Customers highly value the ease of use, versatile sensors, and relatively easy installation of this home security system. Many appreciate the system's affordability and the customizable features offered through the user-friendly app. While some experienced challenges with WiFi connectivity and battery life, the positive feedback on core functionality outweighs these concerns. The included keypad and its features are also frequently praised.

Arlo Security System

I was excited when Arlo announced this home security system. I have experience with a competitor's products that also offer home security combined with cameras and other various sensors. Already having 4 Arlo cameras, the doorbell camera, and 3 of the spotlights, I was happy to add a security system into the family.
Setup of the system is pretty straightforward and the Arlo app walks you through the entire process. This does require updating the app to the latest version, which does provide a different user experience AND removes any existing modes that you have setup, so keep that in mind prior to upgrading. The new User Interface is greatly improved though, and I like the 'Feed' tab that shows you a timeline of any events encountered by your system including status changes, door sensor activities, etc.
Much they way the cameras behave, the security elements provides customizations that allow you to trigger events the way you want depending on which mode you are in. Although this does provide a wealth of customization, it does limit you to only 3 modes: Away, Home (Secured), and Standby. I haven't been able to customize the system quite like I the previous generation (with cameras only) where I could have my cameras be armed at night OR when nobody was home (through geofencing) but adhere to a schedule during the day (while somebody was home). I might just need to play with the settings a bit more. Another downfall is that I haven't had any success getting the system to change modes when somebody in the geofencing group returns to the house. It does work flawlessly to arm the system when everybody leaves, but we've had to manually disarm the system via the keypad or app when returning home. I'm hoping this is just a software issue.
I like that Arlo provides a single sensor that can perform multiple operations, although that does require more up front cost for each sensor, but you can get more monitoring out of a single sensor with this model. During setup, it only allows you to specify high level functionality (entry only, water only, fire only, etc), but the functions can be individually configured in the settings of the specific device. Additionally, the security system does not currently support Apple Homekit, but neither did the cameras initially. I would imagine there will be support for Home-Assistant for more advanced and technically savvy users soon.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this system. I don't know that I'll continue the monthly monitoring service as I really only want this for local monitoring, but I like that I only have to deal with one system for all monitoring.

To be straight and to the point, I do like this system. They did quite a bit right here, but there are also a few things that I think could be improved.
Everything included is nicely built, fairly compact, and well thought out (mostly, but more on that later). Initial setup for me was an easy process and I had zero issues. It was fairly straightforward, and more or less a matter of getting connected and following instructions. I feel most would have a similar experience.
Similarly, using the entire system is more of the same. Just simple. The keypad sensor hub is easy to understand with a clear interface that most will just instinctively pick up. Same with the all-in-one sensors and their deployment. Arlo gives you everything you need to place the sensors where you would like, with a variety of mounting options. That said, I do really wish there was an included better way to place/mount the keypad itself. I think it would work great wall mounted, but it is wired, and, frankly, it is just not a very clean look. I guess, as is, it works best as placed on a flat surface. I just think that is a miss here.
As for the sensors themselves, I think this is where Arlo absolutely excels. They seemingly do everything. Detect motion, open/close, water leak and freeze, smoke/CO alarm detection, and tilt or ambient light change detection. Beyond that the Hub itself also does motion and smoke/CO alarm listening. I am not up on home monitoring, but I was blown away that these things can do all of that. That said, I JUST WISH THERE WERE MORE INCLUDED. I guess this comes down to a cost issue, but I just feel people will want/need more of these things. I know I did. Especially given that they worked as advertised, and very well.
Another thing Arlo got right was their app. It has a clean interface, that is both well-designed and intuitive. It gives you a nice level of control over the system, as well as providing all the data you might need from a security perspective.
All in all, I am happy with this system, and I think it delivers on what is promises and performs well. It offers flexibility, reliability, and ease of use. As is, I think it is a “good” value, although I really wish it included some more sensors (you CAN purchase more individually). Further, while I feel the 24/7 professional monitoring options are “fairly priced,” it was just not something I was interested in. Lastly, I can’t help but feel that this would work even better if you also had more Arlo components as part of a larger system…

This thing that I enjoy most about this security system is the fact that it is compatible other Argo products as well as doorbell, cameras, they all sinc through the app really well. The functions that come with this security system is second to none. It has 8 sensing functions which was really impressive. Smoke and Co, water detection, motion detection is just a few. One of my favorite features on this i the motion detection With having small grandchildren’s put this by your doors you can tell is the little ones try to sneak out or he big one for that matter, we all know about the teenagers. This was very easy to set up and downloading this from the google store was effortless. You can customize the dashboard to your liking and set it up just the way you like it. It has a power adapter so when it starts to get low you can just plug it up top recharge it. I love the built in sensors that it comes equipped with. The one touch emergency response is a plus for this system so if you have an emergency, it is there for you in one touch. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this device.

