Really wanted to like it.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from first gen Google Wifi. Wanted higher throughput. Blazing fast speeds.... When it worked. Satellites kept losing connection more and more frequently. They would always do it at the same time and most of the time wouldn't auto reconnect. Talked to tech support for a while. Rearranged satellites and swapped them out to try another as the router. 6 hours later and had issues again. I rely on this to work for my Arlo security cams and work. 70 total devices. Can't have it go down all the time. Unfortunately returned it and upgraded to Google Nest wifi.

Simple, works great, great customer service too,
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.simple to set up. Doesn't have an on-board web interface with all the bells and whistles so you have to control it via its app, but it works to deliver great speed and coverage. And great customer service too,

Fast and easy to set up
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We switched to 1 gigabyte fiber optic internet and I wanted a router that could deliver great WiFi speed and cover the whole house (3400 sqft). It has proven to be more than up to the task. I have even had decent coverage in my backyard!

Very good mesh system
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only complaint I have is that my devices do not as aggressively move to other AP and back to the home station. But the speeds are excellent and the back haul between them is super fast. I would definitely recommend this product.

The word Pro does not mean anything
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This should maybe be two stars because it is indeed fast, and does cover my whole home. Configuration options? Essentially none. Other than network name, password, and DNS override that is about it. Where to start on what is missing? 1) Can't change the subnet or subnet mask, so depending on corporate VPNs you may connect to you, you may not be able to access local devices while connected. Customer support on that one say "We don't support VPNs" - which in today remote workforce is like saying "We don't support the internet". 2) Can't be its own DNS server, so you can't use the names that it does know as addresses, so you are left with fixed "reserved" ip addresses, which is super tedious and must be done by typing in the MAC address, again it knows this when you click on a device, but the field is not even available for copy. 3) Item 2 could be addressed if it allowed you to disable DHCP, but of course that is not an option. 4) Does not allow you temporarily disable the 5Ghz radios, which some IOT things require for setup. 5) Saves devices that have connected to it, apparently forever with no way to clean them up. 6) No WPS button, so again might struggle with IOT devices, would be happy if this was app based not a physical button, but again not in the app. All of above could be fixed by updating the configuration app and/or firmware, but sadly the history there shows that they have almost nothing since it was released. This is probably hardware: Although as I stated above it is fast, it is no where close to as fast as they say it should be. Backhaul is stated to be 4.8Gbps, never got it to measure about 2.1 when they were in the same room together, and with them sitting across from each other through two windows with a 35' courtyard between them, it is measuring about 1.3. Missed my return window, so will just struggle along until one day they take the time to fix the stupidly simple issues.

Strong Wi-Fi, but is it too simple?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wireless is getting close to wired as far as reliability and speed goes. And the strong wireless the Arris provides is great, and simple to set up. But for some that simplicity might be a con instead of a pro. In the box you get the 2 Surfboard max routers, 2 power adapters, and ethernet cable. The routers look great. Ive always preferred my electronics to be have the flat or mattle black look and these fit the bill. The LED indicator light strip that lets you know the status, etc. adds a touch of class. There are 4 LAN ports for wired connections as well. Setting everything up wasnt all that difficult. You start off with downloading the mobile app, creating an account if you dont already have one then going through the apps set up process which is pretty straight forward. Once thats all set up its onto the routers. There are multiple set up options in the app that you select depending on your set up. Mine is cable modem and router. Then again just follow the apps instructions on getting connected and online. Once online and registered you can pick a room name or name it yourself. For my set up it was just setting the main router in the living room connected to our modem, then the other router on the other side of the house. Create your connection name and password and you are all set. This did have a few more steps than similar router apps, but it wasnt all that difficult. Once all set up, named, secured, etc. I connected my cell and did some testing. There used to be several “trouble” spots in my house where Wi-Fi was either very slow or would disconnect forcing my phone to connect to LTE. I do not have that issue anymore. And even better there are several devices that I do not need to run long ethernet cables for anymore. The wireless connection is very close to being as strong and fast as wired. But for normal things like using my laptop, phone, or my Nintendo switch it all just works now. And they work everywhere. No more hunting for a strong signal, having to go wired, or in some cases having to switch between 2.4 and 5ghz depending on location in the house. I also dont have any more ports available on my ethernet switch due to several consoles being wired, so its nice not having to always buy yet another splitter, or switch to accommodate another device. All that is a thing of the past which is great. Being able to play Mario Kart online anywhere in the house is amazing. There is one con that advanced users might have an issue with. You are limited to the settings, etc. that are available in the app. I know some people like to tweak their routers with advanced settings and this doesnt have much of that. I know some prefer the simplicity, but its always nice to have that option to get into the advanced stuff. Now Im not sure how much if anything can be added as updates to the app. But for now its pretty much bare bones. So if you are an advanced user be aware of this. So to sum it all up I didnt even know Wi-Fi 6 was so much better until I had it. And now that I do there is no going back. The simplicity of just being able to use Wi-Fi for almost all my devices, and having a solid, strong, and fast signal for the portable ones is awesome. And although being simple is great for most of us, there are some out there looking for more options to tweak the router to their needs. Definitely a recommend for anyone sick of lost or slow connections or not having to worry about how your going to connect your next device via Ethernet if you are out of ports like me. Knowing we are basically future proofed as far as wireless goes is nice.

