This is the best decision I’ve made. This modem
Is so much faster and more powerful than the one provided by your internet provider. Better own than renting.

Excellent Wireless Modem for Comcast

I finally got around to buying my own equipment for use with my Comcast service and I am only mad that I waited so long. Setting this up was easy and I am consistently getting close to the speeds I pay for. It has enough room on the board to hard wire all of my consoles and since it's dual band, my other wireless devices can take advantage of the stronger frequency from most places in my house. When we eventually decide to get phone again, I won't need to get new equipment (otherwise, I might have gone with a cheaper option).
For the setup, you don't have to call Comcast even though the manual tells you to do so (a relief for most I imagine). Just go to the Xfinity website, search for "approved equipment" and you should locate the guide. It may take a little bit of time for the device to start talking to Comcast, but be patient and follow the directions. This is one of their approved modems, so the activation process was super smooth. Note that no matter how awesome this device is, it can't guarantee you your 200 Mbps download speed once everyone in your neighborhood gets home and jumps on their internet. You will still see those slow times sometimes, but that is on Comcast. Great product.

Works great but not for Business Customers

I got this Modem and I tried it at home and it works great but when I took it to my office since I have a Business Account, I tried installing it and it wouldn't work so I called Xfinity and they told me that it does not work for Business Accounts. So keep in mind that it works great but not for Business.
It comes with instructions, ethernet cable, power cable.
Comes well packaged and looks great

The Arris modem is easy to set up and use. This telephony modem works well with Comcast. It has four ports that you can use to expand your network. It has 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequencies. We have 2 televisions, 2 phones, 4 tablets, and 4 MP3 players connected to our network and do not have any issues.
We have a signal throughout our house and in our front and back yards.
Overall, this is a good reliable modem and we have not had any issues with it.

I purchased this unit to avoid Comcast's rental fees on their supplied modem. Initial set up was easy with Comcast. I am an unusual user in that I use this modem as a bridge device to my internal network and not as a wireless hot spot or router. When I was setting the unit up as a bridge I needed to confirm some operational details with the unit and quickly was passed from one level of tech support to another as the lower levels were not familiar with what I wanted to do with the unit. Eventually I figured it out myself. The tech support in India was no help and resulted in frequent disconnects and language and culture barriers. They even once transferred me to Netgear's tech support! I am getting speeds of over 250mbps/sec with this unit which is amazing for someone who thought T1 speeds were great. I recommend the unit as being solid and reliable so far, but the tech support for anything out of the ordinary is abysmal.

The modem Comcast was renting out is a simple N600 for $10 a month but you were stuck with that if you had phone service until now. This product looks identical to the one you rent except it is white and the rental is black, don't let the form fool you, this modem is so much faster. I speed tested and regularly get 230mbps wireless! I was streaming a 4k video on my tv and hd video on my phone at the same time with no lag. I highly recommend this as a replacement/upgrade from the one Comcast currently offers for $10/month. Hopefully this will become their new standard and will replace their current N600 model but why wait? Get this one now if you want to have fast streaming video and it is super easy to set up. One recommendation is to visit the Comcast site prior to disconnecting your old modem and review the instructions for setting up the new one, print or copy so you know what to do. This will save you from the painstaking process of calling in.

I picked this up as a gift, so my dad could order internet from xfinity. This modem/router combo was more than enough to handle the 300m service he wanted. It's not the latest & greatest, but seems to stay up most of the time, and the Wi-Fi seems to reach all area's within the house & backyard. Logs show it reboots from time to time, by he has never noticed it down. So that might be the result of inactivity.

Fast, reliable, and easy to set up; definitely worth the price, especially when you consider the money you'll save once you cut that $10-$12 rental fee with your cable/ISP provider.
You might run into some resistance with your ISP when setting it up, but don't worry about it; this device is plenty fast and will last a good, long while before Internet speeds catch up to the speed this modem can accommodate.
Pair it with a nice wireless router, and you'll have fantastic Internet all around. :)

Incredible Router and Modem!