Easy Install, Versatile Security System
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This security system turned out to be very easy to install, and also the clever design makes it a very powerful and versatile choice for your home. I installed the control box and two 8-way sensors using the Arlo Secure app on my Android cell phone (it would also work on an Apple product). I’d recommend the app so that you can control everything right from your cell phone; you can also control the system by using the buttons on the control box. A sensor can be configured to set up detection for 8 different situations at the same time. Initially I only set up Open/Close for windows. However, I can go back at any time and tell a sensor to Detect Smoke and/or CO2 for example. The other options are Motion, Water Leak, Freeze, and Tilt; amazing design - a tip of the cap to the Arlo designer engineers.
The app directed me through the complete install; you do need to use a 2.4 GHZ access point. It is recommended you connect your cell phone to the same access point (you may have additional access points defined in your home network.
Your first install will be for the control box to get it on your WiFi network. This is easy, just follow the steps in the app. Don’t try to go too fast, the system may have to take a few minutes to connect.
Although there are small screw-in mounting tabs included, you don’t need to use them unless the surface of your door or window is not relatively smooth. If you have cracked paint, for example, then use the tabs and then use the double stick tape to attach your sensors to the tabs. I had to use the tabs on the surface area of one of my older windows. Installation is so easy with the double stick tape that you will be amazed at how fast you have everything installed.
One thing I did, and expected it to work, was to first configure everything on my kitchen table. Then I unplugged the control box and moved it to my central spot. Next I installed (using double stick tape) the sensors on the two windows. I plugged the control box back in; and in a couple of minutes everything reconnected perfectly by itself. This told me that during power outages, once power is restored the system will not need to be reconfigured.
The process to use the system is very intuitive, but the app will walk you through it to ensure you know how to alarm and disarm the system.
One clever idea from Arlo is that when you first test a sensor, the system will mute the siren. This is great news if you have pets who may not like hearing a lot of sirens going off when you are just testing the system. The siren is not actually too loud, but enough to scare intruders.
You do have an option to subscribe to monitoring by Arlo which has a monthly cost. You can also program a button to quickly call Fire, Police or Medical assistance – just use the app to setup the phone numbers.
I highly recommend this versatile and very user friendly security system.

Great DIY Alarm System

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Arlo Home Security System is a great option for those looking for a simple, effective DIY alarm system. This particular system comes with the keypad hub unit and two 8-in-1 sensors. The keypad can also detect motion and listen for co2/smoke alarms. The 8-in-1 sensors can detect motion, tilt, open/close, water leaks or freeze, ambient light, and listen for co2/smoke alarms. Of course, they cannot detect all of these at once, they will depend on where and how you mount them. For instance, you would most likely put a sensor under a sink or near a large appliance to detect water leaks, so you wouldn't also be able to detect open/close or tilt with that particular sensor. Overall, the sensors are very versatile and offer many options for how to utilize them in your home. Setting the system up was a very simple process and maybe took 20 minutes from start to finish, but could probably be completed faster. The first step was to download the Arlo app and create an account. Once this is done, you just tell it you want to set up an alarm system, and from there it walks you step by step through the rest of the process. First was getting the base unit connected and set up on your wifi. Then, you set up and mount your sensors. I put them on my doors using the included adhesive. They also include mounts for screwing them onto the wall or even mounting them in a corner. Everything is very straightforward, and I think even the least tech savvy out there wouldn't have much trouble getting it all set up. You can also choose to have a 24 hour monitoring service, and they even provide the first month free if that is something you want to give a try. I decided to pass on this, but I'm sure given the simplicity of the rest of the process, that getting this set up would not be very difficult. Actually using the alarm system is just as simple and intuitive as the rest of the process. It even walks you through these steps while setting it up. If you've ever used an alarm system before, there's nothing really new here. You can set it for Armed Away, Armed Stay, and Unarmed. The difference between Armed Away and Stay is basically just motion detection. Away, and the alarm will trip if any motion is detected by the sensors. This can also all be customized in the app. For instance, when you select the sensors as door open/close sensors during setup, motion detection is turned off by default. I want motion detection to be on, so I was able to turn that on after the fact. It is all very customizable if you like to tweak things exactly how you want it. Overall, this is a very simple and effective home alarm system that is easy enough for most people to set up themselves, but also offers many customizable features for those that like customizing things. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an alarm system.

