This is a old out of date modem with new gigabit speed internet. This arris modem will not keep up with your speed and demands. I bought it and returned it back the next day to slow.

Spec Overview: Its 24x8 (meaning 24 download channels and 8 upload channels) Cable Modem , AC2350 Dual band Wi-Fi Router (Model:SBG7400AC2), 4 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Supports download speeds of up to 1 Gbps max speed and Wi-Fi speeds of up to 2350 Mbps. Wi-Fi beamforming – max coverage and performance. With one USB port, 2 yr warranty. Comes with an app (for configurations and settings) for the modem and McAfee home security app for the modem which is free for 90 days for lifesafe version and basic version for 3 yrs
Had this modem installed for about 2 months, upgrade from DOCSIS 2.0 version. Installation was a breeze. I upgraded my router (to Linksys MR8300) to take advantage of the advance performance features this modem offers. I have performance plus (250 MBPS) Xfinity internet. It comes with McAfee Secure Whole Home Internet with App to monitor and configure. It provides notifications of new users attempting to access your network. This app removes the barriers to being informed about your Wi-Fi network and the devices connected to it. Perfect for hardcore gamers and 4k streamers, Compared with other ARRIS models this is the 2nd most powerful modem with the most powerful one being 1.4 Gbps and that supports 32x8 downstream x upstream channels.
Installation and Operation: It was pretty straight forward. Had to call Comcast and gave them the MAC address to activate it. The ARRIS Surfboard Manager App is pretty handy, it enables you to manage your home Wi-Fi network from your mobile device. Enables users to set internet access rules or managed the quality/availability of their home Wi-Fi network. Has features/settings for Wifi speed test, device management, parental controls, WiFi manager and set-up wizard. My old router lacked few features (such as ability to monitor outside connection requests), but with the modem app and McAfee app I was able to overcome the issues that my old router lacked. I upgraded my router to a triband router that hosts a 2.4GHz signals and two separate 5 GHz signals and tested the entire set-up for 4 simultaneous 4k streaming and gaming capability and it worked like a champ. I tweaked the setting on my router to set up priorities on which device gets the preference. With all the devices (24 smart devices and streaming devices) running I was able to clock speeds up to 120 MBPS without a glitch and still have enough bandwidth for new devices. I feel its is really important to have the right combination of modem and router to get full benefits of the internet speeds. ARRIS has been my first choice for the last 15 years as I was more inclined on performance aspect of the modem
Few things to note - This is a high end cable modem that you want if you have several streaming devices and indulge in network gaming. I always debated if I wanted 8 or 16 or 24 or 32 channel (download) modem. I cared more about the download channels to accommodate my streaming needs. The more the number of download channels the better you are - think if it as having extra lanes entering a freeway. Also, the more number of channels, the higher the price. I didn't care much about uploading channels as I don't upload my content to internet and my cable limits the upload speeds as well. DOCSIS 3.1 is a new standard that will be out eventually but for my need I am fine with DOCSIS 3.0 and my DOCIS 2.0 is now obsolete. Cybersecurity is on top of my list for internet devices and I make use of every defense mechanism these devices offer to fend off intruders. I have three layers of defense system now, one from this modem, one from the router and my own internet security system for PC and mobile devices. The defense system offered by the modem and router are really important to prevent intruders gaining access to my home security/smart devices and I did test the vulnerability of the new system and it passed with flying colors. I am happy with the features this modem provided specially the ability to manage settings from the app, was big plus compared to my old modem. This my 4th ARRIS modem and never had issues with the ones I owned in the last 15 years. Can't comment on their customer support and I never had a need to call them. I highly recommend this modem for heavy streamers/gamers and to ones concerned with internet security for home devices

I bought this brand new out of the box and it didn’t work. According to the cable guy, sometimes these thing just happen with technology. I returned it and got a different one. No problem.

I bought this looking to replace my rental unit. On the surface it works. However, if you want to place any sort of parental controls over the home network you have to use the Arris/Mcafee app. This app is complete garbage. Please go check the reviews on the app you need in order to make this work with parental controls. Do not waste your time. With as pathetic as this app is I would have been better off paying the rental fees. I will be returning a perfectly fine modem because the app you have to use is garbage.

Got this one because my old one died I had an extended warranty so they traded my netgear router with this arris which doesn’t cover the same area as the old one. My house is small the old one made it everywhere so either it’s a bad router or they sold me a lesser quality router. Either way not right this is the third product in a short period doesn’t hold up to Best Buy’s commercials

This is great when it works. But i can never be sure if it's the router or the cable company. We have to restart this at least once per day in order to keep data flowing.

Constantly would drop internet at my house. Exchanged it for another and sane issue. This would happen every other day.
Had to restart the product to get everything connected again. Arris was unable to figure out why.
Had the BB warranty so returned it and got a nighthawk. That was a good move.

The first thing I did was to connect the coaxial cable, the Ethernet cable from my computer and then plug in the AC plug. After that there was no more “easy breezy” setup. First I could not get my computer connected to the internet. The quick start guide states that connectivity would be automatic, but my internet access did not connect automatically. Troubleshooting did not help either. After running troubleshooter, I got the messages: Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration and the default gateway is not available. Instructions state to contact my service provider, if WebPages fail to open, to set up my internet service or activate my wireless gateway. I called Spectrum to speak with technical support. The technical support representative requested the MAC address of the ARRIS - SURFboard Dual-Band AC2350 with 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - Black. He stated that all modem/routers must be inputted into the system in order to function within Spectrum’s network; otherwise people could add any modem/router to the network and gain illegal service. It took one hour and forty-five minutes of phone conversation to connect the ARRIS - SURFboard Dual-Band AC2350 with 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - Black to the internet. There was a constant trial and error troubleshooting process that I had to endure to finally access the internet. From constantly rebooting my computer, to constantly unplugging the Ethernet cable and to opening up the Control Panel for analyzing my computer’s settings, I was on an excursion of troubleshooting. Once connected, I attempted to set up my wireless connections. I downloaded the Arris Surfboard Manager from Google Play and tried to use the app for Connecting to the wireless Gateway. I kept getting the error message: Connection to the Surfboard Device failed. Please try again by Forget network manually from device settings. Even trying to manually set up the wireless Gateway manually through the app did not work. Upon further reading, I noticed the app is not compatible with all devices. I connected each of my Wi-Fi devices manually by inputting the security key on each device. Once the ARRIS - SURFboard Dual-Band AC2350 with 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - Black was up and working properly, I did not notice any buffering or slow connection speeds with any of my devices. It operates better than the free modem/router that Spectrum gave me with my subscription to their service.

I was very upset with not getting my item on time. I was advised by a representative when making an appointment to finalize the pick up time for my washer. He told me because of my inconvenience I would get a gift card for the delay. I was told I had to wait until I got my item and then call the manager.. I did this and was told I would get a callback to resolve. Never happened.

The product shuts down at regular intervals and takes at least 2 to three minutes to reboot. I had my service provider come to my house on two occasions to trouble shoot their service delivery up to the point at which it connected to the modem and on both occasions the service delivery was excellent.
