This is an all around good wireless HD security camera system that includes free cloud recording. You are able to use either camera completely wireless or wired, the only advantage to being wired is that it is the only way to set up activity zones or to use the optional continuous recording. When set up to do so it will send you mobile alerts and/or emails of activity that is recorded throughout the day, it also includes the ability to remotely sound the alarm that is built into the base system as a deterrent. This is not a full suite security system, it is a camera system that has the ability to sound an alarm manually. It will not set off an alarm if something moves in one of the zones and it does not have the ability to add any door or window sensors into the system. If you are looking for a replacement security system this is not where you want to look, however if you are looking for a fully capable security camera system with remote management available this is exactly what you want.

I have (3) Arlo - Pro 2's. I access them several times a day to keep an eye out on my aging parents and as an alarm when I am out. Have had no issues and found it very easy to setup.

The Arlo Pro 2 wireless home security cameras are a great addition to my house. Having these cameras means that I can now look in on my dogs when I'm away from home, I know when packages are delivered and I can tell if anyone is snooping around. The system includes an extremely loud alarm that can be activated using the app or set to activate when motion is detected. Be careful testing this alarm because it is deafeningly loud, which is great! The added security and peace of mind is well worth the cost in my opinion. Plus you get 7 days of free cloud recordings and have the option of adding up to two USB flash drives for backup storage. The app is user friendly and has a lot of great options for setting up motion detection, alerts, geo-fencing and more. The cameras were really easy to set up but I wish the included mounts were held to the wall with more than one screw each, it seems stable but at this price an extra screw would be nice. The picture quality is fantastic and you can zoom in and pan around using the app. The motion detection works perfectly and can send you notifications and/or emails when motion is detected. If you hardwire the cameras you can set specific motion zones so that it will only send an alert if motion is detected in that specific zone. The battery life is supposed to last for up to 4 months but I suspect I'll have to charge them about once per month based on my current usage. This isn't too bad for me, they are in easy to reach locations and charge with the included USB cord on any outlet. I like that Arlo is an expandable home security system that allows me to buy additional cameras and accessories as they become available. I've been so impressed with the system that I'm considering getting a couple more cameras this coming Black Friday. I would highly recommend the Arlo Pro 2 camera system to anyone looking to add more security to their home, or anyone who just wants to peek in on the pets from time to time.

The installation is quick and easy. The Video Quality is great and all the equipment seem durable. The Hub is very light and feels like it is hollow but the Siren is Very Loud. What I love the most is that it pairs up with my Samsung Smarthings. Only con is that it is very pricey even though the Ultra already came out and this hasn't drop on price.

Good clarity on the cameras. Love that they were wireless and did not have to have somebody come out and drill holes in my house. Batteries are lasting a long time, great night vision. Alarm inside home would definitely scare someone off. Recommended it to my brother he bought one extremely happy as well.

Was very easy to install. Had a few hiccups getting the app up and running because I also use NETGEAR which is the parent company and so the app thought I was already signed up for Arlo when I was not. After that, it has worked really well even though I am away vacationing. I actually get too many notices with wind and passing cars setting off the motion alarm. There is probably a way to change it but I do not have to research it.

Great camera but not a great alarm system

The app is modern and easy to navigate. Installation was super easy. The magnet is powerful and holds the camera in place despite heavy winds. Syncing the cameras to the base was a breeze. Camera captures motion and sound and begins recording immediately, which is great! Here is the problem, this is a monitor system and not an alarm system, I feel hostage to my cell phone and apple watch with fear that I will miss alerts should someone break into my property. The camera will capture everything, however, the alarm will not sound unless I activate it. I feel there should be a security mode that triggers a siren automatically. This is my only negative remark. On another note, hello NETGEAR, you failed to consider that some clients like me would like "both" cameras hardwired to the A/C at the same time. Why didn't you include two cables?? 2 cameras should equal 2 cables! Makes sense, right?

This was my first security system setup and I can't believe how easy it was. I use the app every day to make sure it is working properly. The pictures are clear. The alarm is so loud it scared us when we tested it out! They say the batteries last 6-8 weeks before charging but I'm 4 weeks in and have had to charge 2 of them so far. Love it and would recommend it.

Very easy to setup and very easy to place your camera, you can place the camera anywhere and the camera battery last a long time. Camera viewing angle is very wide and the alarm is very loud. Camera has night vision and very good motion sensor that does not get tricked by change of lighting. It comes with free online plan where it will automatically record video and notify you via an app when alarm is triggered. The recorded video is very good, sharp and clear. I own many security cameras including Foscam, Annke, z-ben and Hikvision and this is the best security camera.

    Lacks basic features

I dont see any pros in this such an exoensive camera when it lacks basic features. Triggers alarm even when it detects moving trees, cats, clothes etc. night vision is very poor without a light. Finally it turned cameras off and I cant even return it. When I called arlo customer sevice, I was told I need to buy monthly subscription package to use smart features. Moving trees and cats are not smart features for me, thats basic features any cameras should have. Another problem is battery. It died within 2 months.

