This Cable Modem if great if you are looking to save some money in the long run by not having to pay a monthly rental fee. After four months you are ahead of the game. The Modem is easy to set up and does exactly what it is supposed to do.

save yourself money - buy your own Cable Modem

save yourself money - buy your own Cable Modem. Check with your ISP as to which modem they will say works, with your level of download / upload speed. For me, this modem worked fine for 200 and 300 download speed (2 different locations, both on Optimum/Altice's network). Your ISP will likely charge you $10 a month rental for your cable modem. That is $120 a month. They will tell you if you do not rent their modem they cannot offer you "support" on it if it goes bad. I have had 2 of these now, this newest one at a different location, and had no issue with either the newer one, or the one I purchased 2 years ago. The hardest thing is setting up the first time, where I had to call optimum/altice, because it would not register for me. After about an hour getting them to register it, I was good to go.

Bought to use with Spectrum, works very well, had the older version before this and that one is still worked after 5 years of being on 24/7. Saving it for a backup. This one get a little hotter, but so far no issues. I get about 500mb and up without issues.

I purchased this to get out of paying the modem rental fee from Optimum. Its 16 channels and they are upgrading a lot of areas to 24 channels.. But it works great with the 100Mbit service and is less than half the price of the SB8200. This modem was recommended as having no PUMA 6 chip bug.

Speeds top off around 150 mbps. Small and out of the way. Save money not renting from your ISP

The SB6183 was priced very nicely at Best Buy and was easy to setup with Time Warner. I unplugged my old leased modem, hooked up the new SB6183 and TW support activated it and was working within about 30 min total. Great experience and hopefully will last several years.

Supports fast internet connection. We upgraded to this modem because we increased our internet speed to 300MB download and 10MB upload. Our old 4 year old modem could not support it. It works as advertised. No downtime encountered since we bought it several months ago.

If you want the highest possible speed out of your cable service, I would certainly say, look no further. No matter the Tier you have. The purchase pays for itself if you're leasing the equipment from your cable provider. There's absolutely no reason why someone should be leasing their equipment now, unless of course you just like to give the cable co. your money for no good reason.

I purchased this modem on the recommendation of a Best Buy employee. Come to find out it is the same one that my internet company uses and they were very glad I purchased this model. I t handles the speeds extremely well with no slow downs at all.

After struggling with justifying a huge TWC cable bill every month ($206) for what I term "conservative" service (Unlimited phone, regular speed internet, and next-tier above basic cable), I did some digging and found that and found that I was still renting the modem from TWC (about $9/mo if I recall) and was limited from any speed upgrade by the old modem. Now in fairness, TWC offered to "upgrade" my modem for free (retaining the monthly rental) after I stripped out the channels we never watched and got the bill down to $120/mo but I wanted a better modem than what they offered and I wanted to OWN it. I did upgrade to TWC Turbo because they threw it in as a bene when I threatened to bail - but speed tests before and after confirmed a 50%+ speed data up/download increase. The modem is fairly priced, pretty much plug & play (believe me, if *I* can figure it out, you can too) and it worked as advertised (and rated by other users) right out of the box. Just don't forget to upgrade your router afterwards....that's your next limiting factor for 2G/5G signals.

Good modem for its price. Size is also small, which is another positive. not too worried about using an older technology since we are not going to get higher data rates at home anytime soon.

This cable modem really does the job. It is reasonably priced and takes up less space then the rental one from the cable/internet company. The best part is I am saving money every month by not paying the cable company's rental equipment fee!

This modem is perfect for my Xfinity internet of speed of 300. It will work you thru the setup process with Xfinity once turned on. It's just as good as Netgear but cheaper.

Installed this bad boy within ten minutes and was up and running with time Warner after registering it's MAC address. Speeds have been consistent using DOCSIS 3 since installed for about a month in conjunction with my gigabit router. Definitely recommend if you want the fastest pure cable modem out there right now.

Had to return a couple of these modems at first as they were not working properly. Best Buy traded them out with no question and finally got this one working. Cox Ultimate internet is working great on this modem seeing speeds at over 300 Mb/s. Has been reliable for the last 3 months I've had it.

Surfboard modems continue to be the gold standard for modems. Worked great with my Comcast connection. Bought the modem, replaced the broken one I had at home. And it started setup automatically with my Comcast account. Did not even need to call Comcast.

Purchased this to replace the modem TWC provided as a rental mainly to not have to keep paying the $10 extra per month to rent theirs. This modem works better than the one they provided! Very fast, never crashes, and was easy to set up!

I moved from a 1-story apartment to a 3-story home. I put Google Nest wifi routers on each level to get a strong signal throughout. Then my old Motorola modem/router combo died. I didn’t need to buy another router because my Google Nest is a router, so I just got this new modem-only device. It was easy to install and setup with my Internet provider. I simply plugged the main Google Nest “puck” into the modem and called Comcast with the modem product and serial number. It’s been a month and no problems so far. Buying a third party modem will be worth it in the long run rather than paying Comcast’s monthly rental fee.

Works great, easy to install, fast speeds. Second time I buy one, the first one burned out after 2 years, I keep it attached to the wall so maybe it doesnt breath well and over heats. Good price for the quality, had lots of crappy routers in the past
