Stays connected
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have Xfinity and our 3 year old modem was restarting to die so i purchased this for replacement. It works well. I used the Xfinity app to get connected and took about 5 minutes although you can use the surfboard connect app to do the same or press skip at the bottom. To be honest I don't think you need the surfboard connect app and it isn't very useful for this S34 modem as i plug into my Asus wifi router for everything else. After Xfinity said I was connected it rebooted the modem which took 10 minutes then I was able to use my wifi so don't panic. From opening the box to wifi was 30 minutes. I get 600mb on two devices at the same time and our area has max upload of 40mb which I am getting. It works great!

Future ready upgrade for xfinity next gen speed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace a decade old docsis 3.0 surfboard modem that was still hanging on but it was time to upgrade. Activation took some time and trouble due to xfinity but once that was sorted out it is solid. I bought this specific model because it will support xfinity upload speeds that are rolling out. The modem includes an energy efficiency setting and can be set to have the led lights off. Good options.

Does what it says
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for the Enhanced Upload speeds offered by Xfinity. It doesn’t disappoint as I can see download/upload of 1600/330Mbps and even has the ability to turn off the LED to help darken the room. Also solves the rental fee problem, if you dont mind tending to your own network equipment.

S34
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far its working fine, I have a gig plan from Xfinity but I'm only getting 800-850 when hard wired to my Nighthawk 5400 router Does run very hot over 120 deg.

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the S34 modem believing my router (capable of 350Mbps) would still allow me to reach into the 150 Mbps range. My outdated old modem only gave me 28 Mbps and the S34 bumped it up to 38 Mbps. I'm either missing something or Xfinity has me throttled. I'll update this review if I figure out a speed increase.

Great modem, poor setup.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely a great modem, but the web interface needs to be more secure as both the router and browser complain that it isn't secure. The Energy Efficient Ethernet is a great feature, but it would help to be able to turn it on and off easier. The worst thing about is the app they recommend you use to setup and register it. It's much easier to skip the app and use the web interface to register and set it up.

A excellent choice for a cable modem
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The S34 is the newer version of the already excellent S33 which is on top of most best modems lists. This was only $20.00 more than the S33 so that is the reason I bought this one. Could not be happier. Set up was incredibly simple. The enclosed quick set up guide tells you to download the Surfboard Central app to complete the set up. You do not need to do this. The app just directs you to the Xfinity website to add the modem. I used the Xfinity app and within 10 minutes I was on the internet. I was actually amazed because I had to change modems in the past and it was a nightmare to do. The immediate difference I noticed was my upload speed with my old router increased from 40 Mbps to 350 Mbps and my download went to 850 Mbps consistently. I have now upgraded my network to the TP-Link B65 - BE1100 WIFI 7 mesh router and while my upload speeds stayed the same my downloads are now over 1G. I also read may reviews that this modem runs hot. I found that this was not the case. It does get warm but if you leave it a well ventilated space you should not see any issues. If your looking to future proof you home network you should really get this one. Your probably not going to need a new one for may years.

Outstanding Modem, Perfect for 2 GIg Xfinity Plan
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had the s33 modem, but discovered that for faster Xfinity Upload speeds, we needed to upgrade to this. Once we did, our new 2 Gig plan works like a charm!! We have this modem plugged into the Eero Max 7 Wifi system and we are super happy. Modem setup was a flash, Xfinity only needed the modem MAC address and we were in business!

Solving Xfinity Issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple and easy to connect, I had more issues with my ISP than I did with the Arris S34 modem.

Blazing fast!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchase the S34 to upgrade from a Surfboard 6190. Super fast speed and setup was quck! I would highly recommend ARRIS for your home network. The multi gig ethernet port came in handy. I will be increasing my internet speed with my cable company to take full advantage of the modem capabilities!

Excellent for higher upload speeds!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the new S34 cable modem for higher upload speeds (approx 400mbps upload). I received a notification last December (2023) from comcast/xfinity that higher upload speeds were available, and that my existing modem (S33), was not capable of taking advatage of those speeds. It’s true, the S33 only provided 40mbps upload speeds. The S34 provides up to ~400mbps upload with the new OFDM channels for upload. Download speeds are still capable up to 2.5gbps (or 3.5gbps with dual wan ethernet). The higher upload speeds are meant for all the video conferencing, VR, facetime, etc. that existing upload speeds have overlooked for a long time, until now. Definately purchase this instead of the S33 if you need a new cable modem so you can take advantage of higher upload speeds in your area, including when it becomes available in the future. Docsis 4.0 is coming (10gbps), but who knows when. This will take care of business until then.

Has more issues than its worth.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t base your purchase on just the reviews here. Check the reviews on amazon and other places. This modem has so many disconnection issues. I wrote this review to warn others.
