Great wifi, but not great range
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this modem/router to replace a Netgear Nighthawk AC 1900 that I have owned for 5 years. I loved its performance, but, understandably, it began to drop wifi. Anyway, I bought the Arris Surfboard today based on the specs which are”better” than my old Netgear. I connected the Arris and, inside the house it works fine. I tested the speed in every room. Of course the further from the unit, the slower the speed, but still good enough for me. The only thing I do is stream tv and get on my computers. My only problem, and is is a major one, is that now I get no wifi in my man cave; none, zippo, zilch. Even dropping wifi, with my aging Netgear, I was able to stream my shows on Netflix, Hulu, and all my other streaming apps. There was buffering every 15-20 minutes, but I could stream. Now, with the Arris Surfboard I cannot even set a roku. Needless to say, I’m returning it tomorrow and buying another Netgear. So great modem/router inside a 1900 sq ft house, but the range not so good outside.
