TWC upgraded my broadband and told me my modem had to be upgraded to take advantage of the higher speed. After confirming this unit was compatible, I made the purchase. A note to other TWC users: if you too get your telephone service via TWC, you'll need to get an additional phone modem from them. Apparently, none of the 3rd party modems with telephony work with TWC. The TWC modem comes at no extra cost, however, so the only expense will be space for the device. Setup of the two units was easy, but a phone call to TWC support is needed to activate them. I had to speak to one rep to activate the broadband modem and another for the telephone service. After a month's usage, I can say that the purchase and effort have been worth it.

Installed with no problems, although I did have to call the cable company to get them to do some configurations to provision it for maximum speed. If you don't do that, you won't get the max speed. The lady on the phone didn't know what I was talking about at first, but I asked her to look at my settings anyway and she figured it out. Then I went from 50 Mbps to 118 Mbps! I used www.speedtest.net to measure the speed. Now I'm saving $20 per month on my internet access because I no longer pay the modem rental fee, plus I downgraded to a lower tier of service and am still getting faster speeds than I was before with the higher tier of service. So faster speed at a lower cost. And this modem works perfectly, setup was about 2 minutes.

I have been using this Modem since December. At a rental fee of about $10 a month I have saved about $70 and just about paid for the modem. I purchased this Modem because of the reviews and because it was on the list of acceptable replacements provided by the cable company. I also purchased more modem than I needed. This will handle higher transfer speeds (up and down). I originally started with 20/2 and have been using it with 200/20 since June. It is working great and was easy to set up. It also fits in nicely to my surroundings. Looks more like a work of art, than a 50's set of rabbit ears.

Easy installation. The modem is great. I have had nor problems at all. Very fast and handles multiple computers and gaming systems at the same time, while asle streaming videos on several I phones and Ipads

Works great. Gives me 300+ download associated with my COX cable internet. Was easy to set up through cox and works well with my apple Airport routers. Seems to work well so far with my PS4

I replaced my rented Comcast modem/router/WiFi unit with this Arris modem and am really happy. I paired it with an 8-port ethernet switch and 3 EERO-Pro WiFi units...I now have a really fast and rock solid mesh system in my house. The modem responds well and is really easy to set up...you may need to call your internet provider (I did) to get them to register the new cable modem...that might take more work than setting up the modem itself. Some notes...it only has one ethernet cable output and is NOT a router...I use my EERO gateway unit as the router which feeds my 8-port switch. All in all a nice unit for the price!

My mother's modem would work for awhile, and then just freeze - no internet connection. I called Comcast. Their representative was merely reading from a prepared list of possible scenarios. It became apparent it was time to purchase a new modem. My second call to Comcast to activate the new Arris SURFboard 600 was actually a pleasant experience. This rep new what he was talking about. He was surprised to hear my old Motorola modem had lasted as long as it did - about 6 years. He had had the same one installed at his home. His had died after approximately 5 years. The activation call with Comcast is basically a verification of serial number and of course, an internet connection. The Arris SURFboard 600 is reliable and fast.

The modem is lighting fast and very reliable (as reliable as your ISP). However, there is really no sense in going this route if you have less than a 50 Mbps connection from your ISP. The only issue I ran into was I was hooking this modem up to an out-dated router which caused a bunch of connection problems and drastic slow-downs. I updated my router firmware which fixed the connection but my bandwidth was bottlenecking at my router so I had to upgrade the router as well (not the modem's fault really). Now that both are upgraded, I am enjoying the full potential of my connection.

Small and compact but works very well! Glad I bought it with the help of bestbuy crew. Hands down the best. Not to mention, it was CHEAP too

Why rent a modem from the cable company when you can buy one? I can't believe it took me this long to purchase a modem. The setup was a breeze, the unit has a small footprint but is big on performance!

I bought this item in stores and it was listed at $77. After talking with the Assistant Manager, she informed me it was cheaper on bestbuy.com and I was able to get it for $69. It's not that much cheaper, but everything helps. I bought this modem for my new house because there are 3 floors and my 2 in 1 Arris router wasn't strong enough to push signal upstairs. I have 100 Mbps internet and my master bedroom upstairs was getting 12 Mbps from wifi. I bought this modem and then got the Google Wifi Mesh Network. I am now rocking 99-110 Mbps to every room in my house. This modem and the Google Wifi work great together.

Bought this modem, because our old one was not DOCSIS 3.0, and we needed more speed! This did give us more speed. Setup was easy. It does give out a lot of light, I'm glad it isn't in my bedroom.

I had to replace my old cable modem. I believe that the old modem was the bottle neck for getting the most out of my internet since I have a very fast and capable Asus RT-AC88U router. I decided on Arris Surfboard SB6183 due to 16 download and 4 upload channels. What a difference it has made for our household. We have 4 IP cameras around the house, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones, several computers and laptops all running at the same time. Then at night time we watch Netflix. Not a hiccup since we installed the new modem. Wow.

A solid unit with solid connection! The modem was extremely easy to install. Plug in, call ISP and you are good. The speeds are fantastically fast and this modem was well worth the price.

I had to return the first modem that I bought as did not function. The replacement however, functions perfectly and gives me the speeds it's supposed to. Reasonably priced and relatively easy to set up. Never again will I pay an ISP a monthly charge to lease their modem.

Easy installation and solid performance. Net improvement will depend on what modem you are upgrading from and the mbps you are paying for. Boost more noticeable for higher speed plans.

I've used Surfboard modems before and my last one live a good long life. So buying this one was a no brainer. Easy set-up, running in minutes and working solidly ever since. Only drawback: good God the lights are bright. Had to cover the lights so I could sleep.

As a new Time Warner Cable customer, I was amazed at the cost of their "rental" - especially when I already owned my own D-Link router. Found out about this wonderful cable modem and immediately purchased it. It works great, was easy to set up and meets and/or exceeds all my expectations. The cost of purchase will be offset in about 10 months of not having to pay rental and everything after that is money in my pocket. Couldn't be happier.

The Arris SB6183 cable modem is stable and faster than I currently need with my 200 Mb/s download and 20 Mb/s upload speed. From my limited research, it is compatible with most providers. The LEDs are very bright as others have mentioned. Fortunately, its not in the bedroom. I have it on a chill pad along with an Asus router and is never hot or even warm to the touch. I am pleased with this modem so far and foresee no problems.

2 Years Later and still working great. I have Spectrum 100/10 package and pulling 112/11. Highly recommend for the price.
