This Astro A40TR headset is excellent. Hooking it up to my Xbox One X was so easy. The Xbox recognized the headset with no problems. I really like the voice and game chat being separated so I am able to increase/decrease the volume of my choice to get the perfect balance. I wear glasses and the Astro A40TR headset is so comfortable to wear for hours without any discomfort. In my opinion this headset is well worth the money. I play games from COD WWII, PUBG, 7 Days to die, GTA IV and Fallout 4.

Headset has great audio. Very comfortable to wear especially when gaming for long hrs. You adjust audio and surround setting to your preference. Choose to hear more game volume or chat volume. Sure there's cables involved. Connecting headset cable to amp box, power cable and optical cable connect from amp box to console. No wires connecting to controller which is a plus. Best of all. No battery charge required. So you can Play without concern of a battery low noise going off in your ear.

Owned the a40 tr headset only and where great. I decided to get the a40 tr to go that extra step and was left with disappointment. The headset is great but the mix amp is not. It keeps cutting in and out and that is very annoying when running co-op multiplayer games. I have contacted Astro and it's the same thing must be something I didn't set up right. They tell me they stand behind the product and are trying to make my experience with Astro gaming great again, still disappointed for the amount of money I payed for the headset.

Surprisingly good because the sound quality and added mixer lets you find tune the sound to your liking. The downside is it does feel a bit cheap (to me at least) as it's almost entirely plastic. Feels like I might break it on accident if I drop from a small height, but is very lightweight which is what you get in return. Overall it's really good, but I wish it was a little bit cheaper as $250 for a headset is a tad bit expensive.

The mic on my A50s broke. The design is flawed and bound to break so the A40 are the way to go. Being modular, the replacement parts are available as well. The pre-amp allows for the custom EQ settings, once that’s dialed the headset sounds great and you don’t have to worry about battery life. I use them for my PC and Xbox and they’ve been great. My only complaint would be the mic is a little less sensitive which can be good or bad depending on your setup.

sold my A50's to get these A40 TR only because I was tired of having to recharge my headset after a gaming session. the A40's paired with the xbox adapter will allow you to bypass having to use the mix amp (which is now hooked up to my pc for when I use it). the sound and mic clarity over the A50 is noticeable to me and to my gaming buddies. overall I'm happy with the move to the A40's but just hate that they're white, but oh well...good product and can't go wrong with Astro

Astro has a great reviews for these headphones and accompanying MixAmp Pro. The overall build quality is excellent. Very comfortable and performs well. My only problem was the first unit I purchased stopped working the same evening. I exchanged the next day and haven't had s problem since. Astro sent me another USB cable no charge when I contacted them. This has been a common complaint. I'm glad I purchased these though and have no regrets other than the price but that's where the market is.

The sound that these produce is phenomenal. They fit nice and light weight. The mixer however, is an inconvenience. It's not attached to the headset or the controller. It is wired to the mixer as well so that gets in the way. The main issue is the mic. Playing with other gamers is a challenge due to the mic continually cutting out. Making it very challenging to relay info or even have a conversation.

I had the A50s and I was tired of constantly charging them. Also, the chord running from the A50s to the controller for chat started crapping out on me after less than a month. It would actually turn off my controller too. That was not okay. The A40 TRs though are perfect. Nothing plugged into the controller and the sound quality is amazing. It is great to be able to mix the chat and game audio to the perfect sound you want. These are definitely worth the buy. I can't go back to tv speaker gaming anymore.

My son loves this set. States the sound is amazing. He says the surround aspect is amazing and voices are super clear, no feedback. He loves them! Doesn't love all the wires, but deals with them as I didn't want the wireless system. It wasn't the $ difference, he is on line playing video games hours at a time, in addition to his cellular phone addiction. I did not want to add any more radiation than he already receives.

I had used astros before but getting them new was even better, they're very comfortable and sound great, can use for hours without getting a headache like with other headsets, gets a little warm on your head after awhile but that's expected, I like that there's no cord from the headset to the controller, I play cod and destiny and in multiplayer you can hear everything, a little pricey but completely worth it, only downside is they don't come with a case anymore

You get what you pay for and these Astros are 100% worth it if you're a serious gamer. The build and sound quality of these are amazing with comfort that let's you game all day and the mix amp is amazing you can fine tone any sound. It comes with preset settings but you can connect it to your PC and customize sound and build your own preset that suits you for different games. Highly recommend

Mix amp is a must. Quality headphones and comfortable. They are not wireless so unless you are playing on a monitor you will have issues using these headset on your TV in a living room. There are better headset out there that will provide better game play sound but these works well. I don't use the simulated surround sound and prefer playing without them. Update firmware on the mix amp and turn your mic monitoring all the way up.

I love Astros, so I was definitely looking forward to this headset! My set up doesn't limit me to a certain console (I use them for both PC and consoles) so I chose this because I like the white color compared to the black. I can't tell you how CHEAP the white plastic material feels on this $250 headset. It's just nitpicking, I know, but I went and returned the white headset for the black one and I am MUCH happier with spending $250. Hope it helps :)

Best Gaming headphones I have purchased so far. They fit comfortable enough to where they feel like they are not there. The sound quality is outstanding, feels like you are in a movie theatre also has amazing bass (for those bass lovers). Mic amp pro is a great addition. Allowing you to control the volume and control if you want to hear more of the game or more of party chat. I strongly suggest this if you have the money. They are worth every penny.

I have always had turtle beach head set, but decided to try astro just because of all the hype. 1. These are the most comfortable headsets I have owned (which is a lot). especially with the available mod kit I dont think there are any more comfortable. 2. sound is really good but not quite as good when compared to my T.B. elite 800. The pre-made custom sound profiles are very limited. You do however have the option to make your own profile. That is nice.

By far the best headset I have ever owned. There is always mixed feelings with changing to a new headset but after a week there was no turning back. Very comfortable headset and superior quality of play with the mixamp. Always been a turtle beech guy but not anymore. Also, make sure you plug your optical cable in all the way on your council. I had trouble with that at first.

A50s are garbage they don't hold a charge and I could go on. Go with the a40s with mix amp80 or the a40 TR much better the sound is great you don't have to worry about charging and way more comfortable than the a50s. A40s with mix amp 80 and the a40 tr you can change out the mic and so on and customize it a bit we're you can't with the a50s. I like the a40 tr over the mix amp80 cause of the 7.2 surround sound.

Overall Sound is great. I've owned them for about 1 month with 0 issues or complaints. You may find the out of box settings are good enough for you but I needed to adjust the EQ and mic talk back feature via the PC application. After you have the sound quality you want via the EQ settings in the app there is no need to hook it back up to the PC for adjustment after that point.

If you think gaming is great with "Tortise Sands". Be prepared to have your Ears be Wowed wearing Astro's. I loved my Friends Astro's that have the Mix Amp that connects to XBox Controller ( A- or 4.5*'s) But spend the extra $50 for These Astros with separate MixAmp (A+ or 5*'s). Blows away the sound of any "Tortise Beach" I've spent money on. Not to mention the Quality / Durability is 5x better than all the "Beaches" that sit broken in my desk drawer.
