I bought the Arlo Pro 3 (6th Gen, 2025) set with 3 cameras and the dual charging station, and I’m absolutely thrilled!
Setup was super simple — the cameras are wireless, connect quickly to Wi-Fi, and the 2K HDR image quality is impressive, even at night.
I love being able to monitor everything from the app, get motion alerts, and even talk through the built-in microphone. Plus, the battery lasts a long time, and the dual charger keeps one always ready to go.
Perfect for keeping my home safe without any hassle.Totally recommend this security system — practical, modern, and performs beautifully

The camera is a compact and wireless security camera system that’s super simple to set up anywhere, indoors or out. The video quality is sharp, night vision is in full color, and the app lets you check footage, talk through the camera, and set custom alerts right from your phone. Love the dual charging station for convenient battery swaps, but just keep in mind: cloud storage and a few advanced features require a subscription.

I absolutely love my Arlo surveillance cameras! Now the entire area around my house is fully covered, and every movement is detected. I finally feel safe and protected knowing I can check everything anytime. It’s also amazing that I can see what my kids are doing outside, even when I’m not there. The picture quality is great, and the system works perfectly. Definitely worth it!

Verdict: Great three-camera package! It includes 3x pro cameras, 4x batteries, a charging doc, and a nice yard sign. With super simple installation and high-quality performance, I think Arlo is getting better and better at delivering nearly plug-and-play video security. I think this is a great package for new users of Arlo as well as existing users. Of note, to get the most from these cameras, you will need to pay a subscription. I hope this review is helpful to guide an informed purchase decision.
Background. I am heavily invested in the Arlo ecosystem. We have over twenty total Arlo devices ranging from older Pro cameras, a floodlight, a doorbell with chime, two base stations, essential cameras, pan-tilt cameras, and now these three new Pro (6th Gen) cameras. I also pay annually to access premium services. While I would prefer not to have a subscription, I find the value I receive to be worth the cost: unlimited cameras, unlimited storage on a rolling 60-day basis, protection zones, identification of camera triggers, animated previews (I used this several times a day), automation, etc.
First impressions. The package includes a yard sign, 3x cameras, 3x mounts, 4x batteries, and a charging doc for two batteries. It’s a perfect little package for a foundational capability. The yard sign is quite nice actually. I love that the cameras include a spotlight.
Setup. The cameras connect through Wi-Fi, so while they don’t have to be plugged in, they do need to remain in good Wi-Fi range to work properly. The quick start guide includes QR codes for setup. If you already have the Arlo app, installation is extremely easy and quick by just pressing the + sign in the Devices section. These cameras do no connect through a base station, which means there is no local storage, and thus no access to recorded videos without paying for a subscription. Installation took me just 15 minutes, with the bulk of that time waiting for each camera to update. For two cameras, I used existing mounts from very old Pro cameras (mounts are compatible), so the physical installation was quick.
Subscription model. If you are willing to pay ~$17.99/month indefinitely, you get a powerful system with unlimited cameras, storage (rolling 60 days), and other advance features. Subscription cost for a single camera is ~$7.99/month. It's worth mentioning that prices have gone up significantly over the last year or two, so they probably will continue to go up over time. With an Arlo Secure Plan, you can (1) Access video and event history for a rolling 60 days, (2) Detect a person, package, vehicle or animal, (3) Customize Smart Activity Zones for alerts, (4) create automation or dependencies with other cameras, and more.
Without subscription. After the free trial ends, users will still have access to live-streaming, push notification, and two-way audio. However, please note that you will not be able to view recordings… so you will get push notifications but will not be able to view the recorded videos associated with that specific notification. Perhaps, one work around could be to livestream your cameras when you receive a notification, and then use your phone’s native screen recorder to record something important. In the even that you miss the notification, you will not have any video footage of the event.
Performance. I am quite happy with my Arlo system, and I absolutely love the new Pro (6th Gen) cameras. Image quality is excellent. Notifications are faster than ever before, and they also have live preview of movements, which is really helpful to quickly assess if a recording is worth viewing. The spotlight is nice for convenience at night and as a deterrent. Integration with other Arlo devices is seamless. In all, the app offers a lot to monitor, download, customize, etc. Live streaming takes about 3-4 seconds to connect. This is actually a significant improvement from older cameras. One of my old base stations now takes about 20 seconds to connect every time I open the app, so I have to wait to see any of the older cameras that are connected through that base station. It will soon be time to retire that base station and cameras, and replace it with Wifi ones.
Things I love:
- Great value for the price for 3x pro cameras and extras
- High-quality video! Best looking feed we’ve ever had
- Wider field of view (160 degrees)
- Great night-vision video and great video with the spotlight
- The spotlight on the camera is convenient at night and acts as a deterrent
- Dual-band wifi, with automatic switching
- No wiring
- I love the swapable batteries; we have some Arlo cameras that don’t do that
- USB-C Charging on the cameras for added convenience
- Advertised as having better battery life
- After the free trial, reasonable subscription prices considering all the features you get
- Integrates seamlessly with my other Arlo devices; great for replacing older cameras
- It seems like notification are near instantaneous! Nice job
- Feeds have much less delay than in older cameras; maybe 3-4 seconds
- The app remains a strong point; it works well and ads lot of functionality
- Pretty good range; one camera is completely on the other side of the house
- These use the same mounts as my older Arlo Pros! I just unscrewed my old cameras and screwed these on… I got a huge upgrade in just 15 minutes!
Things I don’t love:
- The charging doc power cable should really be USB-C; there are no more reasons for proprietary power cables… That just complicates life
- The yard sign is VERY nice, but it’s quite hard to assemble the pieces together. It took some strong wiggling to get the three pieces flush with each other
- The charging doc is finicky… I noticed that when I unplugged the doc when a battery was charging, and then plugged it in again, the charger would not work. I had to leave the charger unplugged for a few minutes, and then tried to plug it in again, and then it would work again. I was able to reproduce this a few times… it’s weird
- Not a problem for me, but worth noting that these are different swapable batteries (size and grooves) than in my older Arlo Pro cameras (early version)
- These cameras are not compatible with the old pro magnetic mounts; these were great for indoor areas and for quickly moving cameras for different requirements
- The free tier significantly reduces the value proposition of buying these cameras
Overall, I love my Arlo Pro (6th Gen) cameras and my total Arlo system. Personally, I think it’s the most convenient and effective camera system on the market, **if** you are willing to pay for a subscription plan. If you don’t want to have a monthly payment, I would rate the effectiveness and value of this camera bundle at just 3 stars. If you are willing to pay for a subscription, these are hands down 5-Stars.

