This is my second time purchasing the headset, the first time I ordered it new through Gamestop and the MixAmp stopped working just hours into using it. Would not turn on or react to any connection whatsoever. The second time buying it, new through Best Buy, the MixAmp is very glitchy. It will freeze for absolutely no reason just in the middle of my game (or whatever you use it for) and I have to unplug the power and plug it back in to get it to work. This was a daily issue but I seemed to break it in because it hasn't happened in the last week or so.

These Astro A40TR are the real deal if you want the best sound quality no matter what game your playing or even movie your watching. When talking with my friends they say they can hear me very clearly and with no static obviously because this is a wired headset. If you don't have a desk you can still use this headset from your couch living room area but beware there are two long cables that will go across your living room. Other than that the only complaint I have about this headset is the wire that connects to your headset and mix amp it gets tangled alot later on while your gaming, it's ok but I just toss the cable over my shoulder and it's not an issue anymore. Hands down best headset I ever owned I strongly recommend!

I use these for a blend of gaming and entertainment (movies/ music) and love them! They perform twice as well as my previous pair (Astro A40). The cups are very soft and can be worn for hours on end. The sound quality is superior to most other headphones I've experienced. The one slight negative is that the cable that connects the headphones to the Mixamp is a bit short, but it's manageable.

Okay so I was really excited to get this headset. I splurged and bought it after a year of contemplation. Well I tried it for a couple of weeks and it sucks! The sounds settings revert themselves, discord needs to be restarted every time I connect to a server. CSGO sounds settings need to be reset every time I launched the game. Big old pain.

I had the prior A40's for the xbox360 and found them to be the best for xbox360 surround sound. I assumed that this new A40TR would be just as good or better for the xbox one but I was sadly mistaken. The TR stands for "tournament ready" which means you would have to have a group of guys/girls all in the same room with 4 (four) of these A40TR headsets linked together "daisy chained". This is the ONLY way you can hear and speak to your team mates. The A40TR does NOT allow you to speak nor hear people on xbox live!!!! This is because there is no connection to the xbox one controller that dictates the back and forth of voice over the internet. If you are a professional first person shooter (FPS) who travels only to tournaments this headset is designed for you. If you are not a professional FPS player and wish to talk and play over xbox live; like Halo 5, DO NOT buy this headset. The headset you will want is the Halo 5 special edition surround sound A40's with the M80 mixamp which DOES plug into the xbox one voice input on the xbox one controller. This allows you to hear and speak to people on xbox live.

    The Best Headset

After purchasing another headset and not being satisfied, we returned them and purchased two sets of these. I was hesitant because of the price but after thinking about how much money I've wasted and will continue to waste until I found a headset that would hold up, I decided I had nothing to lose. We bought these knowing that if we didn't like them Best Buy would let me return them. Well, let me say that I didn't return these and me and my husband both agree that this headset is the best sounding and most comfortable we have ever owned. It was worth the money! Do not listen to reviewers that say you cannot talk on Xbox live with these. You can and I do. You don't need an adapter or to use a daisy chain. Matter of fact, if you use an adapter you will lose sound coming from a controller because your Xbox one is built for you to connect directly to it to get the best sound. So don't be fooled with the headsets that connect to your controller via an adapter. You will have sound quality that is poor. I know because I tried this with another headset prior to my Astro A40 TR headset purchase. Anyways, to setup this headset, We followed directions and watched a YouTube video explaining exactly what to do. You setup and then go into your Xbox one settings and change to Dolby surround and make sure the button on your headset mixer is pushed in and is red. Setup for one headset was about 15 minutes and that included a sound check with Xbox live and talking on your phone through the mixer on the headset. I love that I can plug my iPhone into these! I would recommend this headset to every gamer whether you are casual or pro. Also, there is a Mod kit coming out for these that will help noise cancellation.
