I have the doorbell camera, flood light, and Pro 3. Very easy to use and sharp pictures. Love the zoom feature and ability to save and share. Only 2 negatives but they are a big nuisance. The lag time from when you alerted until you can review on the library is at least 30 seconds. That’s a long long time if you want to see who your camera is picking up at 2am. Other negative is you and your spouse or another person cannot view at the same time or it will kick you off. This happens mostly if the doorbell goes off and you both try to answer it. Then all of a sudden, neither can. A great product but it still needs work to be the best.

    Downgrade from Arlo Pro 2

I have 20 arlo pro 2 cameras so when I saw that Arlo released the Arlo Pro 3 after their failure Arlo Ultra, I decides to give this a chance. Not surprisingly the same complaints that people had with the Arlo Ultra, which was the lower quality issue and connecting issues, the Arlo Pro 3 suffers from the same problems. Compared to the Arlo Pro 2, the Arlo Pro 3 has a lower quality imagine even though its supposed to be a higher resolution and the colors are darker and washed out. Also connecting is an issue and so is the motion sensor. It doesnt pick up things as well as the Arlo Pro 2 does. I totally should have read the review online on Amazon prior to purchasing this downgrade. Look at the pictures in this review to make your own judgement. A video of the same area from an Arlo Pro 2 versus 3. You can clearly tell the Arlo Pro 3 has darker colors and looks like its lower quality.

Wanted to really like these but there are small issues. Lost connection sometimes. Had to buy a lot of accessories for it to get it to work in my set up. Added power cords to all of them because with New England winters the batteries would drain way too quickly and climbing up to change them is a pain. Like that they have a magnetic power cord. App is pretty good and video quality is good even when you zoom in. Have to pay monthly subscription stinks but I get that you are using their servers and there are cost involved on Arlos end. These require a hub that has to be connected to your router. It was tricky getting it in a spot that would reach all cameras. Luckily I have a mesh system so I was able to plug it into one of the satellites so it would reach all cameras. Most people cannot move there router. There is a delay in watching the live feed which is annoying. It is wireless though. Newer models may be better as they do not require a hub. I really like them though. They are handy. Not sure if at this stage there are better options. Maybe in a few years.

Well I’ve had arlo cameras for the past 2 years. When I purchased my new home I wanted security cameras. Is one of those things that I rather have and don’t need. Than need and don’t have... after a few weeks of reading reviews and doing some online research. I decided to purchase arlo pro 2. I honestly wanted all the features the camera can offer like creating zones. So I installed the cameras with some all weather power cables. When the arlo ultra came out I couldn’t justify spending that amount of money for new cameras when the arlo pro 2 are doing their job. Plus the ultras required a subscription to save recordings to the cloud. Not like the pro 2 that came with a 7 day cloud storage free of charge. Then the arlo pro 3 came out, they have everything I was looking for in a camera. Higher resolution 2k, spotlight, wire free, and the same features as the arlo pro 2. Plus they could work with my existing base stations and have the 2k resolution. The problem is that arlo to solve the issue of not offering free cloud storage for the pro 3 and the ultra they offered direct access to local storage. That means to use an external hard drive to store locally the surveillance from the cameras. The problem is that the ultra and pro 3 still needs firmware fixes. The camera are awesome but they loose connectivity, start not detecting motion, stop recording and other problems. The arlo pro 2 when they first came out had similar problems. I’m sure with time they will fix this issues.... do your research. I choose this cameras because their performance and they have what I was looking for. Ring and other companies you have to pay for cloud storage and they don’t offer local storage. FYI to access local storage you need the new base stations that come with the arlo pro 3 and ultra“Vbm4540” “vbm5000” just do your own research in the arlo websites and community forums.

Pro 3s Are Not Very Good

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I’ve had 3 Pro 2’s from almost day one when they came out and recently purchased 3 Pro 3’s, the 3s have better overall picture quality other than the color night video quality is worthless with no option to go to black and white, Pro 2s win easy in low light without night vision turned on and the pro 2s don’t make a clicking noise all the time… it’s crazy to hear that noise all night from them and why do they do that? I’m using the pro 3 hub for both the 2s and 3s and all was good until my trial ran out for cloud storage (that I never used) I have local storage set on all cameras with a 52gig usb card. My pro 2s work fine with the phone alert, hit count and playback, 3s will advise I have motion or sound but will not save or playback even after uninstalling and reinstalling connection to the hub and trying it again. Arlo Support can’t answer why the pro 2s work but not the 3s… They actually said it must be my usb storage card even when I asked them why my 2s work fine on the same storage card?…That went unanswered then it was my storage was full!! Yet my 2s keep on recording and my storage says it’s only 10% full. Again no answer. Troubleshooting online is pushing me towards buying online cloud storage. It’s bad enough when Arlo can access ANYBODY'S Live Cameras at will as they did with mine to “troubleshoot”. Read the fine print people even 3rd party’s (guess who that is and you thought it was creepy when disturbed people would hack baby monitors) can access your cameras or saved videos “under certain conditions”. You want privacy this is not the camera for you and why I don’t want “cloud” storage.. I want 100% Control of my Content recorded on my Property and who has access to it. 4 days of technical support and my P3s are still unusable other than watching live streaming. Waste of Money and Yielding Your Privacy Rights is not Worth it in My Option.