-Very strong signal strength thanks to dual-band Wi-Fi.
-Clear, bright, and detailed video feeds (2K HDR).
-160-degree field of view captures a lot of the scene.
-The app is well-organized and responsive.
-Motion detection notifications arrive quickly and timely.

-Good battery life.
-Compatible with SmartThings and Google Home plus more.
-Two-way audio is clear, and both the mic and speaker volumes are good.
____
*Neutral:
-Local storage is supposed but it’s slower to load and there are no thumbnail previews.
____
*Cons:
-The cost of the recurring monthly charges is too expensive.
-Most useful features are locked behind a subscription wall.
I began using Arlo security products with the Arlo Pro 2 from 2017 and added two more Arlo Pro 3 cameras when they were released in 2019. Now in 2025, I have added three Arlo Pro 3 6th gen cameras to my home, and I’m quite happy with the hardware and software advancements Arlo have made. These new 6th generation Pro 3 cameras exhibit improved HDR brightness, a more detailed image, and the most noticeable improvement I’ve experienced is the increased signal range. I have a Wi-Fi 7 network, and the Arlo Pro 3’s dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity has resulted in faster connection speed to a camera feed as well as much less latency when activating multiple camera feeds at the same time.
Although they share the same name, the Arlo Pro 3 6th-gen from 2025 is noticeably better than the Arlo Pro 3 from 2019 – the battery life is longer, the signal range is superior, and the clarify and color balance of its 2K HDR image looks better.
Hardware advancements are definitely nice and expected, but Arlo has also made meaningful software improvements via its Arlo Intelligence system. Although it’s not accurate 100% of the time, Arlo Intelligence offers several useful features such as person recognition (you can select pictures of different people from your gallery and give each a name), vehicle recognition (train the app to remember and recognize certain cars), and even create custom alerts where you train the Arlo AI system to look for specific events or objects (e.g., garage door is being opened, the sprinkler system turned on, birds are on the lawn).
Now if you were expecting these cool features to be included with the purchase price of the Arlo security system, then you’ll be solely disappointed as pretty much everything else beyond basic motion detection alerts, two-way audio, and live video feeds are locked behind relatively expensive subscription plans. What used to be $2.99/month for a single camera back in 2017 is now $7.99 in 2025. The Plus plan, which costs $17.99/month, is expensive but may be worth the cost if you own multiple Arlo cameras at your home and you need Cloud storage recordings for multiple areas of your home (e.g., front door, side entrance, backyard, backyard shed). Arlo does offer local storage of recordings but you have to provide your own backup medium such as a portable hard drive or USB flash drive. And unfortunately, accessing the locally saved video files via the Arlo app is slower and not as neatly organized as the saved recordings on the company’s Cloud server (Cloud-saved video feeds show a thumbnail preview but locally saved feeds are blank).
So, in spite of the higher cost of entry for the hardware and the relatively high cost of recurring subscription fees, why should anyone choose these Arlo security products over cheaper systems from competitors? You would choose to go with Arlo if you want hardware from an American company who probably protects and values your privacy and data more than competitors that originate from outside the USA, you want an app that is well-organized, responsive, and intuitive to use, and you could benefit from the new AI Cloud features such as person and vehicle recognition, custom audio event detection, and more detailed and informative motion detection alerts (“Trevor is at the front door” instead of “Person detected at front door”).
After all these words, what’s my final verdict for the 2025 Arlo Pro 3 (6th-gen)? In terms of hardware, I give it 5 out of 5. For the app and all the fancy motion detection and AI features, I give it 4 out of 5 (due to occasional misdetections and false alerts). In terms of value, it’s hard to answer with a single number. If you only own one or two Arlo cameras, then I’d say that the subscription prices being offered right now are bad value. But if you own four, five, or more Arlo cameras, then the $17.99/month Plus plan no longer feels like such a bad deal as the Plus plan covers an unlimited number of cameras and includes several useful features like person, animal, package, and vehicle detection as well as 60-days of video history. With that said, overall, I give this Arlo Pro 3 6th gen kit a 4-Star verdict.