Directions are minimal. Cameras are not easy to hook up the first time and get the alarm not to go off each time you try and walk by. Every time there is motion or noise the alarm goes off. We had to go back to the store and have the attendant that owns the system assist in setting the system up for us. The batteries died quickly the first week we had the system as even the wind made the camera catch the sound outside. I have had the system about 3 months now and we are getting the hang of how to use it now. It's just ok in my opinion.

I'm an OTR Trucker and welcome home. Nice to keep an eye on things while away. The sensitivity is to much for the front of house area. I always turn it off. Regular maintenance, lawn care, mowers, etc, always set off motion alarm. 30 times in 1 hour, so I must turn it off. Forgetting to turn it on at night. The inside one in the kitchen is always on though.

I use it both wired and wireless. Just make sure to have fast internet. For the people that have att internet service, you might have alot of issues using this camera wireless. I would recommend Comcast internet service if you decide to use this wireless. The siren feature is loud. I really like the arlo application update, new features are usually added. For me the battery life using wireless is around 2 months, then I had to recharge. I started to use it wired and had no issues so far.

In a house where I already have 3 standalone cameras which all require some level of direct web access to view with limited playback capability, the Arlo was a great enhancement to our existing system. Extremely easy to set up, I was up & running within 15 minutes and already pulling HD quality images, with it taking a little bit longer to set up the alerts & zones. I've used this to monitor packages being delivered to the house (thanks to the kids ignoring the door bell), easily capturing faces, etc. and the alerts come quickly to my smartphone. Out further, cars are easy to recognize but those complaining you can't see license plates need a reality check on what true video capability is (this isn't television where you can zoom in, nor are these NSA-quality cameras). The siren is loud but I opted to not use for the time being. I do find the add on cameras to be pricey (at north of $200 each), but the quality certainly warrants it. With 2 cameras included, it's enough for most people to cover 2 entry points in the house. In the end, this is an excellent system with ease of use & set up and required very little in terms of technical know-how to get working quickly.

State of the art: high resolution + new features

Having researched security cameras for my home, we wanted to try Arlo Pro 2, since it's the most flexible and provided every feature needed for customizing its operation. We were not disappointed. Setting up the cameras was a snap, guided by the Arlo app. It connected flawlessly in only 3 steps. In addition to being able to watch over my home in the case of a break-in, we now worry much less about packages delivered to my doorstep when I'm not home- what peace of mind! And because it will become part of a larger security set-up in my home, the "If This Then That" capability integrates with smart locks and lights to create an integrated system. The camera itself is compact enough to fit anywhere. Because it's both weatherproof and wireless we were able to extend our monitoring to outside right away, to watch the house. Our house is over 4000 sq feet, and the cameras communicate with the hub without problems We love the rechargeable battery, a feature many cameras don't have. I haven't had it long enough to test how long it works, but if it's anywhere near the advertised six-months, it will be more than enough. The recordings are clear and have great detail that you can see by zooming in. It provides clear and sharp video; the 180 resolution is probably more than we need. It has an amazing new feature that effectively backs up time and shows a few seconds before the motion triggers the recording. Because my family has a changing schedule, the flexibility in scheduling armed and disarmed status is particularly handy- we don't want to record the interior when we're home. We still are discovering the many features offered by the Arlo Pro2, such as the ability to talk through the system, and control the loud alarm. Compared to a monitored alarm, it would pay for itself quickly. I received the Arlo Pro 2 Wire-Free Security System with 2 HD Cameras from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program, and the above comments are based on my actual experience after unboxing, setting up and using. At this point, this new version is "state of the art" and must-have for a modern smart home.

Purchased this camera to monitor my garage after a vehicle break-in and this works perfectly! Great picture!! Initially I was concerned about battery life because the location where I'd planned to mount it did not have an outlet accessible however I've had it up for 6 weeks and the battery life is only at 50%. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the overall functionality. The "alarm" feature seems a little backwards. The alarm is on the base station and not the camera which doesn't make a lot of sense. You would think that they would have the alarm capability on the camera since that is what captures the movement or noise. Since the base station requires a hard connection to the internet it is near the modem therefore not outside where the alarm would make the most sense. Overall a great system, I intend on adding additional cameras.

    Arlo Security System

We looked around at different security systems and several recommended Arlo. We finally decided that we had to try it. We are so glad we did! The clarity of night vision is great! It's great at picking up sounds and easy to speak to someone. Sometimes there's a slight delay but, only seconds. The daytime clarity is like looking out of your window and seeing someone! The ONLY thing we wish it did was sound an alarm at each camera instead of only at the main system. If someone comes around where they aren't suppose to be, I don't only want to let them know I see them with my voice. I'd like all my neighbors to be able to hear the alarm to make them aware there's someone trespassing! This could save a lot of phone calls.