A Solid Stand Alone System With Potential

Arlo has a golden opportunity right now with the inevitable demise of Google’s Nest Secure Security System. There are many others, myself included, that have been left out in the cold by Google’s inability to listen to its customers and continue providing service for a solid DIY security system that we’ve invested a lot of money into. With that in mind, I was looking for a replacement. My requirements were the following:
- DIY simple with a no cost self-monitoring option
- Easy system usage for my family
- Sensor capabilities that mirrored Google’s, to include a bypass button and a nightlight
- Integration into to the Google Home environment
DIY and Self Monitoring
The simple answer is yes! Arlo provides free self-monitoring and does offer paid services as well. However the app itself leaves something to be desired, although it is simple to use. It is apparent though that Arlo is gearing this system toward someone that is already invested in the Arlo Environment of cameras and other devices.
Easy System Usage for My Family
Yes. The system is easy. However, having only one keypad and four doors to enter my house makes utilizing the app to disarm a necessity. Integration with smart locks would be a helpful solution, so that when a code is entered into the smart lock it also disables the security system.
Sensor Capabilities
The sensors are amazing and where this system shines! The amount they can do far exceed anything Google had to offer. They’re abilities are very impressive and include Motion Detection, Open and Close Detection, Water Leak Detection, Freeze Detection, Tilt Detection, Ambient Light Detection, Smoke Alarm Listening, and CO Alarm Listening. As I wanted, it has a system bypass capability, but it takes a little (not much) setup through the app. If you need help here is the link for that setup from Arlo :
https://kb.arlo.com/000062971/How-can-I-temporarily-bypass-security-on-my-Arlo-All-in-One-Sensor
The one thing it does not have is a motion activated night light feature. I know it sound petty, but this feature has been so helpful throughout the years in our current system. It’s a feature that no one appears to be offering to fill a market void! It should also be noted that the keypad has sensor capabilities as well. That’s pretty cool!
Integration into the Google Home Environment
The simple answer is no. And from other reviewers, I see that it does not integrate with Apple’s Home Kit either. This is a major issue for us considering every smart device we own integrates with our Google Environment. This unfortunately was the deciding factor in not going with Arlo’s home system in our house.
And although we decided to not go with the system, I am not saying I would not recommend it. Again, if you are already embedded in the Arlo Environment, this is a wonderful addition that provides many benefits. If you do not have a myriad of smart home devices that are working in an environment together, this is a wonderful and cheap way to bolster your home security. But if you’re looking for a system to integrate and amplify your current smart home environment, I would have to recommend you to look elsewhere unless Arlo is able to make changes to their integration process.

This is a great little addition to my home security. I love the 8-in-1 sensors. They really do provide some peace of mind. Opening the box and I received the keypad sensor hub with integrated cable, power adaptor, 2 8-in-1 sensors with mounting hardware. The mounting hardware included a flat plate as well as a corner plate.
Once you have everything unboxed, you download the Arlo Secure App to get started. Once downloaded and connected to wifi, it walks you through setting up the keypad sensor hub. Now it was time to set up the sensors. Simply open the app, tap the "+" button and it walks you through setting up the sensors. They are capable of detecting door open/close, motion, tilt, temperature, and light. In addition, they can also hear water leaks as well as listen for the co2 or smoke detectors. They really are handy little sensors!!
All in all, I found setup to be very easy and seamless. Arlo does not give much in the way of paper directions so you are wholly dependent on the app. I did not have cameras to connect so I cannot speak to that. Overall, I think this product performs as advertised.

I travel a lot for work and so I got the Arlo Home Security system in order to keep our home safe both while I am traveling and while I am at home. And since I travel so much for work I set up the system for my family and put the system’s account in my wife’s name. This proved to later cause an issue when I had to contact support to get a new keypad sent out.
Why did I need to contact support to get a new keypad? Well, it’s because of a weird issue with the keypad. And that weird issue was that someone in the factory incorrectly placed the “0” key and the “checkmark” key on the keypad with the “0” key being where the “checkmark” key should be and so their functionality was opposite of what the key showed on the keypad. This isn’t a huge issue except I didn’t want to take the keypad apart in order to fix it myself and so I contacted Arlo to have a keypad with the proper layout sent to me. And when I did so I was traveling for work, and so I had to do a conference call with Arlo & my wife in order for her to authenticate. This shouldn’t be needed because of a few reasons. One, we should be able to list multiple names/users each should have their own keypad codes. Two, I authenticated with support via email and I even notified the liaison I had for this system and sent photos, the serial numbers, barcodes, etc. so they had every bit of information they needed long before I ever called. They keypad being laid out wrong and the hassle of the support call did not give me the best experience as a customer.
Other than the keypad being incorrectly keyed, the setup was a breeze and the install of all the sensors on various doors was super easy and straightforward. I was surprised to see that the system works on the 5GHz band of my router because most systems like this only have the old Wireless G (aka 2.4GHz band) type of WiFi card. The 5GHz cards are more expensive than the older and slower Wireless G WiFi NIC cards and so most manufacturers will just go with the slower option, but not so with Arlo for this Arlo Security System.
Would I recommend this system? Even with my issues I experienced, yes, yes I would. The peace of mind it has given me as I travel for work has been great and I am very happy that I have this system in my home. The alerts are loud & operation via the keypad or the app is very easy. All-in-all I am very happy with this Arlo Home Security System.