Huge upgrade over my previous Arlo system

I've been a user of Arlo security systems for almost 10 years, I got my first system in 2015. I've added and replaced cameras and video doorbells over the years and generally things have worked well, although I did have some legacy issues when Netgear spun off Arlo in 2019 and the new app was launched. Some things just didn't work right and I had to struggle a bit to get my cameras/doorbell working properly with the new app.
Since my system was so old I decided its time to upgrade to the new equipment so I recently installed the Arlo Pro 3-Camera Wireless 2K Security Camera system (6th Generation) and I gotta say, what an improvement over my previous system!
For starters, setting up the new system could not have been any easier. The new cameras have a different mounting system than my old cameras so of course I had to replace the mounts but that wasn't a big deal at all and I could use some of the old holes I had already drilled. Then on to the cameras, first you must fully charge the camera batteries which brings me to one of the things I love about the new cameras. In the past, my old cameras required four CR123A batteries in each camera. I can't tell you how many times and how much money I spent over the years replacing those batteries. The 6th Gen cameras are powered by lithium-ion batteries, four of which are included in this package (yes 4 even though there's only 3 cameras, having a spare battery is a nice bonus). And the package includes a charging station to charge two of the batteries at a time. So I love no more buying/replacing CR123A batteries.
Once the batteries were fully charged setup was as simple as scanning the QR code in the instruction booklet and following the instructions to activate the cameras and update the firmware. This is all done through the Arlo app which I already had on my phone so yeah, it was a breeze. It worked flawlessly and the process was quickly completed.
Another big bonus I realized during setup was the elimination of a base station. My previous system required a base station which first had to be setup, physically wired to your wifi router and plugged into an electric receptacle, then you connect the cameras to that. The new 6th Gen system has no base station. The cameras connect directly to your wifi router. So not having a base station freed up a good portion of space on my desk along with all the wiring. My setup is now much cleaner, love that!
Operationally, the 2k HDR cameras are excellent. They have 160 degree field of view so with 3 cameras it easily covers our property. One of our cameras is mounted on our detached garage which is over 100 feet from our wifi router but it has no problem connecting to the router (setting up through the app showed the signal to be "stong"). The cameras provide clear images and video in both daytime and nighttime. In night mode, a light on the camera illuminates which turns the night images into color images, not just black and white like my old cameras. Another new feature that my old cameras didn't have is Auto Zoom & Tracking which I found works very well. When I was setting up and testing my cameras, a rabbit that lives under our front porch snuck out behind me and ran off into the woods. I had no idea he was there until I watched the videos and the camera zoomed in on that rabbit. Auto zoom and tracking works! We also had a bear crossing our front porch the other night and the camera zoomed right in on him and tracked him until he went out of view, pretty cool.
The app has many features to customize notifications and alerts as well as an emergency response system where you can enter your homeowner info including medical needs, then with one tap the local police, fire or medical help will be contacted.
Overall, I gotta say, Arlo has really come a long way. I had quite a few problems over the years with my previous system, but this system couldn't be better in my opinion. I've been using it now for about a week and it has been flawless. Its simple to setup, the cameras are fantastic, the app is easy to use and very customizable, and functionally it has worked perfectly. I highly recommend this system.

