Stay away from this model. It's a very small footprint, so it runs hot and drops the signal constantly throughout the day. After several days of troublehshooting, speaking with Cox, and testing my equipment, everything pointed to this S34 Modem. It was hot to the touch and would run hot all day. Don't waste your time or your dollars. Best Buy had a very short return window on this item, which I missed, so I was out several hundred dollars. Not happy.

Do not !!!! I have always used Netgear, decided to switch. Wow… pure trash, would only pull 500 out 1GB plan, overheated, dropped connection, would not hold a profile- PURE JUNK !!! Xfinity tech came out and confirmed modem is TRASH. Returned at BB replaced with Netgear CM2500 speed test 1000mbps and ZERO ISSUES. DO NOT BUY THIS TRASH

Seemed solid, good build. Cox blows. Box says its compatible (which I am sure it is) weasels at Cox say its not and I have to use a much older DOCSIS 3.1 modem. Not happy, not with BB or this device but Cox.

This is the new S34 cable modem for higher upload speeds (approx 400mbps upload). I received a notification last December (2023) from comcast/xfinity that higher upload speeds were available, and that my existing modem (S33), was not capable of taking advatage of those speeds. It’s true, the S33 only provided 40mbps upload speeds. The S34 provides up to ~400mbps upload with the new OFDM channels for upload. Download speeds are still capable up to 2.5gbps (or 3.5gbps with dual wan ethernet). The higher upload speeds are meant for all the video conferencing, VR, facetime, etc. that existing upload speeds have overlooked for a long time, until now. Definately purchase this instead of the S33 if you need a new cable modem so you can take advantage of higher upload speeds in your area, including when it becomes available in the future. Docsis 4.0 is coming (10gbps), but who knows when. This will take care of business until then.

Purchase the S34 to upgrade from a Surfboard 6190. Super fast speed and setup was quck! I would highly recommend ARRIS for your home network. The multi gig ethernet port came in handy. I will be increasing my internet speed with my cable company to take full advantage of the modem capabilities!

Don’t base your purchase on just the reviews here. Check the reviews on amazon and other places. This modem has so many disconnection issues. I wrote this review to warn others.