We recently upgraded from an ADT system that we've had for years after they raised their monthly rate and the Arlo system is a huge upgrade from what we had before. We already had several Arlo cameras that this didn't have any issues integrating with, the many features give us a level of customization and control that we simply didn't have with ADT, and all for half the price. The system was incredibly easy to install, the 8-in-one sensors work flawlessly, and the controls from the Arlo app relay instantly to the keypad. Was so pleased with this system that I installed this for my mother as well when she advised that she wanted to switch her alarm system. Really solid product Arlo team!

I found this security system to be somewhat interesting. While this system is missing a camera(s), the sensors provide a much smaller footprint both from an installation and visual standpoint.
I've had separate sensors for motion, water leakage and temperature before however they're pretty specific in use case AND they came from different brands. Each of those brands usually had other available sensors but those would cost additional money which would bloat the overall cost of the system. This system has sensor that detect 8 different points which is kinda interesting in that you don't need separate sensors for everything now. Each sensor can detect motion, moisture, temperatures as well as a few other data points.
Having this flexibility is pretty nice actually since, wherever you put these, all bases are covered essentially. Installation of these sensors is double sided tape so you don't necessarily need to drill them into place which is nice if you're a renter. With the keypad, you can arm/disarm the system manually or use the companion app to do that.
Obviously if you get more sensors then that'll increase the cost of this system but, for me, 2 is good enough and I'd imagine it'd be the same for the vast majority of users. I live in a condo so I have one sensor on the door and one of the bedroom window. Probably will get 1 or 2 more but I think, for now, 2 is good.

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Arlo Home Security System with 1 keypad sensor hub, 2 sensors, and the additional 8-in-1 sensor, and I must say, I was quite impressed with its performance. In this review, I'll break down my experience with the setup, simplicity, the all-in-one sensors, the 8-in-1 sensor, the mobile app for both iOS and Android, the cost, and overall security.
**Setup (5/5):**
Setting up the Arlo Home Security System was a breeze. The included instructions were clear and concise, and I had the whole system up and running in under 30 minutes. The keypad sensor hub paired seamlessly with the sensors and the 8-in-1 sensor, and the entire process was hassle-free.
**Simplicity (4/5):**
One of the standout features of this system is its simplicity. The keypad sensor hub is user-friendly, with a straightforward interface that even a tech novice can navigate. Arming and disarming the system is as easy as entering a PIN code. My only minor gripe is that the keypad could have been a bit more responsive, but it wasn't a significant issue.
**8-in-1 Sensor (5/5):**
The addition of the 8-in-1 sensor takes the Arlo Home Security System to the next level. This sensor can detect not only motion and temperature changes but also humidity, light, smoke, carbon monoxide, and even water leaks. It's a true all-in-one sensor that provides comprehensive environmental monitoring for your home. This versatility adds a layer of security and peace of mind that's hard to beat.
**Mobile App (5/5):**
The Arlo mobile app, available for both iOS and Android, is a standout feature of this system. It provides real-time access to your security system and environmental data from the 8-in-1 sensor, allowing you to arm and disarm remotely, receive alerts, and even view live camera feeds if you decide to expand your setup. The app's interface is intuitive and well-designed, making it a pleasure to use.
**Cost (4/5):**
While the initial cost may seem a bit high, it's essential to consider the value you're getting in return. The Arlo Home Security System with the 8-in-1 sensor offers a comprehensive security and environmental monitoring solution. Additionally, the fact that it comes with multiple sensors in the package means you can secure multiple entry points and monitor your home's environmental conditions without having to purchase additional components right away.
**Overall Security (4.5/5):**
In terms of security and environmental monitoring, the Arlo Home Security System with the 1 keypad sensor hub, 2 sensors, and the 8-in-1 sensor delivers outstanding performance. It covers a wide range of security and environmental monitoring needs for your home. The system's reliability, ease of use, and the versatility of the 8-in-1 sensor give you confidence that your home is not only secure but also well-protected against various potential issues.
In conclusion, the Arlo Home Security System with 1 keypad sensor hub, 2 sensors, and the additional 8-in-1 sensor is a top-notch choice for anyone looking to enhance their home security and environmental monitoring. It's easy to set up, user-friendly, and provides comprehensive protection with its all-in-one and 8-in-1 sensors. The mobile app is a real highlight, offering convenience and control from anywhere. While the initial cost may be a consideration for some, the overall value and peace of mind it provides make it a worthwhile investment in home security and environmental monitoring.