Fully Charged Security Camera Set

These Arlo Pro cameras respond quickly. They have a wide field of vision at a 2k resolution and the app has the majority of functions you would want in a security camera. Once fully installed and set up I have found them to provide good video quality with accurate motion alerts via my mobile notifications. I have them integrated with my Amazon Echo Show and Alexa so even the kids can see who is at the door without having to open it. Best of all Arlo included a battery charging station with a spare battery so you can easy swap out the battery when the charge gets low without losing the use of the camera for an extended period. Overall these cameras are a good choice for anyone wanting to protect their family and property.
Pros:
- Replaceable batteries so you don’t have to remove the camera to recharge it
- 2k resolution with up to 160 degrees field of view
- Easily integrates with Amazon Echo Show and Alexa
- Motion alerts with 12x zoom and tracking
- Spotlight, alarm and 2 way audio
- Night vision
- Two way audio
Cons:
- Most features require subscription which is expensive
- No local storage of video
Video Quality: I am using these cameras to replace some older existing outside HD cameras and there is definitely an improvement in video quality. The cameras have a 160 degree field of view and that wide field does add some curvature around the edges. You can lower the field of view but I didn’t think the curvature was bad enough to offset the extra field of view. These cameras are 2k which gives you detailed images at a consistent playback and alert speed. The 24 frames per second can look jumpy when capturing fast action but it’s still fast enough to follow/track movement without being overly blurry. The night vision is in color if you opt to use the spotlight function otherwise it is in black and white. The color in the night vision is not very pronounced unless there is additional light being supplied beyond the built in spotlight.
Setup: The first step is to download the Arlo app and it walks you through the installation and connectivity of the cameras. I have good wireless coverage so I didn’t run into any issues connecting the cameras in their outside locations. You definitely want to make sure you have wireless coverage prior to mounting the camera. The app offers lots of options but you can also use the default settings for a quick set up. The cameras use a swivel type mount which allows you to tilt and rotate the camera which is nice but it can be a pain to lock into position using the plastic wing nut. Luckily because the battery can be replaced without removing the camera this only needs to be done in the initial installation.

