Customers are saying

Customers highly value the SURFboard AC2350's ease of use, performance, and quick setup. Many appreciate its strong WiFi signal and wide range, finding it provides reliable internet access throughout their homes. While some mention the router's larger size, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs this concern. The affordable price point is also frequently cited as a significant advantage.

Besides the review comments the ARRIS SBG7400 was recommended by the Best Buy Sales Person. So far so good. No complaints and cannot pick out any shortcomings with the ARRIS.

This router works really well with my Comcast service. The speeds pass through well. The only downside is the wifi range isn't as good as the AT&T gateway I had. Big dropoff in wireless signal upstairs.

Got good advice from sales associate and after further review chose this for our new xfinity set up. It was a breeze to set up, synced with our new set up in a very short time.

I had previously purchased a different brand but it got pretty warm. This one doesn’t get too warm and has worked great. Better than having to rent one from xfinity!

The router provides the maximum wifi speed provided by our carrier....Much faster than the one we replaced. It was not as easy to hook up as others using the app. While the router works we were locked out of the settings and can not make any changes

This router comes with McAfee. It identifies all the devices and allows you to install Anti Virus on the devices. I like the Parental Controls feature. I no longer have a lag on streaming shows to my TV upstairs.

There's not a tremendous amount to talk about. My bandwidth for my Internet at home where this is used is only 200Mbit so I cannot vouch for if the modem is in fact truly 1Gbps capable. Setup was very easy. Called my ISP (Su******nk), they had it provisioned and working within a few minutes. Wi-Fi setup was simple and quick. Wi-Fi speeds will of course vary, but I have no problems hitting my provided speeds. Range is quite good. My only issue with this is that there is not external antenna. This is a bit of a drawback so if you're in a larger home, say more than 2200 sq-ft, you're going to want to look at an extender or repeater if it's on one side and you're on the other. 2.4Ghz was strong throughout our 1500 sq-ft home. 5ghz however was hovering around 4-5 depending on the device and distance. My Roku Ultra that is in our living room was only seeing 3 or 4 bars out of 5 and it's only about 10-15 away with little interference and obstruction. Speeds were unaffected for the most part though. I like the look of it. It's fairly tall, about 10-12 inches and around 8-10 inches deep. Thankfully the desk it's on has plenty of room. This has taken the place of my old Surfboard modem and TP-Link router for the time being as it takes up less than half the space of both. If you're looking for a good Gateway that will supports speed up to 1Gbps and has fast Wi-Fi then this will fit the bill. If you're needing something faster or more future proof, you'll need a modem that is DOCSIS 3.1 Compatible and has more than 24x8 channel's. Outside of the lack of external antenna's there's not really anything to not like about this Gateway.

Since installing this new modem/router we haven’t had to reset our internet once. Prior to this we had to turn it off and on a couple of times per week. It was frustrating. We are glad this works well.

Pays for Itself with No Modem/Router Rental Fees

Many of us pay a monthly rental charge of $5 or more for our cable modem/routers without even being aware of it. If you are renting your modem, the sooner you purchase your own modem/router of any brand, the sooner you can begin to break even. Different cable companies use different proprietary software and communication protocols so you need to check that any potential purchased modem is compatible with your cable companies equipment. Most cable companies publish a list of acceptable modems on their website. This particular model of Arris SURFboard cable modem is mainly suited to Spectrum Cable, but Arris makes other models with the exact same features, but slightly different innards or software to suit every North American cable company. The ARRIS SURFboard SBG7400AC2 Cable Modem/Wi-Fi Router has a fast processor and relatively powerful Wi-Fi transmitter, so chances are it will give greater Wi-Fi coverage and higher LAN speeds than your standard cable company rental equipment particularly if your had it for a few years. When I removed my Spectrum provided modem and replaced it with this Arris SURFBoard, my average speeds increased slightly, but otherwise everything worked the same and the change was unnoticeable. FEATURES: - DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications) 3.0 speeds - 4 Ethernet ports - 2 year warranty - Front mounted USB port for charging devices like cell phones or laptops. PROS: - DOCSIS 3.0 can provide Fiber-like speeds from cable companies using older copper coaxial wire networks to the home. - Comes with a downloadable but optional Arris Secure Home Internet App (by McAfee) for extra internet security. CONS: - The Arris SURFBoard is slightly taller (9”) than some modems and should not be laid down horizontally because of the location of its ventilation holes. This could be a problem in tight spaces. CONCLUSION: - The ARRIS SURFboard SBG7400AC2 Cable Modem/Wi-Fi Router can save money over the long run and is at the high end of performance.
