Arris Good As Always
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was waiting for a good time to finally upgrade to gigabit speeds, and over the holidays was the perfect time. So far the modem has worked great. These past two days however I've had issues but I'm chalking it up to bad weather from the snow we just go. I've used Arris/Motorola modems for years now and they've always been reliable. The 2.5Gbps port is great for the future. I'm happy with my purchase so far.

Steady performer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This cable modem is overkill for me but I wanted to future proof. I set it up with ease using the comcast app and it had a firmware update and hasnt missed a beat. Steady great performance. Not much heat and not made in china. Solved all of our internet issues. Trade in your old one and BB gives you 15% off.

Compact
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was surprised unboxing this how compact it was to my old modem. I did get more speed from this one compared to my old one. I am not near what my ISP says they're proving but I assume some of that is line loss.

You want Speed and stability--Look no further
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ARRIS SURFboard is Awesome and it is much smaller than the Motorola MB8600 3.1 Cable modem I had, and no intermittent drops like i did with the Motorola MB8600. I saw in reviews about the ARRIS getting hot but I have not encountered any issues with it.

Blistering Speeds!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pulls in 19% more speed than my plan rating, and nearly 100% more than my old DOCSIS 3.0 Modem under the same plan. Runs warm, NOT HOT, but I've set a fan under it for good measure.

Solid new DOCSIS 3.1 Modem.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you find out that your local line has been upgraded to support DOCSIS 3.1 and its speed have been increased and you have two options: one being retiring your current modem and accepting that top tier ISP gear /s, or two buy a reputable modem that supports all the features and it is on the tested and approved list of modems on your ISP support page. Well I always pick the second one of course. Its been running for a few weeks now without a single issue. No resets, no signal drops and its picking up all 33 available downstream channels at my location. We don't have gigabit net but being that my last modem was known for having a bad gaming chip on it this was a huge upgrade along with the upgrade in speed and the extra channels. My only issue is the shape of this thing... Can companies just stop making this things so weird... and make them so that they can be easily mounted to a network rack, network closet or just anywhere as long as you have a few screws. Like who designed this thing... Had to zip tie it to my rack, looks so ugly.

Setup requires contacting ISP - Good modem overall
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modem replaced a 10 year old cable modem that my ISP told me was too slow for my data plan. Installation went fairly smoothly. I was a little dismayed that I had to contact my ISP via their app to report the new modem's serial number (I was hoping to just swap it out and call it a day), but I was still able to get it up and running in about half an hour. One quick note: About an hour after setting it up, I abruptly lost internet for about 20 minutes. I believe that the modem was running a firmware update during this time. After 20 minutes, the modem came back up on its own, and I haven't had any outages since (it's been about a month now). This was a little alarming at the time, but it turns out it wasn't any cause for concern. Yes, I'd recommend this modem to a friend; and I'm even planning on purchasing another one for parent's house.

Great modem
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Modem is fast and easy to setup. It is on Spectrum's approved list but the connection kept dropping although several Spectrum technicians could not resolve the issue. I gave the modem to a family member with another cable company and there have been no issues. I am jealous because this modem is fast!

Fiber ready
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have Xfinity service at the home and this modem is providing full throughput at the bandwith that I have purchased from Xfinity/Comcast. In the near future we will have gigabyte fiber in our neighborhood and this modem will accommodate that upgrade. Very happy with the performance of this modem

I'm a fan
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install and seen some immediate improvements. I've been using different Aris Surfboard modems for years and have never had issues. Pretty much use them until the technology requires that I upgrade. Easy to install and compatible with a lot of different services.

Great Modem but temporary issues with Comcast
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: This modem boosted my Comcast 1gb speeds from 400/500 to 600/700 Mbps. The bad: Seems to be a bug between Arris and Comcast for the S33 V2 causing the modem to reboot twice on weekdays at about 3am CT (weird, I know) appearing to try to take an update? Looking at forums like DSLReports, mu.tiple people are experiencing the same issue. After two service calls, i finally got Comcast's attention by posting a direct response to Comcast at DSLReports, whereby they opened a ticket to the engineers. Ticket is unresolved at this time, but I'm sure that they will find and fix the problem. Sometimes it's rough being on the 'bleeding edge' of new technology. Web interface is somewhat limited (like I can't change time zone). The app is even more so limited. I suppose it's sufficient for a modem, tho.
