Don’t waste your money

Setup was fairly easy the only snag being my ISP’s activation system but a quick phone call to Xfinty took care of that. I downloaded the Arris Surfboard app which I noticed that to use any of the “advanced” features the app opens up your browser and the webpage is not configured for mobile. While most people wouldn’t ever look at this page (even though they should), it was a nightmare to navigate I had to do so much pinch and zooming to setup port forwarding and static IP addresses that ended up downloading the app on my iPad. I have a 2300 square ft ranch and I mounted it in the middle of my house about 7 ft high. Using the Arris app’s own WiFi I noticed that I had little to no coverage in the corners of my house. Also after about a week of use I noticed that my internet would drop out about 3-5 times a day (especially if I was playing main healer in a dungeon). Not only that it was abysmally slow to cycle if I unplugged it would take about 5-7 minutes versus the 10-15 to cycle on its own. I hadn’t returned my ISP’s router/modem so I plugged it back up and had no issues with my internet dropping. Subsequently I ended up returning this.

Would’ve given higher stars if the app would work smoother. Had to restart router several times would loose internet for no reason. After the last reset seems to be working properly. Hopefully it will continue. Added an extender for more coverage also.

It happens, I didn't need a modem. I sent it back still in the original package. I needed a router! Wireless, WiFi router, not a modem. I would not have been able to use the modem anyway because it doesn't have a telephone connection.

Awesome if you have cable internet

This is my second ARRIS router, they are very dependable and compatible with Xfinity (Comcast). Be sure to read the box first to make sure you are getting the right one.
