Great mesh system! Easy to setup and speed increase is awesome! I was tired of the fair performance of my ISP supplied modem/router. I paired this with the Motorola MB8600 modem and the performance is awesome! I am not super tech savvy so the fact that setup was easy is a big plus for me. I don’t need to setup every part of my WiFi, I would rather plug it in and let it do all the work. It does that extremely well!

    Amazing Speed

Set up was smooth, but took a little patience. The speeds are incredible, I'm getting 700+ on my hardwired desktop to my satellite node with a little more distance than ideal between Satellites. I am getting 400-700 over wireless on devices capable of those speeds. Ping is single digit. Cox Gigablast home internet. 850-950 down at the router. I moved from an Eero setup that was getting at most 150 down and typically closer to 50-70 down on wireless devices. My Eero would have trouble on my iPhone and apps would stop having internet, frequently finding myself switching to cellular due to terrible internet. I had tried 3-5 nodes with my Eero and my cameras would disconnect at least once per hour. I have no disconnection issues with my cameras anymore, all devices stay online without issue. I highly recommend this setup for anyone willing to spend the money. It is a little expensive, but for me it was worth it. The size of the nodes doesn't both me at all, but if you had tight spaces you were trying to put them in it could be an issue. They are approximately 12" tall and 6" around. The app is not feature rich, but does work. There are multiple apps on app store and the first one I downloaded directed me to download a different app that was "updated". When you initially set up, you'll have updates on your first node, then connect your second one and it'll update. The first day you will likely see a few disconnects of your satellite, I think it's an updating process that's not communicated. After day 1 everything has been rock solid.

The pros: - Ultra-high speeds, if you have the hardware to support it. - Super-fast wireless backbone eliminates the need for a cable snaking up your stairs to the second story. - Simple to set up. The cons: - Too simple to set up if you have an advanced network already in place. Doesn't allow "AP mode," where the wireless network doesn't use the firewall or routing capabilities. Everything has to go through the firewall on the router side, and the system insists on having its own subnet inside the wireless domain. (I.e., you cannot turn off DHCP on the wireless network) So communication into the wireless network (and anything wired to the satellite) is problematic. - Doesn't roam very aggressively. Devices in line-of-sight to the stronger signal of the satellite will remain on the base router's signal unless the connection gets truly slow and error-prone. - Cannot select wireless channels. Base and Satellite will insist on sitting on congested Wi-Fi channels, even when empty channels exist. (This is more of a problem on the 5GHz band, where both satellite and base park themselves on the low 5GHz band, with the backhaul selecting either the middle or high band, regardless of how many other networks are using the low 5GHz band) - The only way to enable and configure port forwarding is through the app. (Which you must do, because of the aforementioned absence of "AP-only" mode.)

A fantastic addition to our home. The coverage is great, the speed is great, and we have had no issues for 3 years. The pandemic hit and since 2020 we have been using home Wifi to conduct school, business, shopping, and banking from home. The only thing I am wondering is if adding a 3rd WiFi mesh device would be necessary. Setup is done through a phone app. I did not like the phone app in 2020 but Arris (2022) released a major update for the app. We use Xfinity and they increased their data speeds. Today's speed test using Ookla is at 701 Mbps down and 23.8 Mbps up. The conference call continues.

This product is amazing! Boosted my internet speeds and the satellite acts just like a hard wired Ethernet connection to tech hardwired to the satellite router. Great coverage and no dead spots in my >2700sqft home

Really want to love this system but definitely not ready for prime time. If you just need fast WiFi with great coverage this system is for you, but if you have any Smart Home devices you are in for a world of agony. I may have more than most with Sonos, Ring, Nest, AppleTV, Roku, Camera’s, etc but you will experience constant frustration with disconnects and devices unable to connect. Support is very responsive but with no real solutions. I bought the Pro system as soon as it was released and there has yet to be any firmware updates to fix or improve anything. App is pretty basic with very basic configuration options(several items in user guide don’t exist or were removed from the app and never brought back) and if you change the name of a device you are stuck with it, there is no way to reset and clear and customizations if you want to go back to clean default setting. It’s all stored in the cloud and will come right back when the device reconnects. Ethernet backhaul kind of works (although you don’t really know it’s it’s using wired or wireless via the app) but you will still lose the 2nd 5Ghz channel as soon as you add a Satellite even though it’s not used for backhaul traffic.

