Many appreciate the straightforward setup and the value for the price. While some users experienced compatibility issues with certain internet service providers, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns.

Solid product, weaker signal than I'm use to

I decided to try this modem/router combo since my current cable modem is about 4-5 yrs old and I wanted a backup incase something happened to it. The product is about 2.5 times larger than the Surfboard modem it replaced, which is to be expected since it's also a router, but it's overall footprint on my desk is less noticeable since the old router is gone as well. Also, I wasn't attempting to replace an ISP provided modem/router, so I'm not sure how that would have affected my review. I have Comcast/Xfinity for my internet, and unfortunately that was the sole reason I had trouble installing/activating the product. Once I had the product set up, I called Comcast support and attempted to have them provision the product. When that process failed after 2-3 attempts, the person on the other end of the phone said the modem was defective and that a tech needed to be sent to my house. The first tech appointment had to be rescheduled, and the next appointment was 3 days later. When the tech finally arrived, the modem was working within 15 mins. The problem: the initial CSR had switched the mac and cmac ids, and no matter how hard I emphasized that possibility, she had refused to listen. After the initial fiasco, installation of the app and configuration of the product went smoothly. I haven't installed the McAfee app yet because I use another suite of tool for internet security. The Arris app allows you to control a small subset of the product's settings, but in order to obtain full control, you'll have to access it via the web interface. That interface gives you full control of the product; you can control WAN/LAN settings, enable guest networks, control access using MAC address, setup a firewall (including parental controls), setup USB devices for file sharing and media playback, etc. One setting I was hoping to find was for the dimming of the status LEDs on the front of the product; the LEDs are quite bright, but you can only turn them off, there is no dimming. There's also a control section to add extenders to your network, although I believe they might have to be be Arris/Surfboard extenders. This last section might actually be heavily used since the biggest problem I've had is poor signal quality. The laptop I use most often doesn't have much trouble with the signal, but my phone, which never had any trouble around the outside of my house with my old setup, now has problems maintaining a connection, which causes the phone to switch from the router to cell service, and then back again. So if I'm streaming audio, it's constantly interrupted. Overall, the modem/router combo is a good product. I wound up reconnecting my old router to avoid the dead zones I was experiencing outside of my house, but other than that, it's a solid product so far.

It was easy to follow the setup instructions for my ARRIS SBG7600AC2 WiFi cable modem. Connect the coax cable, then PC network cable to the yellow moden jack and plug in the power pack, that simple. Next I went to my IP's activation screen, entered my sign-in name and password, and waited a few minutes for them to authorize my new equipment. I like being able to control the front console LEDS (ON or OFF). The SSID names for the 2.4 and 5 ghz radios were also quickly setup to my home's names and everything worked as usual. Only needed to restart my wink hub, hue hub, and electric meter hub to get them to re-recognize the WiFi network. The unit looks sharp, nother super fancy. Afterall, it works and is usually out of site. The network speed test showed expected results. The benefit will be when you are streaming and anther user is gaming and someone else is browsing the web. The moden has multiple internal channels to take care of the traffic.A solid Motorola product!

Fast internet speed. Built in wi-fi works like a dream. User friendly start-up. All great qualities that helped make the switch easy from renting the wi-fi modem that Xfinity rents to their customers to having my own in-home set-up! If you’re small apartment living I highly recommend this small but very effective bit of equipment to overkill it!

Still Works Great, Even if It’s Getting “Obsolete”

Arris is, in my opinion, an excellent brand that makes reliable devices. I’ve used their modems for many years without issues. I have Cox service, and they recently told me this particular modem (DOCSIS 3.0) is becoming obsolete and that I’d need a newer one with the latest DOCSIS 4.0 for the best performance. That said, as of November 2025, this modem still performs great. It handles four Wi-Fi phones, one computer, and three TVs with ease. Even when guests connect their devices, everything continues to run smoothly at normal speeds. Once I need to upgrade, my next modem will definitely be another ARRIS

It has everything but the phone connectivity function which I don’t think many people use today. I make sure to use the 5 GHz option to get the full speed promise by the ISP. I like how the device looks, stable blue colors look futuristic :) I better choice than renting a device from the provider will pay off in a year, considering the $15/mo expense. Four ethernet outlets are also very useful. Other Arris devices looked cheap imo, but if you want to save a little can opt for lower grade options. Arris app is useful for password change!

