I purchased this security system for my home after I let my last one go when I sold my home. In the past I have used wired systems which are a pain to set up physically, and even more difficult to go live on line. The system I used before required a third-party app for mobile viewing which was difficult to sync up and often updates were slow to follow os changes. This one is simple to install, and just as simple to set up on my phone. The one drawback is not having a built-in hard drive/DVR.

Granted, I did buy a refurbished unit. But, all problems should have been fixed. One of the cameras wouldn't sync. The support guy in India wanted my credit card to ship another; not happening. I went to Best Buy and they were incredibly helpful. As far as the actual operation, it doesn't have very good night vision like I was lead to believe. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

    Netgear Arlo Camera

I have researched wired and wireless security cameras for the last year. Until I found the Wireless Netgear Arlo and it had all the features I wanted. It was very easy set up. Deciding the placement of the cameras was probably the most difficult. Then adjusting the position of the camera itself. The places I wanted to put the cameras did not have power outlets nearby, so the wireless was my best solution. I positioned all of our cameras inside the house, but they are weather proof and can be outdoors.

Great idea poor software! Pros: Completely wireless Easy Setup Cons: Too many limitations 1. Battery Replacement (if using the defaults will last 4-6 months, which is ok but you only get 10 seconds of recording once motion is triggered) 2. Cost of batteries 3. Buggy software, sometimes difficult to connect to and is very slow 4. Hub uses wifi n technology to connect cameras instead of the much faster AC 5. Warranty is only 1 year for such an expensive product! 6. Support for updates is slow!!! 7. No local recording, which means you have allow Netgear (Arlo manufacturer) access to your network and store your video in the cloud, which means privacy can be an issue! 8. Can be easily stolen! There is nothing to prevent someone from stealing the device. 9. Only 5 cameras allow per free cloud account then you have to pay. 10. Only 7 days worth of recording allowed per free account or you have to pay! too many limitations!!!!!!
