Good device. Could be a brighter light though. Easy install but difficult to control and figure out.

They'ren't overly bright. They're a breeze to set up. The app isn't remarkable or perfectly intuitive but for the price and ease of set up they're worth the money.

The hub wouldn't pair, then it crashed when I was factory resetting it. I had to go back to Best Buy and make them give me new hub. Once the the hub was paired with my network the lights set up very easily. The app could be more intuitive (like the cameras), and the lights aren't bright enough to light your whole front yard or anything. The work well enough and for the price per light you get more than you pay for.

Full disclosure, I bought this on sale significantly discounted as part of a package/add on deal. I was hoping to augment the Arlo cameras with a nightlight for color recording. It was difficult to get the add on units to pair with the hub (don't know why Arlo couldn't have just connected back to the camera base station). The required hub supports only a small distance (maybe 30-50ft) between the hub and the light. In any case, I had to add a second hub to get coverage and to get three lights to connect. And then the reporting is spotty. Deeply discounted as a package, it's not a bad deal. Otherwise until they get it working more seamlessly, I would look at other options.

Really cool sensors plus effortless setup

The setup of the lights was incredibly easy, requiring only that you use the Arlo app on a mobile device to scan a QR code in the battery compartment of the light. The customizable LED light color is a great feature and we've used them to provide cool lighting effects at parties. Since I have the Arlo security cameras as well, I can use these motion detectors to trigger the cameras to start recording before the camera senses anything for more complete coverage. They are controllable via the Arlo app and can be set to be active during the same, overlapping, or separate periods as the cameras. Additionally, there is a feature that allows the sensor to trigger a motion alert without turning the light on which makes it easier to position them without worrying about it shining through your neighbors windows. We've chosen to leave the motion alert and the light turn on coupled so that it comes on whenever motion is detected within the scheduled time period. The fact that they are rechargeable is a great feature, however I would prefer the kit came with the wall charger so the batteries could be charged outside of the sensor. Though this kit comes with a wall charger and an extra rechargeable battery (3 total), the batteries can only be charged in the sensor which means it would need to be taken down to charge it. The wall charger docking station is available for purchase separately (~$14.99 I think) but feel like the cord for connecting the battery directly to the charger should've been included to allow for quick swap out. While they do work with Amazon Echos/Alexa via the Alexa Arlo skill, the operation via Alexa is pretty buggy but I expect this to be fixed through updates to the Alexa skill. I personally would like a customize-able arm/disarm code word so I could say "Alexa, Arm Arlo Sensors [code word]" on my way out and visa versa once I get home. Overall, these sensors are great and come with a ton of very customizeable options and features, however it seems they are a bit overpriced considering the non-smart option only costs about $15 per motion sensor light. They are a great addition to existing Arlo systems and I would recommend them. I received this sensor kit as part of a testing and review program through the NETGEAR First Look Review Program.

First Look Review - New Release

I'm an astro/aero engineer, so I'm attempting write an informative review from my perspective. Hope it helps you. SETUP: Very easy to set up. Three screws to secure the mounts to where you want it. Install and use the Arlo app to setup the two security lights. The app requires you to scan the QR code on the bridge and each light to setup. My smartphone is a little older and had a difficult time scanning it. Plug the bridge into the power socket and follow the app instructions. Lastly install the battery, screw the lights to the mounts and you're done. HARDWARE: The light mounts are good quality. They're made of mostly metal and the design is the same as the other common mounts. The ones that I bought for my Arlo security cameras are very similar except for the metal ball for the magnetic attach feature. The mounts that came in the box are screw on to the light type. This is good, makes it harder to steal it but also harder to remove to charge the battery. The security light itself is good but is only rated at 400 lumens. Its not super bright but it will light an area, so you can see what's in front of you. The battery lasts a long time even if you have it set to full power. There's a trade-off between battery life and light brightness. It's designed for battery life. If you have the Arlo security cameras, the you can sync with the lights, so the image quality is better. This is probably the case with all security cameras in low light. They complement each other well. I mounted one of the lights in front of my parent's house. Now they don't have to fumble to their front door in case they forget to turn on the porch lights or come home later than planned. SOFTWARE: The lights can be controlled using your smartphone, table, or computer using the Arlo app. It's the same app that also controls your other Arlo devices like the security camera system. It will tell you your battery level, time the lights remain on after triggered by motion, and many other things. I set the lights to turn on via the motion sensor only from dusk to dawn and to also start recording on the security cameras. I set the motion sensor to the maximum range which is about 25 ft. It's not too sensitive that it turns on with insects, etc. but it could a little more sensitive. Overall, the app is very easy to use, it didn't take long to go through all its features. CONCLUSION: These security lights are a good alternative to the common wired-in security lights, especially if you don't want to run new wiring. There's also the added benefit of being able to control them with your smartphone and change the settings on the fly. I have several Netgear products and when I contact their support center, they have always treated me well and resolved my issue. I received this item for free as part of the Netgear First Look program. They send me new to market products for an un-biased review.
