    Light Chrome Productivity Laptop!

Compact effective productivity laptop! This is a light, compact, Ryzen 7320C 4-core/8-thread, 4.1ghz powerful processor, married to 8gb of RAM (LPDDR5, laptop memory), with a light 128gb hard drive storage space (NVME M.2 SSD, meaning VERY FAST). Since most of the parts are not heavy duty, you get GREAT battery life in a single charge. First thing's first, this is NOT a Windows laptop. So you will not be using Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. Please have this in mind before purchasing. The way I would imagine how you would use this computer is what you need to achieve through a web-browser such as Chrome. For my use case scenario, my company uses a web-based cloud computing software, known as Epic. I have to log into this system, to make reports and edit files. These reports then execute through the cloud to other Epic systems, and to other coworkers to fulfill these orders. Because all of this is webbased, this is the perfect laptop. I am able to add in all the chrome extensions, it runs everything smoothly without hiccup, as if I'm running Chrome off of my desktop Windows system. When I'm done with my work, I close the different tabs, and watch some youtube and netflix. Works GREAT! The touchscreen is clear, responsive and vibrant, the sound is commendable. A nice way to end work-time. To push the limits further, I opened a few web-based games, although not as popular anymore they still exist, and of course the system was perfect. Pros: Compact, productivity machine Keyboard clicky and responsive Mousepad accurate and responsive 10+ hours of web-based productivity Screen is amazingly clear, vibrant and responsive Multiple and easily accessible ports Works as folded tablet Cons Audio quality Although compact as a laptop, heavy as a tablet May need some getting used to maneuvering in ChomeOS (again, this is not a Windows machine) Bottom line : if you have work that's webbased, and need a long lasting machine so you can do work while you're on vacation, this is the prefect machine. Familiarize yourself with chromeos, there's no Windows button, shortcuts will be different. When work is completed, you're able to watch webbased streams, such as Netflix or Youtube.

    PERFECT FOR STUDENTS!!!

The ASUS - 14" Chromebook CM 3401 is a great all-around Chromebook that offers a good balance of performance, battery life and features that are perfect for students. It's powered by the AMD Ryzen 3 7320C processor, which provides plenty of power for everyday tasks like browsing the web, streaming videos, working on documents and even a little bit of gaming. The ASUS CM3401 offers the AMD Ryzen 3, which is a more powerful option than other Chromebook offered in this price range. The Chromebook also features 8GB of RAM which ensures that you can multitask with ease. This Chromebook also features a 14-inch WUXGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which provides clear and sharp images. The keyboard is backlit, which is a nice feature for those who like to work in low-light conditions. The touchpad is also large and responsive, making it easy to navigate the Chrome OS interface. One cool feature of this Chromebook is that this can be used as a tablet, laptop, or any way your heart desires because this is a 2-1 Chromebook, a tablet and laptop. For audio and video, the laptop features built-in Harmon and Kardon speakers, front facing camera with privacy shutter and built-in microphone. In terms of battery life, the Chromebook can last up to 10 hours on a single charge, which is more than enough for a full day of use. This makes it a great option for students who need a laptop that they can take to class and use all day long. Ports: • Two USB-C ports • One USB-A port • HDMI port • microSD card slot • Headphone Jack Overall, the ASUS CM3401 is a great option for anyone looking for a powerful and affordable Chromebook. It is well-built, has a long battery life, and is packed with good features and options. If you are looking for a Chromebook that will be perfect for your kids or students, then this is a great option.