This ARRIS combo modem and router is really a great buy. I decided to ditch my rental modem from Xfinity and purchase this. Even though it will take two years to recoup the cost, I don't care because the features and control over this modem far exceed the Xfinity modem. For instance, with this device, you can hide the SSID from your neighbors and from spying eyes, something you cannot do with the Xfinity modem. Also, it is very easy to see all your connected devices and determine which frequency band to which they are connected (2.4 GHZ or 5 GHz). This was helpful with a recent purchase of a tablet that only sporadically connected to the 5 GHZ band, resulting in a return of the tablet. It is easier to change passwords with the ARRIS modem, if necessary. Initial install is very easy. I did have to call Xfinity to assist in the process. Please note that it is not possible to see your WIFI network name or password on Xfinity's website once the ARRIS device is running. You need to go into the ARRIS control panel and make changes there. I have used customer support at ARRIS, and they are very helpful and easy to work with. I highly recommend this product. Even though it is a bit expensive, it is really worth the money. Connections are always lightning fast. If you are considering replacing your Xfinity modem, don't give it a second thought!

Save That Rental Fee!

I finally bit the bullet and purchased this so I could get rid of my rental gateway from Xfinity. I double-checked that Comcast allows this modem before purchasing. This model is similar, but newer and faster, than the rental gateway I was paying $11/month to rent.
I did have some installation issues, but that was Comcast’s fault. Unlike some other reviewers here, I wasn’t able to activate without calling Comcast, so that was a pain. The rep removed my rental modem from my account before ensuring this one could be activated without issue. When he couldn’t activate it, he insisted that I must have a wiring issue and would have to schedule an appointment with a service tech at a cost of $60. Needless to say, I was frustrated. Especially since my internet service was working fine until he removed my rental modem. And because he removed it, he couldn’t reinstate it, so I had no internet service until my service appointment. Thank God for the reliable cell service through Verizon! The next day, I called back and worked with a rep who did not rest until he got me up and running, so I was able to avoid the tech appointment and additional fee.
Once I was up and running, I’ve had great experience with this product. My internet service is fast and seamless. Just beware of dealing with Comcast to set you up. But once you’re activated, you’ll enjoy the gateway. And saving that rental fee will allow this to pay for itself in less than 2 years. I just wish I had done this sooner!

Great replacement combination modem/router with phone from the monthly rental fee paid to Xfinity for years. The price was cheaper than paying for another year of Xfinity’s rental fee. Easy set up and connection as far as my part. But as usual Xfinity took 2 1/2 days to connect our phone service. Best Buy employee showed me which one was needed to convert over to service with a landline.

I bought this product to replace the Xfinity modem and router as to save monthly rental fee. The unit equips with voice that required to connect a land phone ( works for Xfinity Triple- Play plan). The installation was easy but I need to contact Xfinity for activation. Even though it’s not of the latest technology, but it works fine and meets my expectations in term of Wi-Fi use, and download speed.,

This unit is basically an identical copy hardware wise of the modem that Comcast gives out with their internet/telephony service. The plus side is that you own it and at the $11 a month that Comcast charges for the rental of their equipment, buying this will pay for itself in about 20 months of your 24 month commitment. It even comes with a 24 month warranty from Arris in case it commits seppuku before your contract is up.
Also on the plus side is that this unit does NOT automatically create an XfinityWiFI access point in your modem, thus Comcast is unable to use your hardware and power to create a neighborhood network that they use to sell service to customers. Yes, that's exactly what they're doing with it with their hardware.
The downside is that, like the Comcast router, the included management firmware is woefully and embarrassingly limited. It works for most people, but the firewall is limited to a few choices only. There is no ability to create a guest network, so be prepared to give out your private one to visitors.
Also, be aware that Comcast does NOT provide app support for this device, so if you're hoping to do all the kewl stuff on their commercials with this router, like pausing the internet or managing it from their web pages, you're out of luck.
Otherwise, it works just like their stuff. It has good/the same signal strength that the Xfinity device had and it has no problems keeping up with our 400Mbps service. Upgrading from 10Mpbs DSL to 400Mbps cable seriously rules.

Bought this item a few months back. Had no issues with transfering this over to replace the subpar comcast equipment . Increased download and up up load speeds. Item has a fresh look and is more eys appealing. In time equipment pays for itself, rather than monthly comcast equipment fees. On any given day 5 phones and two TVs are pulling wifi, I never notice any lag.

I have Xfinity internet and I was not seeing the MBPS that I wanted to with the Arris that I had purchased 5 years prior. I was only getting 10-40MBPS. Xfinity determinded that it was modem causing the problem. I upgraded to this Arris Modem and was very pleased. Set-up was easy. It was a plug and play device. This modem instantly boosted my download speed to 230 MBPS. I am also able to get signal in places on my property that I had not been able to before. Overall I would recommend this modem for a mid-level cost modem. There is a new more expensive Modems made by Arris but this one was perfect for your average family streaming on multiple devices.