It has been two weeks since I connected this set of security cameras from Netgear and so far I am very happy with its performance. It's very easy to install just connect Arlo's base station to your router and follow the instructions: press power button wait few seconds to get connection then press the sync/ siren button on top of your base station wait for the light to start flashing then press the sync button on your camera and wait for the blue light to start flashing fast and do the same with the other camera. I did set the internet connection first and then I downloaded the app on my phone which is very easy to use, once I created my user profile I got an email asking me to confirm my email address to complete the Arlo Account setup. In the App you can create your own recording schedule, you can modify your setting for each camera individually ( just adjust your settings according your needs like activate motion detection, recording, turning on /off cameras, deleting videos). For video storage I plugged an USB thumb drive at the back of the station. Also you will get 7 days free storage on the cloud. One thing I liked a lot is the freedom to move the cameras anywhere you want in seconds and the battery supposed to last up to six months. Also beware the siren is very very loud. I am using both cameras inside, one at living room and the other one on my daughter's room; so far they are working fine they are 1080p resolution and two ways audio. I heard that using outdoors the quality is not that great or they can be stolen easily but at the end is up to you where you want to use them or place them. I would recommend Arlo Pro 2 because it's easy to use, basically plug and play and the most important: gives you a good security system that you can monitor from your phone, tablet or computer.

I bought the Arlo Pro2 with 4 cameras and bought an additional camera to cover my home. I've had this system up for a few months now and I am so sorry I bought it. Common problems I've daily are: - The talk function doesn't seem to work and if the person can hear me I am unable to hear them. - When I view the live option it's very slow to load and most always there's lag and I am so frustrated by this. - I've never been able to take a picture as that function has never worked. - It only records when movement happens and it will record for about 20 seconds. If movement is not directly in the center of the cameras eye, it stops recording motion. - I feel this product is overpriced and should be at least below half the price. The only positive thing I can say: - I am able to watch my cats sleep during the day. - The picture quality is above average. - I've the ability to scare away a would-be robber with the alarm feature that only sounds from inside the home. Can't say anything more past that.

Great set of wireless security cameras

The Arlo 2 is an excellent set of security cameras, if a little expensive. Connectivity and Initial Setup: The setup is actually quite easy and very literally 'plug and play', though that's a negative as well... The base station REQUIRES a wired connection. In this world of WiFi, I find it hard to believe they could not put a wireless radio in the station to allow for it to be placed in more locations. I understand that the cameras can be, but being that the base station is where the siren is, if you have your router in a closet/basement/etc and have to put the base station there too, who will hear the siren? Obviously we all know that routers should be centrally located in a house to provide optimal WiFi reception, but in all honesty, I can't recall a single time where anyone I know has actually been able to do that. The camera batteries come with a full charge so there is no need to wait on them to charge for initial setup and use. In addition, the charger uses a micro usb cable of good length so there shouldn't be any difficulties locating this in a useful place. Once done connecting the base station and waiting for the somewhat lengthy boot up, it then becomes a simple task of installing the app on your phone and progressing through the inital set up phase (syncing cameras, etc). All is very straightforward and I was done in a matter of minutes, with the longest portion being the actual account creation with Netgear. The app allows for logging in with fingerprint if your device supports it, so that was nice to see. They give you the option of using the free standard 7-day 5-camera monitoring and cloud storage on initial setup, there are also 2 options for more devices and more length of time. I think in most cases the basic (free) plan is plenty for most home users. Usage: Immediately upon setup I was bombarded with notifications for motion sensing, so I had to go back that setting down in the app, again a fairly simple process. The video quality is phenomenal in daylight, I was very impressed, and while on the same network or on 4G LTE the framerate of the video is excellent. The view angle is good, allowing me to see a very large portion of a 20 ft wide family room from a centrally located fireplace mantle. Audio comes through well and I had no difficulties hearing what my family was doing in the room I had it set up in. The upgrade to 1080p over the previous generation Arlo is a welcome one and looks excellent. Dark performance was on par with most night-vision capable cameras, which is to say it worked well, but I wasn't blown away. The siren is extremely loud. I understand that this should go without saying, however in using other similar systems, one of the more common complaints is that the siren is too quiet. I can honestly say in this instance that's not the case. The battery life is excellent, with intermittent use I've gotten a great deal of life from the batteries, though if you leave the motion sensors and such enabled, I'm sure it will greatly reduce that longevity. The Amazon Alexa support is cool, and if you have an Echo Show, it allows you to view the cameras from the Echo itself, though unless you're using it for watching a baby sleep, or monitor who is at your front door, this would probably be of limited use. Bottom Line: The Netgear Arlo 2 stands out in that the cameras are completely wire-free. The motion sensitivity is good though it does not appear to 'learn', but there are adjustments for that sensitivity. I do think, however, that with the capability of adding more cameras to the unit, this may be one of the easiest ways for multi-point visual and motion security for many people, especially since you can really place the cameras anywhere. Really my only gripe with this set is the price. When competing against other options in the segment, this is on the higher end, especially when compared to other camera-only systems.
