Astro Gaming A40 TR wired stereo headset w/M80

This headset is the best I’ve used. Great sound and voice clarity I’m told by team mates is excellent. My last headset (a Turtle Beach wireless) received many comments of voice being scratchy or distorted. Not with these, perfectly clear. They are very comfortable as well with no pressure from the headband pad. If you’re on the fence about getting the Astro Gaming A40 TR wired headset due to price (they are a bit pricey at $200). Buy them, you won’t look back in regret.

Best gaming head sets i own

I love these head sets. I play warfare continuously for hours. My only concern is the battery life. With the headsets plugged directly into the controller my batteries last 2 to 3 gaming sessions at a time. I use to use energizer ultimate lithium batteries too. The way I had to fix that situation is to switch to rechargeable battery packs. Sound is great. Everyone can hear with no problem through the headset mic. Very comfortable.

I've had a lot of headphones and none of them have been as comfy as these. I can wear them for hours and not even notice they're on my head! And the sound quality is very accurate and clear. I was kind of iffy about the design at first, but it's grown on me! The sound mixer that plugs into the controller is extremely nice to have and I love the design of that as well. Easy to use and very high quality all around

Excellent headset. Fit and finish are superb. Very comfortable for long gaming periods. Fantastic sound quality. Only reason its not 5 stars is that the Mixamp M80 isnt fully functional on PC. Volume controls and mute work, but not the voice/game adjustments. I use this on PC with Xbox aelite Srries 2 Controller and it fits perfectly.

Not entirely wireless as you have to plug into controller. Still, it’s very simple to use and I love the built in volume controls and and mute creatures easily accessible, with your thumbs. Sounds great and you van a,so adjust the feed giving preference to game volume or voice. Very comfortable too.

    Comfortable, But Frustrating

Okay, first off, it is a great headset for a console. The padding is very comfortable, sound is great, and so is the mic. First time I've spent over $100 on a console headset. My previous headset was the Turtle Beach Stealth 600's. That, was a terrible headset. Now, to the "frustrating" portion. Even with the "voice" volume set to the lowest, it still over-powers game chat, and because of the mix amp, you cannot make adjustments in the Xbox Audio Mixer settings. Also KILLS controller battery life, but that's to be expected for the greater quality. OVERALL: This is a great headset. I am sure I will find a way to adjust the chat/game volume levels eventually. I would say this is the best "Xbox" headset for the price.

Long lasting. I’ve been using these headphones for 3 years now and they are still in great condition. The removable ear pieces make so you can get new ones or wash them without getting the headphones wet. Great product

Sound quality is outstanding, I like the magnetic removable ear pieces. The headset is light but feels sturdy at the same time. They are very comfortable to wear for long periods. If you are in the market for a high end tournament ready product this is for you.

Awesome headset but the mix amp for the Xbox controller doesn’t last that long. I didn’t use it harsh nor bend it but started getting staticky and just ended up not working. But the headset overall great sound for music and gamin

It’s on the pricey side but it gives so much and more than regular headphones and the mix amp is a definitely the best accessory you could get with it.

    Strong upgrade from the A10

I've had a few headsets over the last several years from different brands. ASTRO has solidified itself as the leader in this department. My A10s finally started dying after about 15ish months, so I took the chance to upgrade even though I really enjoyed those. The A40 has a few more bells and whistles and is made of more durable material. The sound quality is crisp and clear. The addition of a stereo adapter is nice with its LEDs but unnecessary. It does give the headset a nice "at-a-glance" charm though. My only gripe is the cord is EXTRA short. If the controller is in your lap and you turn your head in any direction, you're likely to yank the headset off your ears. The cushions are lightweight and comfortable.

These headphones are fantastic for my needs. No batteries, nothing to have to keep charged. Plugs directly into the Xbox controller and the controls are perfect to easily control volume and chat/game audio mix without having to leave the game. Also a large easy to use mute button that lights up red so you know your muted. Game audio sounds amazing especially with the included 2 years of free Dolby ATMOS. Everyone I game with says the mic sounds great and they can easily hear me. They are very comfortable to wear for extended gaming sessions. Very happy with my purchase!

Quality product at a decent price! I’ve owned plenty of headsets for gaming devices and this is by far one of the most comfortable headsets to game with, it comes with three presets so I’m sure you’ll find one you’re comfortable with Also has a chat volume and game volume selector so you can find a comfortable mix between hearing your friends and hearing the game and the main volume dial in the center. It’s packed with a lot of stuff for a decent price also comes with a cord so you can plug your headset to your phone devices but you’ll need an adapter cable for your newer iPhone models.