Peace-of-Mind Home Security

To be honest, I’ve always worried about leaving my home unguarded—even when I’m just popping out for groceries. So when the Arlo Pro 3-Camera Wireless 2K Security System showed up at my door, I was equal parts excited and skeptical. Could it really be the home-security game-changer it promises to be?
Unboxing: That First Wow Moment
There’s something kind of thrilling about ripping open a new gadget box, and Arlo doesn’t disappoint. Inside, you’ll find three sleek cameras, matching mounting arms, a pile of screws and anchors, plus four rechargeable battery packs. The whole setup looks and feels premium—none of that flimsy, “you’ll need to
replace this in six months” plastic. Everything is thoughtfully laid out, and you get the sense Arlo wants you up and running right away.
What These Cameras Actually Do
• Crystal-clear 2K video: I’ve never zoomed in on a security feed and been able to read a license plate so easily.
• Night vision that works: Pitch-black nights still give me crisp black-and-white footage—no spooky blurs.
• Rechargeable batteries with a dual charging station: Swap out dead packs in seconds and never worry about hunting down AAAs.
Battery Life That Finally Makes Sense
Arlo claims each battery can last “months,” and in my low-traffic corner of the neighborhood, that feels spot-on. I only needed to top up batteries every 8–10 weeks, which freed me from constant “Did I charge it?” anxiety.
Installation: Plug, Stick, Done
I’m not exactly Mr. Fix-It, but I had all three cameras mounted and streaming (via Wi-Fi) in under 15 minutes. The mounting arms are flexible enough to angle the camera exactly where you want it, and the instructions are straightforward—even my non-techy partner managed a couple of setups by herself.
The App: Your Security Sidekick
Downloading the Arlo app felt like unlocking a control room in my pocket. You can:
• Tweak motion-detection sensitivity (“Hey, passersby, please be ignored.”)
• Set recording schedules (“Only film between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.”)
• Get push notifications or email alerts the moment something’s up
Full disclosure: there are a ton of options, and a few of the fancier ones might overwhelm casual users. But if you’re the type who loves fine-tuning every gadget, you’ll eat this up.
Internet & Wireless Freedom
You do need a stable, decently fast internet connection for glitch-free live view and alerts. On my side, the wireless setup meant I could move a camera from porch to backyard in seconds—no rewiring required.
Price vs. Peace of Mind
Upfront, it isn’t the cheapest system you’ll find. But when you factor in the solid video quality, rechargeable batteries, easy installation, and a feature-packed app, it starts to feel like a smart investment in sleeping easier.
Pros and Cons
Pros
* Gorgeous 2K footage, day or night
* Batteries that really last
* Super-simple setup—no electrician needed
* Powerful, customizable mobile app
* Totally wireless flexibility
Cons
* Needs a reliable Wi-Fi connection
* Higher sticker price than basic stick-up cameras
* App’s many settings might intimidate casual users
Bottom Line
If you’re serious about home security (or you just hate that “what-if” feeling every time you lock the door), the Arlo Pro 3 system delivers. It’s stylish, powerful, and surprisingly easy to live with. In short: peace of mind has never looked—or felt—so good.