      Hello NoThanksArlo,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your Arlo Pro 3 experience. To disable colored night vision mode, please go to camera's settings and disable its spotlight. As for you Arlo Pro 2 camera producing a ticking sound, try powercycling it by taking its battery out and inserting it back in.

To further assist you with the other concerns mentioned above, please send us an email at [email protected] detailing your concern, including your email address linked to your Arlo account, your contact number and a screenshot of your Best Buy review.

We look forward to hearing from you.

I purchased the 4pcs. Arlo pro 3 system for my house. They are great for my purpose, with excellent night vision. The fairly wide angle of view offers me a wide array of mounting locations as they cover a lot of area. Battery life is OK, but it all depends on how you set the cameras up. I have elderly at my locations so I have them running all the time. The remote app is pretty good and intuitive, makes the system that much better. You will need to purchase additional mounting stands, they only give two tower mount and the other two are magnetic. I would definitely recommend these.

I purchased this system after reading many reviews and all the Q&A I could find. The system works great, absolutely love the coverage, the mobile app and ease of monitoring the cameras is understated, the cameras have a decent range or coverage and they have a good wireless connectivity given distance from the modem. I will improve the wireless range when I relocate my modem out of my basement. I currently have 5 cameras for the property, one at all corners of the house, and a separate unit on my detached garage about 150 feet from the house. This system requires a subscription service for cloud storage, the fee is reasonable, I believe you pay for the quality. So far, 2 weeks in, the only challenge I foresee is the battery life on 2 cameras furthest from the modem seem to draw fairly quickly, I may have to find a suitable location to run a plug to an outlet, or try a solar hookup on these two. These cameras are pretty sensitive to motion, they do capture almost everything even a bird on the lawn, -I have dropped the sensitivity to minimal and but still getting alerts like crazy. There is an option to silence the alerts in increments for up to 24 hours, I would like to see an alerts off option, that allows the camera to continue to capture the motion and save to the cloud for review if needed, but not alert the phone for every event. Otherwise this is the system to own.

I am all in with Arlo, Now have 8 cameras and 2 Spotlights. I moved up and replaced 4 Arlo Pro 2 with Pro 3's. The reason was the Pro 2 batteries were dying within a week, and I liked the idea of better night HD in color. Darn, Pro 3's seem to be dying pretty quickly. The spotlight on them is great, and bright, beautiful for inside and out. I hope the 2 really new ones I bought don't die so quickly (2 days).

Ill make this as short and detailed as possible for people who dont wanna read a book for a review. The quality is great during the day and at night its good. The motion lights arent super bright but it gets the job done. You can control the light on the app by turning it off and on. I have no outside plugs so this was perfect for me. Charge about once a month or every 6 weeks with heavy traffic. I did have to get the arlo plan for 10 bucks a month. It does give you smart notifications which helps out a lot. Has about a 30 second delay but if they going to do something, they dont care about a camera but at least you recorded them. App is easy and install is easy. I would recommend for your basic security. If you trying to get a great security camera that catches everything and records far out, this aint it. Hope this helps.

This camera itself is great, and I purchased with the solar charger so I haven’t touched it since it went up this summer, love that. I just wish I didn’t have to start paying for the arlo subscription since none of my other (non-4K) arlo cameras have to. Great FOV and image quality, happy with ability to jump on and view live when motion has been detected.

I have the arlo pro 2 cameras.. Figured I get the pro 3 and see if there was a huge difference.. What a disappointment.. Pro 3 has a wider view but the camera seems washed out.. The color night vision is so bad.. The night vision on pro 2 is much better. The only thing better on the pro 3 is the speaker is much better.. Much louder.. Plus you can have it set to alarm if motion is detected..but the alarm must be turned on.. They need to have a toggle switch to sound the alarm at anytime.. That would be great.. But il be returning my pro 3..il stick w the pro 2..also staying w pro 2..the Batts are all the same along w the chargers.

Have two arlo 2 and worked great. This one had MUCH better video quality. You get a trial with cloud storage but after it’s fine you HAVE TO PAY to keep it. So basically two of my cameras are grandfathered in and the new add on is not unless I pay. Other than that great product.

Pretty good picture for a wire free camera. I think the picture on the Ultra when zoomed is a little better but that's about it. Battery life is not the best if it's in view of much activity. I have yet to try a solar panel. That will be my next purchase.

The arlo 3 camera is a great camera especially for home security monitoring. You can program activity zones so if you have a flag you can program it to exclude that section and you don’t get a million alerts every time the flag moves!! It also has a spot light that turns on at night when noise or motion is detected so that’s great to help deter unwanted guests. It also will alert you to the type of activity is happening (package delivered, animal movement, person detected, noise, etc). It’s a great all around camera and super easy to set up!!