I was having issues with my internet dropping certain devices and the speeds just weren’t as advertised from my ISP. I have gigabit internet. My speeds from google nest WiFi were around 100 - 200 mbps. But it would drop and buffer certain devices. With the Arris, the speeds are around 800 mbps to 850 mbps. IN MY WHOLE HOUSE!!! I have a 4700 sq ft house. This is worth every penny!!

    ARRIS MESH NETWORK

The two unit black routers works better than my ac router but be warned, the manufacture states that you first have to remove all of your routers and any other units that were connected to your old system. Now I have to program every unit that was used with the new ARRIS mesh router. My nest cameras and smoke detectors had to be INDIVIDUALLY programmed even if all of your units are on the same new wifi network! Best to buy a separate cable modem with 1gb speed that could handle DOCSIS 3.1 My cable provider still is having issues with their first generation mesh that covers the whole house system. Best to just program the first Router and program the second router in the vicinity of the first router, before you move it to your second location. My home never could receive my old router signal in my basement home theater room, too many metal heating ducts in walls and floors. I bought my own cable modem so I do not pay for any monthly rental charge. I just have to give my own DOCSIS 3.1 modem mack code to my cable provider.

Great hardware, terrible software and implementation. I was moving to a much larger house and knew I'd need better coverage, and this certainly delivers on coverage. However, I'm an IT professional and expect a certain level of customization. This product gives you none of that. As others have said, all administration is done through a mobile app, there is no local web GUI. The app is very easy to set up and get going, but if you want to change something later, expect some issues. 1) The network is limited to the 192.168.7.0 address space. 2) There's no domain suffix assigned, and no option to create one. 3) No option to disable IPV6. 4) You can set a custom DNS server, but a reboot will clear it and you'll be back on the ISP's settings. 5) The devices like to "phone home" a lot. Routing everything through a local dns sinkhole revealed a lot of calls to Arris websites. Understandable, but not very transparent. For $600, I expect a lot more control over such a device.

Tired of poor streaming TV performance, I purchased the Arris mesh system to upgrade. The Arris handles all of my smart devices (cameras, tvs, lights) at super speeds. I went from 70mb/s to over 300 on my computers and phones. The only con would be the size of the units, but that is far outweighed by the speed and reliability

