I was looking for something that would compare to the I-Pad but lower in price and found it in this product. It's my opinion I made a excellent choice. Love it!

A very nice first tablet experience

I purchased the Asus Transformer TF300T after doing a lot of research into tablet computing - particularly budget tablet computing. As a former Android smartphone user (and current iPhone user), I was initially hesitant about going back to Android, but the Transformer appeared to offer a far better value proposition than an iPad or iPad Mini for my uses. I have had the tablet for a little over a month now, and I'm so far very satisfied with my purchase. The overwhelming feature of this tablet is its beautiful screen - it's huge, colorful, sharp, and very bright. It's so bright that I rarely keep it above 25% brightness. The main issue I've noticed with the screen is that the default Asus customized settings call for it to adjust the backlight based on screen content (color, etc.), which is great for saving battery but can cause some vaguely noticeable flicker on pages or apps with a grey background. I usually leave this feature on anyway, as the flicker is not terribly annoying. The viewing angles are decent; I can comfortably rest the tablet on my lap or a table and still view the screen while sitting up without too much loss of brightness or color shift. The battery life of the tablet is quite good. I can generally get about 2 days of average use out of it, although pumping some of those gorgeous nVidia Tegra enhanced games through it will wear the battery down within a day. Still, it's long enough to rarely be a hassle. The ergonomics of the device are decent - the textured back plate feels nice under the fingers, and the shape is nicely contoured. I've noticed it can be a little weighty when holding it for long periods of time (like when reading a book or watching a movie), but that's to be expected from a tablet with this screen size. The screen is a fingerprint magnet, but you can't really tell when the unit is on, and it includes a very nice cleaning cloth that takes care of it quickly. The fit and finish is ok - the seams between the screen bezel and the outer rim of the chassis could be tighter and straighter, but they're not terrible by any means, and the device doesn't feel cheap or too delicate. My unit shipped with Android Jelly Bean (not ICS), and so far, I'm enjoying how Android has come along. This may be my only real problem with the unit - Android still lags in some apps, sometimes heavily. It usually comes around, but there are a few apps that occasionally lag so much when you first start them up that Android assumes they've crashed and asks you whether you want to force close them (they do come back to life if you just tell it to wait 99% of the time). It's something I haven't been accustomed to since switching to an iOS phone, but it's not nearly as laggy as I remember Android being, and for the most part, it's more of a momentary annoyance than a detriment to productivity or enjoyment of the product. The settings in Asus's flavor of Jelly Bean are very well layed out - most of the quick settings you'll find yourself using the most (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, screen brightness, etc.) are just a tap of the clock on the task bar away. Asus's addition of a lockable task bar is also very nice - it keeps you from registering unwanted taps when playing games or reading. The stock software keyboard is a bit under-powered (and slow) for a tablet, but it's easy to install a superior replacement from the Google Play app store. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase of this tablet. It's replaced my laptop for almost every task short of graphic design and programming. It's got features (like a micro SD slot, HDMI port, and optional keyboard dock) that I have yet to explore but enjoy having around in case I decide to use them someday. And for the price, it's hard to beat this if you're looking for a 10.1" tablet.

Insane Deal for what you're getting...