I like my Arlo security system setup. This system is very easy to set up and sensors work very well, Ability to reuse the sensors with various functions is an added bonus that can't be matched by other security vendors out there. The reason behind 4 stars is that it is not easy to set up the system with Apple home (atleast for me). I saw a lot of forums where we need to contact support to get token reset, but in my opinion this should be an option within the app to regenerate tokens for Apple home kit integration. Also I do not have the ability to force a user to enter passcode when using the app while disabling the alarm (In my opinion this should be an option within the app that enables/disables passcode for specific users)

My son recently moved to an apartment for college, and we set him up with the Arlo Home Security System for his place. It is a very simple set up, and the two sensors was perfect to cover both his main apartment door and the sliding window to his balcony. We all felt reassured that his place would be protected, and covered by multiple different alerts. The Arlo system not only protects from break-ins, but contains a smoke and CO alarm. The keypad system can contact fire, police and EMS with the Emergency Response from the hub or the app.
Set up was simple. The sensors are attached to the door and frame or the window and frame system. They attach via adhesive strips that hold on pretty well. The smaller sensors have to be precisely set up with the magnet so that it reads perfectly. Once the magnets are separated from each other when the system is armed, the alarm is activated and you can really hear it. Connecting it to the home WiFi system was also effortless.
The app is where a lot of the control can be set up. The app is where you can control the system. If you connect cameras, you can add them to the system and are able to view it on the app, especially if you don’t want to get up and engage the keypad.
I do wish this came with more sensors, or additional adhesive strips if you wanted to relocate the sensors or if you move places. Overall, we are really glad to have this for his apartment and gives us the peace of mind of security in his place.

Pretty easy to install keypads. I love the flexibility of having wire-free keypads in different rooms. I do wish that the countdown was louder when you accidentally trip the alarm. The sensors take the longest to install but if you follow the steps on the app it’s a pretty smooth setup. It’s a nice DIY. Much better than being locked into a contract and paying a ridiculous price when you move before paying it off. Also nice not to be stuck with a stranger in your house for half a day setting up.

The Arlo - Home Security System with Wired Keypad Sensor Hub and (2) 8-in-1 Sensors is a great choice if you have the need.
My son is a US Navy Nuclear Engineer (EMN) and my wife and I have made investments throughout his career by purchasing small condos (1 and 2 bedroom) as he has moved fromr Goose Creed SC and then St. Marys GA. Being military towns, we know there will always be the need for qualified rentals.
That said, when I saw this opportunity, I was looking forward to it. It was a great opportunity to provide him a multi-use alarm/monitoring system is also portable. And that is exactly what ir does. It will follow him from SC to GA and allow us to have our properties protected while he is both home and away.
The unit comes with the control panel and two portable multi-monitoring sensors. The sensors monitor the following:
*Motion
*Open/Close
*Smoke
*CO
*Movement
*Water
Set up was simple and as mentioned, easlily portable. You can subscribe for a nominal fee professional monitoring if you choose.
End of the day, very unique product. If you have the need, this is a great option!
I would recommend this to a friend

After getting this installed and having it for a short while, I already feel at ease with the added safety and security it gives to our family. I like that it doesn't require a professional to install it, it's fairly easy to mount and set up.
The 8 sensing functions of this alarm system is its selling point. Personally, I am happy with the carbon monoxide detection and open/close door detection. It's been accurately detecting the latter so far (or accurately not detecting), so I am confident it works for all the other features.
The 24/7 live monitoring is superb! Most importantly, the one tap emergency response button is convenient and extremely helpful should the need for it arise.
Aside from these mentioned, I find the app to be intuitive and easy to navigate.
The design build of the sensors and the keypad hub kinda stick out. It doesn't blend well with our home 'aesthetic’. I wish it was more sleek and stylish yet still functional.
If you are in the market for a home security alarm system, I'd definitely suggest getting this one. It's worth the money given all the features it offers.
