This cable modem is fast and reliable. Have had similar models running for years without any issues. Typically the issue is with the Cable Internet Provider. Save yourself the monthly cost of renting a modem from your provider. Pay the cost and you will be saving money before a year is out. Be aware that this is only a modem. This doesn't have Wifi or behave like a Router.

I bought this to upgrade my other modem to make sure it's ready to handle the new technology and faster speeds once they implement them in my area. Right now we get 50Meg download speeds and awaiting for 100Meg. I run a wireless router behind my modem as I think it' runs better than a wifi enabled modem. Connection wise, this modem works great and handles the speeds just fine. No blinking lights anyway, just the ones that are on and they stay solid and that's it.

Just moved to Danbury, CT. Went with Comcast/Xfinity for Cable/Internet service, but did not want to rent their equipment. Already had a Netgear Nighthawk 1900 router (also purchased from Best Buy), but needed a modem. Went with the Arris Surfboard SB6183 and could not be more pleased. Set up was easy and the modem has worked flawlessly.

I recently moved and thought I would give the Netgear Cable/Modem Router a try. Had a few issues so I returned it and purchased this Modem. I found it works much better to seperate the two. I use a Netgear R7000 Router with the Arris Motorola Modem. In my previous residence I had a Motorola Surboard SBG6580 that lasted over two years until I moved an bought a faster one. Could not be happier with this modem and the speeds we receive from TimeWarner Cable.

I am using the modem for two weeks now and its working flawlessly. I replaced this with my older model of same brand which i had it for more than four years, but it was acting up; so i decided to buy the new one. It's easily to install. Just contact your local servcie provider, they will walk you thorugh the steps, and you're done I have TimeWarner cable (Spectrum), and it's perfect for that.

I purchased this version to replace a Motorola 6121 DOCSIS 3.0 that was working fine. But after doing some research about the speed and performance improvements, it was clear that utilizing the 16 download channels would result in better performance for HD streaming and movie downloads. As soon as it was installed and authorized by Comcast, I did a speed test and went from 120 download speed to about 180Mbps. I haven't looked back. Great product.

Purchased this to avoid the Comcast/Xfinity modem lease option. This is a very fast modem (doesn't hurt that I have 105 mbs service), and was plug and play. HIghly recommended you purchase some kind of Surfboard series modem if you are paying a monthly lease fee. It pays for itself very quickly.

I already had a Motorola SB6121 cable modem... It worked fine... However, one problem we've always had with Time Warner in our area is hiccupping during peak times... Too much congestion in our neighborhood... One day I saw a sale on the SB6141, and I wondered what the difference could be... Motorola makes 3 cable modem models - the SB6121, SB6141 and the SB6183... The difference between them is the channels they can handle upstream and downstream... SB6121 - 4x4 (4 down, 4 up) SB6141 - 8x4 (8 down, 4 up) SB6183 - 16x4 (16 down, 4 up) To understand your compatibility you would need to know what your ISP supports in your area... I called Time Warner and after being passed thru a few people who didn't know what I was asking about I finally got to a knowledgeable tech support person who confirmed they were running 16x16 in my area... So, I picked up an SB6183 locally and headed home... I did a speed test before switching the routers... On my SB6121 I was pulling 28Mbps... After installing the SB6183 I jumped to about 34Mbps... All thru having access to all available channels to assure my bandwidth... We have not had any stuttering issues since... If your local ISP supports 16 downstream channels I would highly recommend upgrading to the SB6183...

I bought the Motorola/Arris SURFboard SB6183 to replace my Motorola SURFboard SB6141. I upgraded to the 300Mbps cable internet service from Time Warner and found that, while the SB6141 claims up to 343 Mbps, Time Warner only supports 100 Mbps service through it. The options for cable modems supported at the higher bandwidth were only the SB6183 and the Netgear C6300, which includes an integrated WIFI router. I had liked the compact enclosure of the SB6141, and, although larger, the SB6183 is still a compact, elegant component. I hadn't planned on replacing my WIFI router, so the SB6183 was the clear winner over the C6300, which had some sketchy reviews online. And Best Buy had the best price on the internet, even lower than Amazon. When I installed the SB6183 and activated it with Time Warner, I got a big surprise: my bandwidth decreased! I contacted customer support at Arris, and they were very helpful in stepping me through the diagnostics to determine that the SB6183 was connecting fine to the outside internet. And Time Warner assured me that the connection to the cable modem was fast. So I concluded that I needed to upgrade my old D-Link DIR 655. There is still some mystery there because the performance degradation was over wired ethernet; I expected only to be Gbps limited. And the D-Link customer service was non-existent; they offered only consulting service on an hourly fee basis. Anyway, once I replaced the DIR 655 with a Netgear R7000 WIFI router, I got the bigger bandwidth I expected inside my LAN. The C6300 combo would have been cheaper overall than the SB6183 plus the R7000, but I like the independence of the devices and the ability to choose whatever router I like.

We got tired of Time Warner's shenanigans charging the service fee for a modem rental. This Motorola has performed smoothly, was easy to set up and is fast. We just called into customer service with the MAC code and it was set up. Great modem! The ISP sucks though but there aren't many choices in our part of LA and therein lies the moral of the story.