Software Developer and general Tech. Enthusiast here -- I have to say, I am really wondering how experienced some of the "short battery life" reviewers are... This specific (TF300T) tablet is absolutely amazing! The 1.2Ghz Nvidia Tegra 3, quad-core processor burns up almost everything else out there, and short of the 1GB RAM, the added cost of the keyboard dock, and its size making it a BIT awkward to carry around there is nothing any experienced user can complain about. Let's start by shutting down the battery-life comments. When I purchased this product I was shopping with my wife. Knowing I wasn't going to have an opportunity to really charge the tablet any time soon, I managed a 5% charge over 30 minutes hooked up in my car (this is due to my car's low output, the tablet charges very fast -- roughly 1.5 hours to reach a 100% charge -- connected to a wall outlet.) I just wanted to fiddled for a few minutes before it died, but I was blown away! I followed her around the mall for an hour and a half, using their wireless connection, downloading apps and setting it up just the way I like it. I was amazed. Obviously I was only browsing online and downloading apps, but who can knock a tablet for that? Later that evening I charged it fully and then sat down to really dig in around 11:30 PM... I stopped fiddling and realized the time at 5:30 AM -- the battery was at a solid 60%... I turned it off, went to sleep, came back and used it again the next morning, handed to my wife and she fiddled too, and we used it back and forth for another 10 hours before it alerted me that the battery had reached 5%... That's 16 hours of actual usage before it needed charging, and I likely would have gotten another hour or so if I had not decided we'd burnt enough time playing. Keep in mind this is WITHOUT the keyboard dock! I can't imagine what someone would be doing to drain the battery in six hours, but we were streaming Pandora, watching Netflix, playing 3D games, browsing the web, and downloading tons of apps... Today I am confidently using it to test my android apps... Just trust me, if a developer tells you something is worth the purchase, you can take his or her word for it! Well, I was going to make this longer, but I think that covers it. Graphics are up to par, screen response and feel is very similar to the iPad, quad-core leaves no room for doubt, 16GB... meh, acceptable, 1GB RAM, little low, and JELLLLYYY BEEEEEAAAAAAN! It comes with Ice-cream Sandwich installed, but updates to Jelly Bean as soon as it has network connectivity and 15% battery. Just can't knock it, just CAN'T. Later!

    Excellent all around tablet

    Posted .

I bought one of these early summer and have used it extensively, both at home for web surfing, emails, everything a full size computer will do. And I have used it at work to take notes. I don't have (Or want# a keyboard - When you get that you are making it a mini notebook. This tablet has the ability for you to write on the screen with your finger #I prefer a stylus#. It is an excellent addition. I read electronic books and magazines on it - and am very pleased with the screen resolution. I have watched videos. I don't really like doing emails but it works - I prefer a full sized keyboard for that as I touch type. This will do 90% of what the average person uses it for. What it won't do is spreadsheets or writing papers. Its lightweight and good battery life make it an excellent choice. Comes on quickly. There are tablets with higher resolution screens. If you are one of those people who are more interested in the latest gimmick #Such as "Oh, the TV is so thin!" rather than how the picture looks this tablet is not for you. If you want to really use it, then consider this one. The internal speakers are medicore - the headphones jack sounds fine, however. Which is what you woudl expect. \

    Great Product!!

I bought this tablet about a month ago and have been extremely happy with it. It has handled all tasks very quickly for me and the graphics are top notch. Some of the pre-installed apps are very cool, including My Net and ASUS Cloud. The battery life of the tablet is great as well. I am able to perform moderate to heavy use of the tablet for at least (2) days before it needs a battery charge. The only issue I have found with the tablet so far is that Adobe Flash Player is not compatible with it at this time. As a result, you are unable to play most internet videos. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints. You can't beat this tablet for the price.

For the price it is a fair value, but it does have quirks. It needs a delete button instead of just a back delete button. The optional keyboard accessory may resolve the problem, but I use the virtual board. It makes it difficult to delete large portions of text. I have also found that some apps or not compatible, but work on my android phone. I paid a fraction of some of the other tabletson the market, so I am not surprised with it's faults. Overall it works for what I need and is a fair value.

Great tablet but hard to figure out

    |

I am aware that the quality of the tablet is very good, especially with the docking keyboard that allows you to type easily and efficiently. I also love how you can use the touch screen in conjunction with the keyboard. So if it's easier to point to something, do that. My main gripe is that I was hoping to use it with excel spreadsheets but have not completely figured out how to do that with the apps available to buy or download. That is the biggest disappointment. BTW, there is a PDF manual available on line but it only covers the basics--not very helpful.

the real owner's manual is a 100+ page download from the Asus website that takes the biggest part of a black ink cartridge making it about a $20 booklet that I had to hole punch and put in a 3 ring binder.. t5he alleged manual that comes with the unit is 99% safety stuff so they can say they met the legal obligation of informing us of mostly common sense stuff; nothing but CYA for Asus. the virtual keyboard is so much better than my iPhone or a 7" tablet that it is much easier to use. I decided to buy the optional keyboard docking station, and I like it, but the price tag is terrible. I got mine for $99 on sale but regular price is $149 or more depending on where you find it. all that being said, I still really like it as now I have the flexibility of using it as a tablet or a netbook. I do wish it had the sound of the new KIndle Hd stereo speaker system though what is has is not bad.