Well made Chromebook - Great for College or Work

I have been using a Chromebook for about 5 years now with my first being a 2-in-1 just like this ASUS CM3401 14” Chromebook. My first Chromebook was a premium tier device, and this ASUS appears to be of a similar caliber. It does not look or feel like a cheap Chromebook my kids would bring home from school. Rather this feels like the type of device that would be perfect for a fresh high school grad heading off to college. With that in mind I was happy to play around with this device, and even got some feedback from my partner’s oldest child who is soon to be college-bound. Specs CPU – AMD Ryzen 3 7320C Quad Core 2.4 GHz (boost to 4.1 GHz) processor w/ integrated graphics graphics Memory – 8GB LPDDR5-5500 Graphics – AMD Radeon 610M (integrated on CPU) Screen – 14”1920 x 1200 60Hz FHD (WUXGA 16:10) IPS with 300 nits brightness Storage – 128GB NVME SSD Ports – 2X USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with Power Delivery and Display Support / 1X USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A / 1X HDMI 2.1 / 1X microSD Slot / TRRS 3.5mm Jack (headphone and mic support) Audio – Harmon Kardon speakers Webcam – 1080P with array microphone Dimensions – 12.58 x 9.26 x 0.81”; 4.08lb Network/Connectivity – WiFi 6 (802-11ax) / Bluetooth 5.3 Design The design of the ASUS notebook is well executed. The other shell feels solid with a certain amount of heft and nice feeling materials. The shell appears to be made of plastic throughout but has a nice surface texture that will resist looking smudgy. The Ponder Blue finish looks sharp and the shiny metallic blue hinges finish it off well. The inside continues the use of plastic for the palm rest/keyboard area. The laptop runs really cool so I haven’t felt any hotspots in the keyboard or bottom while using it. Overall, the design looks really sharp and professional. The layout of the ports is pretty typical for devices nowadays. A USB-C port is on either side of the body while the single USB-A port is on the right and the headphone jack, HDMI port, and MicroSD slot are on the left. The switch from laptop to tablet is pretty smooth – the hinges work well and provide enough resistance to maintain screen position while not impeding the transition. The trackpad and keyboard are automatically disabled when you make the switch. To lock the screen you just have to tap the power button on the side. Honestly it’s pretty easy to use as a tablet. Performance The quad core Zen 3 7320C uses 4 Zen2 cores, which feel plenty fast and agile while still being efficient. Its only 15W TDP chip, so cooling loads and power draw are nice and low. I really didn’t notice any laggy or sluggish operation under normal usage. I tried my best to load it up with Chrome tabs, a video playing on Youtube, and a couple of other things before it started to drag a little. In any real scenario I would never have this much going on, so for my uses it was plenty fast. The 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM also gives the notebook plenty of room to grow over the years. Your only limitation will be in gaming or graphic design loads, but I think this will be more than enough memory for what this device will be used for. Display The 14” 1920 X 1200p FHD IPS touchscreen display looks great. It has a high gloss finish like you would expect in today’s touchscreens, and it has good off-angle viewing. The border around the screen glass is basically nothing, but there is a black border within the screen that is .3” on the sides and about .45” along the top to give the webcam room. The screen clarity, and sharpness were pleasing to the eye were both good. Text on a document is sharp, and the screen is plenty bright while using it in a decently lit room. The image reproduction looks good enough as well – the colors aren’t as bright/vibrant as they would be on a full sRGB display with HDR, but they look pretty good to me. Watching some shows on Netflix and Hulu I didn’t have any complaints with the picture quality or the contrast. The multipoint touchscreen is very responsive, and easy to use. It was accurate enough to use in tablet mode without a stylus, and playing a few mobile games were easy to navigate. The only thing that caught me up a bit was the screen feel. It doesn’t feel as good as my phone screen which allows my finger to effortlessly swipe around. Rather it grabs a little more – even more so then a few other 2-in-1 screens I have used. Keyboard and Trackpad The keyboard is a ten-keyless design (no number pad) with black colored backlit keys. The backlight easily illuminates the letter/symbol on each key as well as the outline of each key. The illuminated keys are friendly on the eyes when using in the dark, but I did not see a way to toggle off or dim/brighten the backlight. The keys have decent actuation length of 1.4mm which is a little longer than my other Chromebooks. I prefer the slightly longer distance because I am used to typing on a full-size mechanical keyboard all day, and laptops with really short key distances are difficult for me to adjust to. The keys themselves are nice and soft with a really quiet actuation. As far as notebook keyboards go its not too bad. The trackpad is really solid. It picks up my inputs right away and easily handles multitouch gestures. The bottom edge clicks easily enough along the whole length. It is also body color matched with a satin surface texture, so it blends in well. Its also nearly flush with the surface, so when flipping over to tablet mode the trackpad disappears nicely. Sound and Webcam The webcam included on the notebook sits atop the screen in that thicker upper border. It has a nice, physical privacy shutter that slides over if you aren’t using the camera. The camera itself is a 1080p cam which is a nice resolution to have for video meetings. There are still plenty of Chromebooks and laptops with 720p cameras still being released today, which I am glad this notebook did not use. The camera has pretty decent quality and FOV. It’s low light performance isn’t too bad, but it does start to get a little grainy if you go too dark. Compared to my Logitech C920s webcam the image quality is similar under good lighting, but depth of field isn’t as good. For Skype/video calls I think the camera is just fine. The array mics sit about an inch on either side of the webcam and provide decent sound. Background noise was slightly attenuated, but no better or worse than other laptop mics. My voice was picked up just fine and had enough sensitivity to remain clear while talking at low volumes. Sound production is handled by the Harmon Kardon speakers which fire out of the bottom of the body near the front. The speaker sound, while coming from the bottom, does a good job of not being muffled by the notebook sitting in my lap. The sound is concentrated at the front speaker openings, but sort of emanates from the entire bottom. The sound clarity is good for speech/dialogue and day to day tasks. The bottom end is pretty limited, so you really only get mids and highs. To that point the mids and highs are good and don’t sound tinny or anything like that while listening to some music. The lack of bass though is an unfortunate downside, but that is something difficult to pull off with thinner frame laptops. Overall, I am pretty happy with the ASUS CM3401 Chromebook. The aesthetics are pleasing and the color is a nice departure from the white/grey/black color scheme of most machines. I really didn’t find anything that I disliked with the notebook, and I haven’t ran across any issues whatsoever. Battery life has been excellent – going on 12+ hours on a single charge. The notebook has felt snappy and the touchscreen is nice and responsive. I can definitely see a notebook like this being the perfect choice for a kid heading off to college because it has enough power/speed to last years, and the 14” size is easily carried between classes.