While the Max Pro AX11000 demonstrates great speed and range, everything else about the system leaves much to be desired. I've used high end routers and wifi systems from all the top brands, and I actually swapped out a Netgear Orbi system to review this Arris mAX Pro. Setup was pretty simply, however the app starts the install with some pretty confusing questions if you're just a normal residential user. Questions that are aimed to determine beforehand if you're using another gateway, external modem or other router, etc. could confuse most non-technical customers before they even get started. The overall setup process was very fast and easy, all done via the Arris app for iOS. Within just a few mins i had both the router and satellite module up and running. I have a 1Gbps fiber plan (up and down) and have always used wired backhaul on my Orbi to share my gigabit connection with both router and satellites. The mAX Pro says it will do the same, but it has to come via a future update, not supported currently. How a system of this price and supposed feature set doesn't allow wired backhaul is beyond me. To make matters worse, I cannot tell what the backhaul rate is between the router and the satellite. The app is supposed to show the connection rate between the two, but it has never worked. While supposedly having dedicated backhaul wireless channel between router and satellite, my wifi speeds were considerable slower than when i used my wired backhaul connection as the LAC or link aggregation connection. The app is very bare bones, but does offer some good visibility to data, if it actually works. you can see your router and satellite connection, the status of the connection, you can even speed test the connection between the router and your modem/gateway. You can see all your connected devices, however they all show up as mobile phone icons, and there is no ability to change the icons to represent the actual device type. You can change the device name though. Beyond that and some very simply parental controls and settings, the app and system overhaul don't do much more. You have the option to set DNS dynamically, reserve LAN and WAN IP and port forwarding, while also enabling UPnP, and that's it. You have no control over anything else, or visibility to any deeper settings. To a non tech user, this might be fine, but to anyone with mid tech knowledge up to a power user, this system does not offer anything. This is a major drawback. Most all systems on the market today, wifi 6 or not, offer deeper customization for control over every aspect of their network. It gets worse because you can only interact with the settings from the mobile app, there is no option for a browser or desktop based UI. Overall speed and range seem fine. Using an iPhone 11 Pro I'm able to pull down wifi 6 speeds above 700Mbps and all my household devices receive full connection strength no matter where they are in the house. Range is among the farthest I've ever seen in a mesh system. I do see a rather aggressive switching process between router and satellite, and some devices connect to the router even when it's farther away, and default down to the 2.4Ghz band. and with no way to customize this in the settings, and no band steering, i have to live with it. Operation has been ok, but the one thing I've had happen at least 4 times over the last week of use, is random disconnects. This is something that should not happen. When using my Orbi setup, i would never have disconnects, ever. Just in the 7-10 days of using the mAX Pro system, i've had 4 disconnects already. the system goes dead, offline and requires a manual reset through the app or a hard power cycle. Not acceptable, especially for a system in this price range. Hopefully this is something Arris is aware of and working to fix. While speed and range are great, so many other things about the system just keep it a subpar performer for me. A lot of updates are needed to revamp the experience and allow power users the ability to push this system to its potential. Getting wifi 6 speed is great, but not worth the cost of everything else missing.

Speed and coverage are great when the network is up and running. There have been frequent disconnects and slow connection speeds. Currently hooked up with gigabit internet and speeds at the modem are stable. Not isolated to a single device either. App leaves a lot to be desired and there currently is not any other way to set the system up. The lack of reliability just kills it for me. I will be returning it and give WiFi 6 more time to evolve before buying back into it.

I returned this and ended up getting an EERO system which I am generally happy with. The Surfboard MAX is extremely overpriced. As a parent, what I really want is strong, easy to use, parental controls. This didn't have it. I have great speed and mesh wifi coverage with the EERO at a fraction of the cost of the MAX AX11000. I use a surfboard modem/router that I love which was I initially was willing to invest in the AX11000.

Between the backhaul and pure horsepower, this seemed like a great system that wouldn't share my data with Google or Amazon. Our house is not huge, but two units don't seem to handle it, we have had to reset the whole thing frequently, and we never get the promised performance. The app is horrible and offers few settings. I am now in a position of having to add one more unit (making this even more expensive), getting an entirely new system (making this even more expensive), or just suffer along for a while. My suggestion is to avoid this.

I purchased this Arris W133 system to replace my current Apple Airport Extreme's (two routers). This Product claims 6,000 square feet coverage yet I had MUCH better coverage with my airport system. I have had several devices (Nest Cameras) loose connection intermittently and I never had a problem with the airport. Don't get me wrong this system is fast I have Gigabit Internet and I'm getting blazing fast speeds over wifi almost 600 MBPS on my iPhone XS MAX. I contacted Arris who suggested I check the placement of my router which was never an issue before as my house is only 1,500 Square feet! This product cost over $600 and that is unacceptable! I will play with it a little more and update my review.

The routers come well packaged and wrapped in plastic. The only instructions are a barcode that directs you to the new app that delivers on the features missing in the original. Setup is super easy and connecting the satellite router was seamless. The app shows all connected devices and automatically connects to the router with the best signal. The app has more features now than the previos Linksys I was using. The connection speed is great and I had no issues connecting my 20+ devices. The routers are large but look good with a cool lighting ring showing the status. This item has meet all my expectations in a quality mesh, tri-band Wifi 6 router.
