So it went back to the store.

I bought a security system and flood lights on November 20th, and it was scheduled to be installed the following Saturday- and I have the TotalTech Plan. They installed items for me a few months ago, but now the store in Southaven, MS is telling me that installation is no longer a partnof the plan. What??

At first you're thinking, "Is this really it" upon seeing the contents of the Arlo Home security system with wired keypad I was a bit underwhelmed by the lack of James Bond futuristic gizmos and gadgets to protect my home. It's Arlo and they've been around the block since 2014, thus the James Bond expectations. Like the movies and gadgets, looks can be deceiving. Upon further inspection I realized they do more than sense if something was closed or not. The small plastic part that I know is an ambient light sensor made me read more into the details of the product and it piqued my interest. Never judge a book by its cover.
The two included sensors are extremely versatile when it comes to their intended use. I think one of the coolest things about this is the fact that you can detect leaks and water freezes. I have ran some indoor gardening projects that I've automated and have had issues like leaking water and that really cost me more than leaving my plants outside.I'd say it's a big bonus for the multiple uses and multiple ways it can help protect your home. The sensors also detect changes in light, tilt, motion, smoke/Co2 alarm noise detection, in addition to the water leak/freeze. I was pleased to find out that the hub itself can detect alarm sounds as well so you have a network of ears ready to aid in helping your home in the case that there is any unfortunate event.
The only downside is that I see myself going towards multiple security system apps for specific events, usages, commands etc. and multiple subscriptions. This is one of those scenarios where the company you choose to build your security system should be the company you stay with. Arlo was founded in 2014 and they have a very solid array of security features that come along to power your security hardware. It's becoming an increasing trend where a subscription is needed and the growing amount of companies that offer these services is saturating the market now more than ever. What distinguishes Arlo and sets it aside is its multiple options but they're most expensive is $24.99 and that includes their safety app features which half of them are already in your cellular devices existing software so I'd opt for the level below that. Again, this is one of those cases in where if you build a cloud based security system, things like this matter.
Setup was actually very easy. I had no issues with setting up and was up and running within no time. Would I recommend this to someone who doesn't want to contract someone to install an intricate security system and basically do it all themselves and have that very same company charge me a monthly premium to keep no bulky DVR boxes in my home? Yes. James Bond's gadgets and gizmos always had more than one use and seemed inconspicuous, just like Arlo. Police, Fire, Medical, at the touch of a button and the keypad that feels like you're disarming a very tech savvy device. That's pretty cool all while being safe and secure under Arlo's watch.

I absolutely love the Arlo Home Security for many reasons. This set comes with two 8 in 1 sensors that are small and discreet. Setuo was really easy which was convenient because i hate things that are too complicated to set up. I used one sensor on my front door and one sensor on my back door. While it is an 8 in 1 sensor and i love all the features of the sensor i have to say that I mainly use it for the open/close door alerts because as a mom whose children have mastered unlocking the door, I just love having this as an extra security. We also live in a rural area and during the day I sometimes forget to lock the door so the sensor is great to have if anyone tries to just walk in. I also love that it detects smoke, i feel thats an important feature to have. This set also provides Live Experts and Emergency Response with a paid plan which is great security & help in a time of need but you also dont need to have a paid plan to use this.
Everything in the box was organized an on point. The instructions were thorough and comprehensive. We hooked up the hub in our living room where its accessible to everyone in the home. One sensor was placed on our front door (in the living room) 2nd sensor was placed in our kitchen has a back door leading outside. The app is easy to setup and use. Evenfually i would like to get some extra sensors to secure our home more. Overall this is a great home security system in addition to our cameras.

Arlo Security System

I was excited when Arlo announced this home security system. I have experience with a competitor's products that also offer home security combined with cameras and other various sensors. Already having 4 Arlo cameras, the doorbell camera, and 3 of the spotlights, I was happy to add a security system into the family.
Setup of the system is pretty straightforward and the Arlo app walks you through the entire process. This does require updating the app to the latest version, which does provide a different user experience AND removes any existing modes that you have setup, so keep that in mind prior to upgrading. The new User Interface is greatly improved though, and I like the 'Feed' tab that shows you a timeline of any events encountered by your system including status changes, door sensor activities, etc.
Much they way the cameras behave, the security elements provides customizations that allow you to trigger events the way you want depending on which mode you are in. Although this does provide a wealth of customization, it does limit you to only 3 modes: Away, Home (Secured), and Standby. I haven't been able to customize the system quite like I the previous generation (with cameras only) where I could have my cameras be armed at night OR when nobody was home (through geofencing) but adhere to a schedule during the day (while somebody was home). I might just need to play with the settings a bit more. Another downfall is that I haven't had any success getting the system to change modes when somebody in the geofencing group returns to the house. It does work flawlessly to arm the system when everybody leaves, but we've had to manually disarm the system via the keypad or app when returning home. I'm hoping this is just a software issue.
I like that Arlo provides a single sensor that can perform multiple operations, although that does require more up front cost for each sensor, but you can get more monitoring out of a single sensor with this model. During setup, it only allows you to specify high level functionality (entry only, water only, fire only, etc), but the functions can be individually configured in the settings of the specific device. Additionally, the security system does not currently support Apple Homekit, but neither did the cameras initially. I would imagine there will be support for Home-Assistant for more advanced and technically savvy users soon.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this system. I don't know that I'll continue the monthly monitoring service as I really only want this for local monitoring, but I like that I only have to deal with one system for all monitoring.