The bottom *half* of the screen stopped working just two months after the warranty expired, and the top half of the screen also started flickering. If you decide to purchase this, make sure to use a credit card with extended warranty benefit.

I purchased this during a Labor Day sale and got it brand new for $279. The suggested retail was over $200 more and at the price point I got it for, the features were outstanding compared to other brand offerings. Features include the AMD Ryzen 3 7320C processor, 8GB Memory and 128GB SSD. The battery life is far superior to Windows based laptops. It's got a backlit keyboard and typing on the keyboard is a pleasurable experience. Construction is solid and the screen is very good if you turn up the brightness a bit. It can be used as a tablet but I prefer using it in laptop mode as it's a bit big and heavy for a tablet. I'd like it even more if it was a bit lighter to carry around as it weighs over 4 lbs. But I guess that explains why the laptop is so sturdy. Also, one thing missing that I wish it had would be a fingerprint reader for signing on. Just a few weeks ago, I found out I was being upgraded to a Chromebook Plus and the specs on the one I purchased appear to be exactly the same as the new one marketed as a Chromebook Plus at $499.

Ausu 14" 2-in-1 Chromebook Plus with Ryzen 3 7320C. It's a perfect Chromebook in my opinion. It's super fast with multiple Tabs / Apps / E-Mails / Android-Apps going on simultaneously - seriously. Never had any speed issues with the Ryzen 3 Processor and 8gb RAM. The display is pretty good. Keyboard is really awesome - don't feel like tired at all even with all day typing on this keyboard. Battery life is really solid with at least 8 hours on heavy use. I have used many Chromebooks in last 12 years including Samsung, Lenovo, HP, Acer and Asus (and favorite is Acer 713 but as it's getting aged out, the batter is not lasting longer. The only issue I have with this Asus is it's slightly heavy which I know up front (so can't complain about it). Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and strongly recommend this at this price range.

This is my first dive into a Chromebook which I have been tempted to try for some time. I had been concerned about performance and the learning curve but a reason came up to give it a try. I have two notebooks, one Dell and one HP, the later for remote working, the other for personal use, finance, volunteer work etc, etc. Also have a kindle fire, a Samsung Tab 4, two Paperwhites, and a Pixel 6. Rest of the family is on iPhone and Macs, not me. Why would I need another device? Well I've started to pursue a side gig career as a freelance writer. So I wanted a device totally separate from work and other life digital activities. I wanted a tool that was only for writing. I chose this device and am so happy. Beautiful design, fast, clear, great wide keyboard, which is important as I have big hands. The screen is great visually and good for touch, backlit keyboard for middle of the night work. So easy to set-up, all my Google stuff came over easily. All in all very happy with this device and I really like the ASUS - 14" Chromebook - AMD Ryzen 3 7320C - 8GB Memory experience, nice to get away from Windows for awhile.