I really like the simplicity of setting up the ARRIS SURFboard. The application has been developed by ARRIS for IOS and perhaps Android. It was snap to set up. The wifi seems strong. I have a Google mesh system as well. I just checked the up and download speeds of each: Google Mesh: Download, 32.9 upload 11.7 mps ARRIS: Download 274.9, upload 11.8

Both 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands of the wifi cover an entire ~1000sqft apartment when this device is centrally located in the apartment. Speed tests on the 5GHz wifi have consistently shown I'm getting the internet speed I'm paying for, and it's been reliable so far - no signal drops or need for any reset.

I'm very happy with this modem/router so far. Setup was quite easy, with the only challenge coming from Spectrum. When I attempted to activate the modem through Spectrum's website, even though Spectrum's name is on the box and the modem appears on their 'latest' list, I received a message that the modem wasn't compatible with their network. A call to their activation line and conversations with two techs got the situation resolved. The WiFi signal has been fine. My house is two stories and over 3,000 sf, and the signal is fine throughout.

Finally decided to buy a modem instead of renting one from the internet provider. This ARRIS works so much better than the modem I was paying to rent. Haven't had any problem since hooking up up. Works perfectly in an average size house. I would highly recommend it.

Excellent range, speed, and compatibility with Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable). I know that this is not advertised as a gaming router or anything, but the 5GHz band is excellent for low latency. Even though my laptop is a couple of rooms over, I still get amazing speeds and low ping fit for all of my browsing, video watching, and gaming needs. I have a total of about 10 devices connected simultaniously across both bands with no issues.

Rock Solid Modem & Router that Manages the Load

I purchased this combo modem router for my beach house in Ocean City to replace a modem that failed. Modem is compatible with Comcast for Internet service and only take 5 minutes to set up with a competent agent on the opposite end - don't waste time trying to set it up yourself, take it out of the box, hook it up, plug it in and call Comcast (assuming you already have an account with them) - it's as close to turn-key as your going to get. Best of all, no monthly rental fee and it pays for itself in a year or so. The wi-fi is dual channel and has a very strong lower frequency signal, which is terrific for relatively remote security cameras. I am streaming on 4 TVs (typically not all at the same time but it can), I have 3 security cameras, and usually around 6 mobile devices all connected at the same time. I was thinking about setting up a mesh to boost speed, but don't think I need it with the wi-fi as its currently performing - it is positioned in a central location and that helps a lot with radial signal strength. I also use an over the air digital antenna for local TV programming, which provides about 10 channels for free. This configuration is terrific low-cost option for for a second home or anyone with a Comcast ISP account.

Just switched from Frontier to Spectrum. Didn't want to do it but Frontier has been dropping channels I want and raising it's prices as well. Opted out of Spectrum's modem and router and went with this one. It took the Spectrum tech about 30 minutes to activate it for some reason as it's on their list of compatible devices but has been problem free.My house is wired for Ethernet in all rooms but use the wireless feature for Google home, Alexa, phones, laptop and lighting and couldn't be happier with the results this modem gives me. Download speeds around 475 Mps on their 400 Mps plan and great Wi-Fi coverage in all rooms and outside. It was more than I planned on spending but was on sale and glad I went with it.

This router works fantastically with Xfinity. I use the Performance Plus Internet package with speeds up to 175 mbps, and it's amazing with Arris. I rarely have to reset this router - maybe once every few months, just using the phone app to troubleshoot it works best! This provides extremely fast loading times, I have two cat7 ethernet cords plugged into my Xbox One S and PC, and my partner and I can play online games at the same time with very little drop in performance, if any. For example: Overwatch, COD: Warzone, Fortnite, etc. Download times for large games are stupid fast. I rarely have to wait over 20-30 minutes for a total download. Really recommend this router! I've recommended this to several of my friends and they've had similar positive experiences.

We are very happy with this Arris router/modem combo: internet speeds are excellent and performs very smoothly. After cutting the cable cord with Comcast/Xfinity cable, we were looking for a good quality router/modem to replace the Comcast equipment and only pay for their Internet service. When we came to Best Buy, we are looking for more expensive combos first. Best buy person pointed this one to us and it was on sale, worked as a great bargain. This is our second year of usage and highly recommend it.