Great Cameras with added Security in Mind

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I wanted a security system with cameras for a property, as we’ve been having issues with fly dumping and needed to capture evidence. I wanted a system that worked more as a security system than just a camera system, with the option of having a paid service if I need it down the line without needing additional equipment. This way it could catch any other issues like fire or theft and alert me to them. I saw that Arlo had the new Pro Camera system, in a 3 pack with an additional battery which was perfect for what we wanted.
Pros:
- Simple to set up and install.
- Rechargeable Batteries.
- Optional Professional Monitoring Plans available.
Cons:
- App is not the easiest to navigate.
Setup:
To start, Arlo setup a QR code right on the inside of the box to scan or search for the Arlo Secure app in your app store. Then create a new account, following the step-by-step instructions to attach your device. The setup process went smoothly, including adding the other cameras after the initial account creation, with the app allowing you to save settings like WiFi Network details to help speed up adding additional devices. I had no issues setting up all the cameras.
Beyond the app, the wall mounts and hardware are all included. The setup is straightforward, if you’ve ever attached anything to the wall with a wall anchor. Just create an appropriately sized pilot hole for the anchor, tap the anchor in with a hammer, then screw in the wall mount with the screw. Simple, and worked with little effort.
Software:
My biggest complaint about the Arlo Cameras is the Arlo Secure App, it’s not very intuitive. The layout isn’t very intuitive as it’s setup as a security app first and camera monitoring 2nd. The default tab when opening the app is Dashboard that offers controls to set the system status to Arm Away, Arm Home, or Standby. At first this seems to be all that the Dashboard tab does, but if you go to the plus sign at the top and add a Widget, you can add each of your device feeds to this tab, making it an enhanced version of the device tab. I was a bit confused at first, because the camera I just setup didn’t display on the dashboard but after messing around I found that I could add it when selecting add a widget. I wish by default all cameras were added to the Dashboard tab, or a prompt offered some guidance on how to manage the Dashboard tab.
On the bottom of the app are tabs for Dashboard, Feed, Emergency, Devices, and Routines. Dashboard is a system status & summary tab that allows you to set the status of the system and customize views of your cameras. You can add additional device feeds as Widgets to this page. This is not very clear in the initial setup, which as I mentioned took me a while to figure out.
Feed displays timeline of the events along with a snapshot of any activities captured. These snapshots can be clicked to take you directly to the video for review. This part of the app is very useful, as its basically the Notifications you’ll receive. Emergency is where you can setup the Emergency Response settings, such that when an emergency occurs, you can quickly trigger a call to the proper services to get them to your location quickly. This can be a very convenient feature.
Devices is where all your devices, cameras usually, will display in a list feed. You can scroll down to enable live views of each and access additional settings. For indoor cameras, if you enable Standby mode, you will have to login each time you want to view or edit the camera settings as a privacy setting. Depending on the device, different settings will be available, but for most there are volume controls, recording (for 2-Way Audio), Video Recording, Photo, and Spotlight.
The last tab is Routines which help create automations based on the status of the overall system. This allows you to set different behaviors for each device when you arm the system in Away, Home, or Standby modes. Additionally, the smart Automations allow you to configure behaviors based on Schedules or Geolocation such that when you Leave or Arrive, the cameras behave differently. This is convenient feature really helps reduce the manual steps of arming or disarming the system.
Subscriptions:
Arlo offers an optional subscription plan that provides enhanced features like cloud storage, smart detection, or professional monitoring. As I mentioned initially, I might down the road need to get a security system anyway, so having these cameras to monitor plus be the security system checks off 2 needs with 1 device. The subscriptions have 3 plans: per camera for $9.99/mo, unlimited cameras for $19.99/mo, or Premium for $29.99 per month. All plans can also be purchased as Annual plans, which reduces the price by $2 to $5 per month depending on the plan.
If you want to completely avoid the subscription plan, you can also go the route of local storage with the Arlo SmartHub which will allow you to store your video data locally for longer periods of time. For now, I’m not going this route, but it is nice to have the options if I decide I need to retain the videos longer in the future.
Cameras:
The overall Camera quality is very good, each consist of an outer shell and inner camera that can be separated by pressing the button on the bottom, this is how you setup the camera and replace the battery. Additionally, there is a covered USB-C port for charging or wired power. On the back of the shell is the wall mount attachment.
The camera has a resolution of 2K with a large 160-degree field of view, this is perfect for capturing an entrance or back gate. The camera captures recordings in 24 fps. The captured images and audio are very clear, I had no issues seeing or hearing what was happening in the back alley. In fact, I was able to capture a few audio clips of someone realizing there was a camera, with hilarious dialogue.
Even in tough conditions like low light or bad weather, I found the Arlo Pro 6th cameras were able to clearly see and record what was going on. The night vision has a 25ft distance, but if you’re in a well-lit area that distance can be a lot more. I was easily able to capture video at night down the alley way, at least 50ft if not more, and with the 2K resolution I could zoom in to see further. The built in Spotlights were helpful for seeing color at night and surprising unexpecting people who shouldn’t be there.
Connectivity:
I found that the cameras all maintained a solid wireless connection, though this will heavily rely on your wireless network more than the cameras. I had no issues streaming the cameras video to my phone when on or off the same network. There was some obvious latency, but only 2-3 seconds which was most noticeable when in the same room as the camera or when using the 2-way audio.
The only issue I encountered was that every so often, the cameras would have an issue with connecting the 2-way audio, such that it wouldn’t send audio from my phone to the camera. This wasn’t really an issue for me, as I just wanted to be able to record and view, but I think there’s something not working on my phone with the Pro 6th.
Battery Life:
It will be a while before I can confirm the 8 months of battery life per charge that is stated by Arlo, but so far, I’ve had the cameras going for about a week with only 3% to 4% battery consumed. The camera with more activity has consistently been lower. Your result will vary based on your situation and camera setup.
For now, if I only need to charge the cameras 2 times per year, that would be great. I’m considering picking up the Solar Panel Charger, as that would eliminate needing to charge them at all plus does not require running a cable to the camera from a plug. For only ~$50 per solar panel, that’s a reasonable price to not have to swap out the batteries.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a secure way to monitor your home or business, with the option to have professional monitoring such as theft or fire, the Arlo Pro 3 Cam Wireless 2K Security Cameras are a great option. They work with other Arlo system products, which helps create a custom solution for your needs. Additionally, whether you use the subscription or want a local storage solution with the SmartHub, there are options within the Arlo Products to meet your specific needs. The smart automation helps make setting your systems status a breeze, so you don’t have to adjust every time you leave or arrive. Overall, I’m very happy with the Arlo system, and will be adding more cameras to my setup over the next few months.