If you've ever used the Asus Flow Gaming 2-in-1 series laptops, such as the X16 or the X13, this computer feels identical to those in terms of build quality, tablet mode, and the two-in-one aspect, which is a good thing. The shockingly good price for all the features you get with this beast is amazing value, even though it is just a Chromebook. In fact, it's probably the best Chromebook I've ever seen or used. The fact that it has two USB Type-A ports and two USB Type-C ports, both with power delivery and display port out, is great. The micro SD card slot is also a nice addition, offering a multipurpose solution for expanding your storage needs if you're not using cloud storage. The trackpad feels great and is responsive, and the clicks are solid and feel good. The keyboard is equally impressive, feeling just as good as one of their $3000 computers that I also own. The backlit keys are bright and look great. The screen has a 1920 x 1200 resolution, giving it a 16:10 aspect ratio, which is always nice. The speakers are surprisingly good, and they are done well by Harman Kardon. The weight is similar to that of a 14-inch MacBook Pro, making it very accessible and portable, even for younger school-age children. I had my son use this, and his first question was whether he could play Roblox without lagging. The answer is yes, because this has a Ryzen 3 chip and has a fan! But of course, this Chromebook can do so much more. With the full Google suite backing you up, you can rest assured that this can also handle any schoolwork necessary, as well as content consumption purposes, all for an amazingly low price. I'm honestly shocked at how good Chromebooks have gotten these days, and this is one of those devices where once you start using it, you just find one thing after another that works so well. Highly recommended!

This Asus 14" Chromebook so far has been quite amazing to work with in the short amount of time I have used it. It was very simple to set up from the beginning just logging into Chrome and you're ready to go. I love the way the keypad feels and lights up for ease of use in the dark. The Touchpad is very responsive and of a decent size. The Harmon/Kardon speakers sound wonderful, the display is clear and the touchscreen works great too. This Chromebook has two USB-C ports, one port on each side for charging with the included (conveniently small) charger. The manual says that it shouldn't be used with any other USB-C charging options which I was kind of shocked to hear. HDMI port, Headphone jack, MicroSD card, and USB-A port on the sides, power button and volume rocker on the sides also. Pretty fingerprint and smudge resistant coating. So far the battery has been charged once and after a couple days of use it's still at 50% which is quite amazing for me compared to other laptop experiences. I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a basic laptop who primarily uses Chrome or has an older Chromebook they would want to upgrade to this is a great little laptop.

I've been using Chromebooks for years and this is the best one I've owned. Grabbed it on Black Friday & couldn't be happier. The build quality is very sturdy, the keys & touchpad have a nice feel & are quite responsive. Plenty of memory & horsepower to open a couple dozen Chrome tabs (because who doesn't?). Battery life is phenomenal; I use it lightly all week long before plugging it in. If I were looking for things to gripe about, the hinges stick out below the body a bit when it's open which sometimes makes it awkward to open while it's sitting flat, and as others have mentioned, it's a bit heavy as far as Chromebooks go, but that's not an issue for me.

This is a great Chromebook - the Ryzen 3 chip isn't the most powerful, but it SIPS power. I used this computer to answer emails and surf the web for nearly an hour and it took less than 5 percent of the battery. That's crazy! (I don't think 20 hours is a realistic battery expectation, but you can EASILY exceed 10 if you're doing lightweight stuff and don't have the brightness cranked). 8GB of RAM isn't much in a Windows laptop, but is fine for a Chromebook and this particular model will get updates until 2031 so it has a nice long life ahead. The screen is brilliant for watching videos or work and the keyboard (which is backlit) is really great for typing. The Chromebook is heavier than I expected, which actually is good here - you can tell it's no toy - and I love the touchscreen and convertible form factor. OF course, like any modern Chromebook, it supports Linux and Android, through as one of few AMD Chromebooks at the moment, you might have to fiddle around to get the drivers working if you want to use the graphics cores (this isn't a speed demon by any means though, drivers or no drivers, but it's certainly snappy enough for daily use). Also, in case you're wondering, you CAN upgrade the SSD by removing the bottom (taking out the screws and then popping it off with thin card or other slim tool) - inside it's a standard PCIe Gen 4.0 2280 M.2 NVMe SSD. I installed a 2TB drive then used the Chromebook Restore tool to create a USB drive to reinstall Chrome OS - now I have lots of space for Linux apps and other local files. I can highly recommend this Chromebook if you're looking for something for work or school (if ChromeOS supports the apps you want to use - mostly if they're Android/Linux or web apps). The battery life and solidness of the build make it a great road warrior...that's just as happy to stay home and entertain you as well. Well done ASUS!

