Spectrum customer in western ny. Picked up this modem to replace my spectrum issued modem. Plugged it in booted up fine but no internet, made the dreaded call to Spectrum and 60 minutes later I was up and running. Boot up times on the modem are fairly slow but I have yet to see what I would call a fast modem boot process 2-3 minutes I'd say. Has led lights for power, upstream, downstream wifi and wan. I found the gui page for changing settings loading up rather slow for some reason. Navigation was fairly simple I changed some wifi settings and passwords and was up and running. I find the wifi coverage to be decent and comparable to a good standalone router with no extra antenna's sticking out. 4 gigabit ports for wired connections which I'm using all 4 and they work great. I wish it booted a little faster and the settings page loaded faster but I wouldn't knock a star for that. Does what I need and would recommend, hopefully I will be able to grow into over time when speeds increase in my area 100mb/5mb currently. I enjoy having a modem/router combo that seems to be solid for gaming/streaming.

    Good modem but old

Had this combo modem for 8yrs until my internet speeds exceeded its capability. Besides it had a faulty chipset it served me well. I know people hate combos but this a decent unit with a reasonable price point now. Before it was a $250 modem which saved me money from renting modems from my ISP.

    Finally a Fast Cable Modem!

We've recently moved and our only option is spectrum, so avoiding modem fees and having good home-wide WiFi was a must. It's been several years since I had a cable modem and WOW how things have changed. Setup was straight forward. Called Spectrum, told them the HFC MAC address and was up and running in less than an hour. WiFi speeds were fast, AC2350, whole home WiFi. The Arris also has a working USB port that you can plug an access a hard drive from. This alone is a reason to get it, as my (bitter) experience pre-moving switching to spectrum was the default supplied modem disabled the USB port. Honestly, you can't go wrong. Fast speeds and it will pay for itself in little over a year depending on how much your cable company typically charges you for their modem.

ARRIS SURFboard modem, 4 port and Wi-Fi router

Purchased this cable modem to replace a lower model ARRIS SURFboard that did not have built in 4 port router or Wi-Fi. Needed the upgrade to the 4 port router for hard wired needs, as previous non Wi-Fi router and ARRIS SURFboard and cable modem combo was unable to handle the certified line speed output of the ARRIS SURFboard modem only setup. ISP service is a 400Mbps plan, that actually outputs between 650 and 750Mbps with ARRIS SURFboard modem only and the certified line mode. Non-Wi-Fi router was unable to keep up causing serious latency issues. This new ARRIS SURFboard modem/router combo is able to deliver certified line speed to all consuming compute devices without any latency and dropped packets. Definitely recommend.

I had to first call my isp to make sure they supported this modem as was not on their list, it was. Setup and activation onto my system and use was a breeze. The WiFi was as good as my old stand alone WiFi router and my own cable modem it replaced. I did not save any isp fee since I had been using my own cable non WiFi modem fir a few years already. It was nice to be able to combine my two devices into one streamline box. The lights are bright, but the modem is in an inconspicuous location so not an issue. The overall ease of setup coupled with the Rick solid WiFi signal is a pleasure to behold.

Setting up the Arris Surfboard wireless modem/wifi router was a snap. Basically, I just needed to plug it in using the cables from my old modem/router. The main thing to remember is that once you have the router in place, you will need to call most ISPs (Cox in my case), and have them "provision the modem. This just means that they will be looking for the new modem instead of the old one. Most companies require a call for this, as the modem will have to reset, which stops your Internet service for a few minutes.

Put your tired old rental Modem out of its misery

My previous Modem was the rental version from Xfinity that I received over a year ago. It was an old, large, bulky monstrosity that frequently dropped off the ISP network and had poor WIFI signal. I'm sure it was already paid off in full by the last customer and now had become a profit machine that would never be upgraded. Fast forward to today... I am now using a personally owned ARRIS SBG7600AC2 Modem that was extremely simple to set up. It comes with 32 downstream channels, 8 upstream channels, wireless AC WIFI and 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports built in. On day one, I immediately noticed a faster connection to the ISP and increased network speed from the WIFI. It has not never dropped off the ISP Network and the WIFI coverage has been exceptional. If you are thinking about ditching your old antiquated rental, I highly recommend buying this one.

The set up of the Arris Surfboard wireless modem/wifi router was pretty easy, was able to just plug it in place of my old rental modem. I then called my service provider and they needed the MAC ID from the product to activate it… So far so good! It is nice to have the modem and router as one unit – hence I can get rid of or put away my Linksys Velop 3 pod router. Ok, got internet working, found new SSID and was able to hook up computers/phones/Playstation. Unfortunately, that is as far as I can say anything good… Our connection is horrible throughout the house – unless I am sitting in my room where it is located. My provider says it isn’t their fault – must be a wiring problem but they will come out to analyze for me! Mind you nothing else has changed, same cable, same location, same room!! Funny their weren’t any problems before I started with this new setup. Takes a while to log-in from a dormant computer, drops connection, lost my printer connection – working on reestablishing that as I type this review… pretty confident I can get that back – just frustrated. It comes with McAfee Secure Home Internet application that you can upload as an app on your phone and set up – no thanks because it also wanted me to have anyone who visits to download the McAfee to their device, or it blocks them. I’ll do my due diligence to get this thing working somehow and not have to go back to my rental! Hoping my service provider can figure out what is going on and get us back to a happy household! Kid is not happy with his Playstation connection… At this point I wouldn’t recommend this to people – just no warm and fuzzy with connection stability.

Would Be A Lot Better With Exterior Antennas

Im sure depending on where your able to locate this modem/wifi router it will perform just fine for you. Where you can locate it and where it needs to be located are not always the same place without additional wiring. My reception is good and strong when I am in the same room its in or near it, but down the hall (2000 sq. ft. home) on the other side of the house the signal suffers a great deal. It needs exterior antennas, and Im not really a fan of the modem and router being in a single unit. If one or the other goes bad, you need to replace the entire unit housing both devices. Smaller homes and apartment dwellers with less space to utilize and a smaller coverage area should do great with this unit.