Finally found it!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router finally covers our 2400 sq ft home! We have a 110 year old house with a brick chimney in the center. It has been many frustrating years trying to get this house “hook up”

I hope you have better luck than I
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't recommend this at all. I actually own two of these and lucky for me one I can still return. I bought one a couple of months back and the setup went fine and the performance was there but after a few days both units start crashing. I did factory resets and even just tried it with one unit with no luck. I ended up going back to my old router until I could find some time to continue down this road. About a week back I picked up another set, thinking the first set was defective. Sadly the new ones do the same exact thing. It is soooo frustrating as I wanted these to work because when they did they did really well. If it didn't crash I could say this may be the best Mesh system out and I have them all (Google, Orbi, AmpliFI, Velop Etc...). This second purchase is going to be returned and I will have to figure out what to do with the first set I bought.

Works well so far
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was experiencing drop-offs with my Netgear Nighthawk router. Did some research and the Surfboard was getting mostly good reviews. Bought this; set-up was easy but there were some minor problems and a local computer tech guy thought the router might be defective, so I exchanged. Setting up the replacement was difficult because some setting from the first router did not clear; customer service was attentive and after awhile figured out the problem and a work-around. Router is working well for the past month or so since it was set up.

Fast but setup and reliability issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup seemed to be much more painful than it should be for an IT person. because I couldn't change the defaults network setting for the mesh network, I ended up having to reconfigure all static IP addresses I had configured. It also seems that they devices randomly lose connection to each other and I have to unplug one side for them to reconnect.

I love this set up
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have just purchased my very first TRI BAND ROUTER. I went with the same brand as my ISP Arris. So far so good. I need to learn a lot more, But the set up was super easy. It was like 1, 2, 3 wow I was done. These are really awesome. I bought 2 for a 2 story home. 1400 sq feet. I would advise you to ask questions and find out as much as you can about the different types of TRI BAND ROUTERS there are out there. Best Buy Employee helped me out a lot.

Great Mesh System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy installation, getting great coverage with two units. I can add one more in the future if needed. Consistently getting 380+Mbps on wi-fi. Before it was erratic and less or around 100 Mbps. Nice modern look, I was able to place satellite unit at my living room and it just looks great. Cons: The management of the router has to be done via their app. No url access to management. That would be ok if the app would have been top of the line, but the app is not that good. Very limited options.I don’t like to app that much.

Overpriced, BIG, setup quirks, and not impressive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is over price and very large. You're not hiding this device in a cabinet. I had issue with the setup and it toof a few attempts to get everything going. I saw not difference in my Google WiFi I was replacing. Customer with $600 to spend on a mesh should go for the EERO instead.

Inconsistent performance, disappointing features
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this 2 unit mesh pro system since August 2019 and it definitely does not meet expectations. The app doesn’t work as it is supposed to, even for the limited features that it does offer. I am not able to see both units in the app and when I contacted customer service, months ago, I was told it was a known defect and it still has not been addressed. I am also unable to view the devices that are connected to the unit. The speeds are ok but rarely meet the speeds I was getting from my one unit Asus router I traded in for this “upgrade”. I am now finding that the router will intermittently reset causing me to lose connection and interrupt my work or gaming.
