Cameras work great. This is the second set up that I’ve bought. I don’t like that. They continuously change the charging ports from generation to generation.

**OVERALL**
The Arlo Pro 6th gen camera system is a compact, wireless outdoor, user-friendly security system offering high-quality video that's quick and easy to set up at an affordable cost.
That being said, I'm typically not a fan of these systems, but for the purpose of this review, we'll scrap all that for an unbiased look at these. For those unaware, these systems are cloud first subscription service with limited functionality without a subscription. These units offer no local functionality other than a live view. On the surface, these units have a good build quality and a versatile, sturdy mounting system. One of the key benefits of the Arlo system is the scalability, allowing you to add multiple cameras to monitor multiple properties/locations with minimum effort. It's worth noting that each location requires a plan. However, it isn't clear if adding a camera to the same "Home" location using a different SSID to place at a different location would prompt a forced plan purchase, it could possibly violate TOS. The system offers unlimited cloud storage through a subscription which can cover a single or unlimited devices. A single device plan runs 9.99/mo and for unlimited devices, there's 2, plus and premium for 19.99/mo and 29.99/mo. The difference between them being that one includes more home benefits such as insurance discounts and professional monitoring.
The included, rechargeable battery pack, has a great battery life using default values.
Something to note, while the premium plan is rather steep when compared to other cloud systems, it's my belief they do this as it's an undisclosed full property security system, there's just more legal red tape to make that claim. That's because the camera's can function as a fire detector listening for the screeching of your homes carbon monoxide sensors. Loud noises such as gunshots or windows breaking, and doors being opened. If any of these trigger an alert, the system can alert you or family members. Manual activation of emergency services is required if you are in need of that. Lastly, I don't appreciate the fact that these units automatically start a trial for you when you register the camera. I would have preferred to have no plan to contrast against what having a plan is like. Not having to wait 30 days for the trial to end to compare or using the chart showing what's included in the trial to make an assumption on the perks I get with a plan. It's just much easier to compare when you can use each option.
**Pros:**
* Quick and easy setup
* Scalable system for monitoring everything
* Convenient cloud storage solution through Arlo subscription
* long battery life
* low-key full property security system
**Cons:**
* can be expensive when compared to other subscription based cameras
* Limited functionality without subscription
* Trial starts automatically
**FEATURES**
To access most of the features of the Arlo Pro 6th gen system, you'll need to purchase a subscription plan. The Plus subscription plan costs $19.99/mo for unlimited devices or $29.99/mo for unlimited devices and a few extra features. At $9.99/mo you get basic and a 1 device plan. With a sub, the cameras offer motion detection, person detection, vehicle detection, package detection, and fire detection. It becomes very granular even allowing for a person's detection such as a family member. It does prompt that you should get consent from the individual and that certain laws could apply based on your region.
Without a sub, I assume, you only get motion detection notifications with no extra details or recordings.
Motion detection triggers various events with plenty of information to discern details about what might be going on. From messages such as "person walking with phone", "person with package", "person nearing door", and "person opens door". If a person can handle/hold it, I'm sure the descriptor will add it into the alert message. Night vision is superb, it can illuminate my yard with the longest section being roughly 20', which makes very clear that a shadow would be lurking in the dark.
Overall, the Arlo security system is easy to use and convenient, making it a great option for those looking for a simple and effective home security solution. Motion detection is superb giving you very detailed actions triggering an alert. Possibly one of the best I've seen so far. However, be aware that without an active sub your camera system would be practically useless. Additionally, this seems to be on the pricier side when compared to similar systems.
This is worth 4-stars.

Hello Timmy,
Thank you for your review. Alternatively, Arlo cameras can use local storage. Arlo offers the option to store video recordings locally through the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station (sold separately). For more details on local storage, see this article: https://kb.arlo.com/000062818. For the benefits of adding an Arlo Smart Hub, refer to this article: https://kb.arlo.com/000062754.
