Normally, I am very particular about watching a Sci-Fi movie but this one was very interesting. I liked the mistique and intrigue about what was to happen next. It is a riveting movie that keeps you spellbound. I recommend it to anyone that likes a good mystery in the Sci-Fi theme!

We have become very accustomed to seeing most every "encounter" film as humans vs. aliens. It's nice to see a film that does not follow this line of thought. The underlying plot is what makes this movie good. It may seem confusing at times, but the ending wraps up very nicely.

This movie put an unique twist on visitation of an alien species. The military angle on this was typical Hollywood. Any species that can come from light years away would certainly be able to handle anything we could put up for defense. However the new twist was very interesting.

I heard a lot of buzz about Arrival, missed it in the theaters, so I thought I'd check it out when it "arrived" on Blu-ray. Beautiful special effects, sounds great, thought provoking storyline, acting is good. However, be warned that this is NOT a "shoot 'em up" action sci-fi.

I was fortunate enough to receive this movie as a Christmas present and boy did it have me smiling! I’d seen it once before so I knew that I was happy to be able to enjoy it a second time! I’m also looking forward to perusing the special features!

In this mystery/science fiction film, a team of elite scientists race against the clock to stop an unidentified space ship of aliens from starting a war on planet earth. Amy Adams does an impressive job, particularly in a scene where she is trying to communicate with the creatures. You'll be captivated as soon as you press play

Watching this in the theater, I felt it was a thought provoking, yet confusing movie. Couldn't quite understand where it was going. Watching the DVD, I found it to be very nuanced therefore more interesting. This is one of those 'gotta watch it multiple times to get it' films.

Not action-packed by any measure, but it is intellectually stimulating. This is the kind of movie that needs to be watched twice: first for confused awe, and second for that "aha" moment. Distinct from director Denis Villeneuve's previous works: Sicario, Enemy, and Prisoners.

So this is another sci-fi fantasy film but it does provoke some thought. How would we ever communicate with an alien world if we did encounter them? Why would they even try to communicate? What would the message be? And would we be united or divided in trying to understand? Not a bad take on how to answer the above.

This is NOT Independence Day or some other blockbuster action "end of the world" flick. This is a very well made thought provoking sci-fi drama that makes you THINK! If that's your kind of science fiction, then this movie is for you. Amy Adams was spectacular in this role.

Enjoyed seeing the problem of communication with an alien species treated seriously, although the movie raises questions that it doesn't begin to address (which I won't address here because I think that discussion would constitute a spoiler if you haven't seen the movie).

I'm a sucker for anything extraterrestrial. But this was done so perfectly in my opinion. It kept me guessing until the end and delivers such a surprise that you smile once you realize it yourself. Amy Adams is terrific in her role. Wish it had done better at the Academy Awards but it's no doubt a winner in my book.

This movie blew me away by not being a conventional alien invasion type of story at all. It can barely be labeled as such really. Instead it's a deeper, more personal journey for the characters and a great example on showing the disconnection of humanity and the capabilities of unity we could achieve. Do check it out!

Arrival is a great film. If you love sci-fi and a film that's directed, written, and acted well, then this film is something you should own. I have a 5.1 surround sound system, receiver courtesy of Best Buy, and this movie gives my surround a great workout. The bass is incredible. I highly recommend this Blu-ray.

This is a "thinking person's" science fiction movie. It's subtle and through provoking and worth the emotional investment and time. There are no space battles or earth conquering aliens. Just people learning to find common ground in which to communicate and learn with and from each other. A great movie. See it again.

I saw that it won an Oscar for Sound (I think) and figured... "why not?". I was a fan of Interstellar and The Martian so another SPACE movie seemed right up my alley. I was very happy with my choice since all I knew about it was the movie trailer I saw during the Oscars. Great story... superb action (great sound).

I didn't know much about this movie when I bought it, and I was not disappointed when I was through watching it. Very well done movie with a great cast and well enhanced by effects. Definately happy that I now own this so I can watch it any time I get a hankering.

Although this is not a perfect film, it definitely is emotionally satisfying. Rather than relying on cliché tropes of the genre, Arrival focuses on the human element of the story, giving the film the emotional punch it needs to overcome it's anticlimactic ending.

I think that "Arrival" is one of the greatest and inspiring sci-fi films of all time and is also one of my favorite films of all-time. I also think that "Arrival" had a lot of entertaining and enjoyable action, mystery, suspense and drama including a really great and amazing cast and personal storylines as well.

Arrival is the antithesis of Independence Day. It's not a Hollywood blockbuster extravaganza, but an intelligent, emotional sci-fi drama. Amy Adams delivers her best performance to date as a linguistic specialist who develops a bond with the alien visitors. A bold, suspenseful film that will stay with you.