Disappointing Battery Life

The Arlo Pro 3-Cam 2k HDR Security Camera set is a very capable system loaded with tons of features and phenomenal video quality. Unfortunately, it falls short on battery life. I have been using plug-in security cameras for the last 8 years and I regret switching my system over to the Arlo Pro because the battery life is nowhere near what I thought it would be.
PROs:
1) Install - Installation took around 5 minutes for each camera and I had everything setup and ready to go in less than 30 minutes. Arlo has made the setup experience virtually painless.
2) Video Quality - The Pro's 2k HDR resolution is crisp and shows any detail you could possibly need.
3) App / Features - What drew me to the Arlo ecosystem was their suite of features and range of customization I was missing from my old system. On the app, you are able to create custom event triggers like pushing notifications if you leave your garage open or it can recognize different people thanks to their AI integrations. The app has every feature you could possibly want.
4) Swappable Batteries - The Arlo Pro's have removable batteries that allow you to swap them in seconds by ejecting the camera from the housing. The kit comes with a charging doc and 4th battery that you can keep on standby so you experience minimal downtime.
CONs:
1) Battery Life - Battery life is terrible for my use case. My household is very active and we see around 100 events triggered every day - this is fueled by kids coming and going with their friends. Within 2 days, one of my cameras showed 80% charge remaining. After 15 days, one camera is at 25% and the other that isn't triggered as much is at 44%. This is unacceptable. I understand we might trigger events more than the average user, but these results are even after I changed the video quality settings to be as low as possible - which defeats the purpose of investing in a "Pro" camera system. My cameras are mounted out of reach which means I have to pull out a ladder every time I need to change the battery. If you think I'm going to pull out my ladder every 2 weeks, think again. I decided to grab a solar panel thinking this would solve my issue - wrong. The battery on these cameras charge so slow that the solar can't out-pace the energy it's using.
2) Light - The spotlight on this camera is so small that it's almost pointless. I know Arlo is limited because of the battery, but lights a no brighter than the flashlight on your cell phone.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I you don't have an active house like I do, I don't doubt you'd be able to get several months out of one battery. If you think you will have high event triggers, I would avoid this system. The only other scenario where I would recommend these cameras is if you mount them where you can reach them without needing a ladder.

