I have Comcast internet service, 150 mb/s. My older cable modem would only get around 100 mb/s. That worked fine when I had 50 mb/s service. When I upgraded to 150 and couldn't get the full speed, I suspected the older modem wasn't capable of the higher speed, even though the manufacture's specs said it would do 384 mb/s. I upgraded to this modem and now get the full speed that I am paying for. As a bonus it is much smaller than my older modem so takes up less desktop space. This model was listed on Comcast's website as a supported model. Note that if you have phone service with Comcast, this modem does not support telephony, so you would not be able to use it for phone. My phone services is with Oooma, so it is fine for me.

Love this modem. Works like a charm, easy to get up and running. Getting much better connectivity and download speed than the Comcast rental modem (about double the speed - over 200 mbps). Worth every penny that I am saving in the $10/month rental fee.

Great modem. Absolutely works well with my internet provider (box lists providers it is good with) and speed of downloads really went to what I’ve been paying for (old modem holding sped back) with our provider. Set up directions very clear.

The Arris surf is compatible with Xfinity and despite a bit high price wise it beats all others at speed and performance. If you need performance then buy Arris surf hands down. The flip side is one needs a separate wifi router for home.

Upgrading to this modem fixed the slow speed and disconnect issues I was having with my SB1641 modem. Have had very few "reset" disconnects in the last month. The only issue I have is the web interface seems slow compared to the SB1641 when checking config and status logs. otherwise a noticeable improvement in general internet performance.

This was purchased by me over a year ago and now I am reviewing it, for those interested. This was sort of a pricy purchase for me as I had been using the box that the internet company leased to me at $10 a month. I wanted to get away from that and buy my own equipment and this was part of the package. I had researched it beforehand, so I knew it was very reliable and was compatible with my Suddenlink. I had zero problems hooking it up to my router and it has been working just fine for over a year now. It has been going strong all this time, so I give it 5 stars for ease of use, setup and overall reliability.

I upgraded to this modem from the Arris 6183 because with faster speeds from my provider I needed a faster modem.Arris has never let me down. It was easy to set up and is compatible with most of the broadband providers. I have Comcast/XFINITY You can't go wrong.

This is a must have for gig internet. I replaced my 10 year old surfboard modem with this one. This one was just as easy to get going... Plug and play. Gig internet with this modem is great for all my tech nerd needs. I have RCN Lehigh Valley and it works as it should.

Docsis 3.1 for up to 1GPS download speeds. Easy to set up and works flawlessly with my local provider. My 2nd Arris modem and the first one still works great. Had to switch to Docsis 3.1 for higher speed, otherwise would’ve stuck with my old one.

ARRIS Gig-Speed Cable Modem - Amazing Product!

I've never used Arris products before until now, so I didn't know what to expect (despite the great reviews). Initially I bought this to go with my tp-link deco mesh routers, and they did work together. However, I learned that it is not ideal to mix brands (even though each website said they were compatible with one another & my ISP). I live in a 61-year-old multi-level home and the layout is full of walls/barriers for good wifi reception. Although this cable modem works amazingly well combined with a different brand of routers, I did end up purchasing a set of Arris mesh routers to go with this. Now, it works perfectly! The product itself is very lightweight, which causes issues when connecting a coax cable to the back. The coax is heavier than the modem, causing it to move in whatever direction the cable moves. That makes it a little inconvenient, but it's workable. Otherwise, it's really simple to hook up and get going. Download the app and set up will take you no time. *Beware, there isn't a full owner's manual for this in the box, just a quick start guide. If you want more detailed info, you'll have to get it online. Likewise with the specifics of the Surfboard app. *Also, do realize that this is a modem only, not a modem/wifi router combo. This will NOT give you a wifi connection throughout your home without a wifi router. I would certainly recommend this modem.

New modem cleared our streaming bottleneck

We had updated our Xfinity Blast level web service, updated our routers to Linksys Velop mesh wifi with a 4 node setup, and we were still having freeze ups in movies we were streaming over Apple TV 4K. Looked up my 3 yr old Arris cable modem and learned of the now well known Intel chip issue with our old model. Seemed to reveal that the latest Cable modems were able to provide better speeds and were using dependable Broadcom chips. Picked up the Arris Docsis 3.1 32 x 8 Cable Modem and installation /activation went smoothly with Xfinity. In short, the old model modem had been the cause of the data bottleneck. Streaming content no longer freezes. Very happy with the product.

    Arris Surf Modem SB8200

I purchased the Arris Surf Modem SB8200 as an upgrade to an older Arris Modem SB6121 that I purchased a number of years ago. The new Arris SB8200 is a complete upgrade to my home internet network. It increased my download and upload speeds to match the speeds that I’m purchasing from my internet provider. It was easy to connect to my incoming internet cable line and to my Wi-Fi network router. Once I registered the necessary serial numbers with my provider the modem started up and all of my connected devices are running and streaming at lightning fast speeds. I highly recommend the Arris SB8200!
