Works as advertised. I've had it running 24 hrs. a day now for about 2 weeks and I have had no issues with heat build up or performance. I subscribe to 200mbs down and 20mbs up service and I average about 210/20. So I am right on target. Couldn't be happier.

ARRIS SURFboard Working Great

I bought the ARRIS SURFboad about a month and a half ago. ARRIS bought the product from Motorola, so it had a similar look as the old cable modem I replaced. I hooked it up to the cable and my router, powered it up, and called the cable company to have them attach it to their system. They needed the MAC address which I found on a sticker on the bottom of the unit. It took a several minutes for the new information to work its way through their system, and I was back online again. It has worked flawlessly since, and increased our upload and download speeds considerably. Even though this was my first time replacing a cable modem with one from a store, I felt the process was very easy and everything went smoothly.

I was rollin' old school style with a Motorola SB6120. It worked great but could no longer keep up with the maximum speeds of my new cable plan. Alas it was time for an upgrade!
After much soul searching (and a few online reviews) I settled upon the Arris SB6190. After a month with her I must say, she has not disappointed. Not only does she help me reach my maximum download speeds allowed under my current internet plan, but she should be capable of helping me stay maxed out for years to come.
If you get an Arris SB6190 and find that your internet speeds still are not what they should be, it's probably you, not her. Check your cable connections as they're run throughout the house. Too many splits between where your cable lines are first serviced to your house and the outlet you have your wee lass plugged into can dramatically impact the overall speeds you're capable of getting.

This modem isn't flashy, but checks all the right boxes for being somewhat "future proof" with Docsis 3.0 and mutltiple downstream channels. This pairs well with my router and ensures I am getting every bit of the download/upload speeds I pay for with my ISP.

We decided to cut ties, as much as possible, with Comcast and the first step was purchasing our own modem. This saves us $10 per month in rental fees and, after a year, this modem will pay for itself. I did an internet speed check with the Comcast modem and with this modem at various times throughout the day, both on weekdays and weekends. We are consistently getting faster upload and download speeds with this modem. The Comcast modem was consistently slower than what we were paying; this Arris modem gives us faster speeds.
We did have a slight problem connecting this modem but after reading various reviews and websites found that it is easier to just call Comcast and have them send signals to the modem and 'register' it to your account versus sitting around waiting for the modem to activate.
Overall, I highly recommend this modem if you're looking to ditch the rental fees.

Bought this modem to replace the old DOCSIS 2 modem and it a great one. I no longer have to reboot like the old one. It rock solid and my internet speed is increasing. I am quite happy with this purchase. BTW, my internet provider is Cox Communications.

I initially got this to deal with maybe a 50-75mbps connection and it did it just as well as it is now with a much higher speed of 300+mbps. It's simple, it's fast, and it does exactly what it's supposed to!

SB6190. . . NOT FOR OPTIMUM !!!

I didn't want to give this a poor rating, because it's no fault of the product, but this WILL NOT WORK with Optimum Cable !! Of course. I usually do my research regarding compatibility of stuff like this, but I was told by an Optimum rep that ANY DOCSIS 3.0 router will work. I spent the better part of the morning waiting for the internet light to come on to show I had incoming internet. Nothin'. The problem turned out to be, anything with more than 16x4 channels isn't supported by Optimum.
After a quick curbside exchange for the SB6183, I was up and running in 25 minutes.
**The "No" Recommendation is only because of the lack of Optimum compatibility.

I was sick of making trips to the Comcast store so I tried this modem out. Wow what a difference in speed and reliability! I have had it for a month and no issues sorry Comcast but your equipment sucks. Buy this modem and all your problems are gone trust me.

SB6190 is definitely the best modem currently available! If you want the best cable modem with the fastest possible speed and reliability, this is the modem for you. It is supported by Spectrum and with their new service plans Internet is extremely fast.

I originally purchased a 3.1 then found out my ISP would only do "their" 3.1 so I couldn't use it. I returned it and I bought this one and after getting the MAC address added with my ISP it worked great.

Couldn't ask for anything more. Install is as 1-2-3 and you'll get excellent performance with cox.com. Just remember to register the modem with your ISP after installing. I have mine coupled with and Apple Airport Extreme and everything's rock solid. Great value!

Purchased the Arris surfboard for a second time. The old one gave out after many years of use. It never had an issue prior to going out due to a power surge.
I work from home 95% of the time and network uptime is important to me. I’m hoping this unit will last just as long, can’t beat it for the price.
I highly recommend this item.

Used this on two ISP providers to avoid rental charges. Easy to install, fast UL/DL speeds. Works well with various Wifi routers. I like the flexibility to chose my own WiFi router and place it anywhere away from the cable outlet.

If you are a fan of the surfboard series, this is the modem to have. I bought this modem to replace an SB6141 as I was limited by my ISP (Spectrum) due to the modem only being 8/4. I am very pleased with the ease of set-up and performance of this modem.

I’ve had a trash 320 mbps router for who knows how long and I thought I was running at top speed. Once I switched to this, it was game over. I’m a gamer and I’ve Yet to experience a hiccup.