Tons of Features To Protect Your Home

Regardless of if you’re worried about the future, living in a high crime part of town, or just want to be able to keep an eye on the kids from your phone while you’re at work this Arlo Security camera package should be able to fit your needs. Inside the box you get everything you need to get setup quickly other than a screw driver (or drill for pilot holes, which I highly recommend). This package arrived with three HD security cameras, four batteries, a two battery charger, hardware including wall anchors, camera mounts, a “Protected by Arlo” sticker for the window, and a metal sign to stick in your yard (do these even deter anyone?) which was a nice bonus but I don’t believe is necessary.
The batteries are mostly charged but the setup, which is done through the Arlo app on your phone, recommends charging the batteries completely before installing and setting up. I found the charging process was about two hours give or take and I was ready to assemble everything. The app is pretty easy to follow, consisting mostly of entering wifi password, adjusting the camera, and how to install the batteries. Your phone will be how you view the live feed, saved recordings, adjust your detection zones, etc. It's mostly obvious what you’re doing although it took me a minute to realize the microphone turns on by default to talk through the camera and I imagine there’s ways to fine tune your detection zones and sensitivity to avoid false positives like the kids playing back and forth between two cameras.
Picture clarity of the cameras is pretty top notch! You can clearly see everything even on the smaller phone screen which surprised me, I’ve seen some pretty grainy or washed out security videos in the past. The audio is really clear, both the speaker on the camera that allows you to talk to the other end as well as the audio its picking up. Each camera has a spotlight which is pretty bright but you can tone down the brightness in the app.
In fact there’s a lot about the app which you can play with and experiment with to get the perfect setup for your home/business schedule. For instance, other than being able to make immediate adjustments like the microphone sensitivity, the brightness, and the detection zones you can also setup automated schedules with rules. For instance, you can let the app know that you leave for work at 8:15am Monday through Friday and are home from 5:00pm until bed at 11:36pm so that it will arm and disarm the system for you while you’re home to avoid false positives. Or you can control the mode manually at will. You can setup an emergency response for if you were to have an invader try to break into your home while you’re gone, you can set it to call a friend if you needed to have someone pickup a package after delivery…honestly there’s a lot of functionality in the app that its likely I’m not even using it to the fullest potential. I only have the basic free version but you can also subscribe to Arlo to get monitoring from their agents, save videos and screenshots to the cloud, and other bells/whistles to protect your home even better than with your own routines, schedules, and setup.
Batteries are supposed to last 3 months before needing to be replaced but the battery levels I’m seeing are about 5-10 percent daily which is nowhere close to Arlo’s estimate. I also really got annoyed at the CONSTANT notifications I was getting on my phone every time a squirrel, mailman, passerby, or child came and went through the camera’s field of view. I could blame myself for being too sensitive and not setting up the camera the most efficient way possible and I’m sure with time I’ll be able to dial it in but buyer beware the first few days are going to drive you nuts!
Not my most thorough review I’ve ever done because honestly there’s a lot of features and there was simply no way to go through everything and get good at it. I think this would be a good setup for at least a starter system but it seems to have enough going on that I could see myself using this for the foreseeable future. I’m actually thinking about getting another camera to get more coverage of the back and side yards and I know Arlo has indoor products as well. Give it a look, read other reviews, but I don’t see how you could go wrong with Arlo.

The Arlo Pro 3-Camera (6th Gen) set is an excellent wireless security system. The 2K HDR video is crystal clear, the 160° field of view covers plenty of space, and the night vision with spotlight works beautifully. Setup was quick, and the dual charging station makes battery swaps super convenient. I love that it connects easily with Alexa and Google, and the app is smooth for checking footage anytime. Overall, a reliable, high-quality camera system that gives real peace of mind!

I have been using this Arlo 2K Pro 6th Gen in an unorthodox way.
Let's start with setup. 2 ways to charge this either with USB c directly into the camera or using the charger made for the batteries themselves. Good to have both options. It took about 4 hours to charge from about 40% with the battery with chargers. Charger can charge up to 2 batteries at a time.
Quick change battery function on the camera is great feature.
Setup via mounting is easy. Follow directions and you are mounted.
Overall appearance is nice. Sleek Arlo white and black.
App setup was super easy too. Follow the on screen directions and you are all in. I already had an Arlo account so I did not have to go through that.
Ok so my unorthodox use of the camera is I have a rodent problem. Namely rats and mice. My wonderful neighbor decides to feed the birds and leaves their bird feeder out and the rats decide to pass through my yard to get to their yard and there you have it.
I have already taken care of several of them but there is 1 that is really smart and I wanted to know where and how they were entering my backyard. So I placed these cameras around my yard and found the points of entry and exits. Anyway that is. Work in progress.
But the Arlo did detect animal versus human pretty well.
Also day and night quality is good.
Focal point is pretty good too.
Overall Arlo had done a good job with this next generation camera.