This is a great product for the price. I had have an iPhone, but wanted to try an android product because it was cheaper. This device is easy to use. I have used it to watch movies and the picture quality is great. My daughter and I have used the camera to take pictures. I was surprised by the quality of the photographs. I also like the note typing program which I could use on the road as well. The battery has also lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. I would certainly consider buying other Asus products.

first of all i am typing this review on my tf300.now for my review, overall iI love my tablet over my ipad mini. both are completely different and have there own pros and cons. tf300 is a pleasure to fiddle with, it's fast, smooth and responsive. people are complaining that it doesn't support flash, but I'm sure they have figured out how to get it by apk and downloading Firefox beta, do that, now you have flash. i also like the fact that it has a slot for a micro sd card. very useful. it's not to heavy if people were curious. reason i bought this tablet was also for heavy gaming meaning Google play games, she's, next, Sega, play station 1 and so on, tegra 3 does a superb job. speakers are all right it gets the job done. my overall experience has been great no problems what so ever except one, which for some is not a big deal. screen is not gorilla glass nor scratch resistant. and i hate screen protectors.

    Best tablet available

I got this during the holidays on sale and it has been the best tech purchase I have made in a while. I enjoyed using it just as a tablet but recently got the keyboard dock and enjoy it even more Asus has sent out 2 firmware updates in the time I have owned it which is a good sign. I am an avid Android user who normally roots my devices and use custom roms but this one is running the stock OS and couldn't be happier. Battery life is as good as the latest iPad (own one of those also) on the balanced battery setting. I use performance for gaming only. The keyboard dock is a must if you want to do some serious work. The Polaris Office suite it comes with is quite robust. The keyboard was recently reduced in price so grab one quick.

Solid Tablet for the money. I bought it for my mom b/c she said she wanted a tablet--but I was afraid that she wouldn't like the 'typing' of a traditional tablet so I wanted something that could convert to a laptop with the keyboard attachment. While this tablet isn't exactly a Lamborghini, it's at least a Corvette at the price of a Ford Focus.

Great tablet for new tablet owners

I am very impressed with my Asus tablet. It has many of the features that iPad has, but for much less. It is really easy to get started and the graphics are great. My This is my first tablet and we compared this and others in store with the iPad. My only complaint is that a lot of the apps I have on my Android phone & iPod aren't available for the version of Android that comes with the Transformer tablet. Hopefully, Google Play will catch up.

Overall this is a great tablet. The battery life is much longer than expected. It charges really fast. With the intergrated cloud storage you can add a lot more to the tablet. My kids find it easy to use and like being able to stream their favorite movies. I don't make purchases like this a lot, so i was happy that it worked so well.

Paid way more than the current offer, still happy.

I purchased 2 of these 6 months ago for way more than the current price. The wife uses hers for games a few hours a day. We have had no problems with them what-so-ever. Good battery life, fast and responsive. It won't replace my desktop, but I am seriously considering losing my laptop. Only thing I ever used it for was to Skype, now I use the tablet. At $299, better get one quick if you are thinking about it. Great product, wish I had got them at this price.

I absolutely love this tablet. I've only had it for a few days now, but its been perfect. I did a lot of research and was on a budget, and this one fit all my needs, especially since it was on sale at the time. The camera is great, the swipe typing feature is great, I can't think of anything wrong with this tablet. And I know what Im talking about, I sell tablets for a living.

Very happy with tablet. Great Value

I have had my Asus tablet for a month now and so far I have had a good experience. For $300 this tablet is an excellent value. I also purchased the keyboard dock for $100 and it was well worth the investment. Compared to the ipad, which my wife has, this tablet is a much better value. I wouldn't necessarily say that it is better than the ipad (iOS runs a litte smoother than Android), but considering it is $200 cheaper you can't go wrong and you will be happy.