As a power user, I've never really liked Chromebooks. This one is making me rethink that. They've come a decent way from just being devices that have to always be online to function. The internals are pretty great. Sure, maybe it throws a fit when you try to play something like Genshin Impact on this machine, but for pretty much everything else the Ryzen 3 7320 and 8GB of DDR5 are a pretty good tag team. I've yet to have any sort of lag while using this machine - it's always responsive. The battery is super great, it lasts for a whole day of normal use. Playing Minecraft while on a Discord call will kill it in about two or three hours, though. The screen is nice. It's not *amazing*, but it's a Chromebook. You're not here for amazing. I wish the hinge was a little firmer so it didn't bounce while I type, but it at least looks good. It also doesn't feel cheap - I don't feel under the impression that I'm going to break it by switching to tablet mode and using a stylus. The keyboard is pretty good. The keys feel pretty normal for a laptop, and it doesn't look like the machine flexes under my keypresses. The trackpad is fine, I haven't had an issue with it, as is the touchscreen. I like the backlit keyboard as well - it's super useful in my capacity as a night owl. The array of ports on this device is actually enough to make it feel like a standard laptop. MicroSD, two USB-C ports both of which work to charge it, an HDMI output, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB-A port feels pretty decent for a modern system. I think my favorite part though is the software. Chrome OS isn't just a web browser these days, which is great because that was my main complaint about it. You can install Android apps from the Play Store, and the amount of apps it allows seems to have grown. 128GB of storage helps out a lot here, because you can install a lot of apps without feeling cramped. There's a flag in chrome://flags that allows the Files app to work with OneDrive, which is great since I have a subscription for more file storage space. There's a Linux system you can enable so that you can install Linux apps such as Discord or Visual Studio Code, or even Steam if you feel adventurous. Being able to do these two things I feel really rounds out Chrome OS and makes it feel like a proper computer than just a toy. The fact that this laptop says it'll continue getting updates until some time in the 2030s is also nice, because that means when I'm done with it I can give it to the next owner without worrying about them using an unsecure and incompatible device or installing another OS on it and having to to explore forums for hours just to find out that audio drivers flat out don't exist for it. Thanks to the advancements in Chrome OS itself, I've been able to use this laptop to do light gaming via GeForce Now or the Android app store, and some light programming and web development work. That's not really something I could have used it for in the past. I can even install Clip Studio Paint and use it for artwork, which is nice since drawing tablets with screens are expensive. Overall I think ASUS knocked it out of the park with this one. My one complaint is that they didn't include a fingerprint reader. I got this on sale and at that price point I'd recommend this machine over a similarly priced new Windows system any day, because most Windows systems of that price point will be pretty terrible. I'm not sure I'd recommend this at the full price point, though, just because for $500 you could probably find an even beefier laptop on sale. I'd honestly recommend this, with the exception being you really really needing the Windows version of Microsoft Office or some other Windows-only tools.

I've used ChromeOS since its earliest days and have used a number of Chromebooks through the years. I tended not to keep them as their limited use and subpar hardware held me back from making me use them regularly. This is the one exception, especially for the price. I managed to pick this up for $239 (open-box) and it was in like new condition. For that price, it's a total steal. I'm using this now to compose this review. As a primary user of macOS and iPadOS, this has been a pleasant surprise. Hardware: The combination of a Ryzen CPU, an actual SSD, coupled with (enough) RAM makes this for far better performer than the ARM-based Chromebook I got my son last year. I'm able to run a Linux environment and the native x86 apps fly like butter on this machine. Makes for a very versatile device. Build Quality: I was surprised how heavy this is (as other reviewers noted), but it makes for astounding toughness and premium build quality. I like Asus products (recently got a ROG Ally) and this is simply a quality machine. The backlit keyboard feels as good as my MacBook Air and iPad Pro Magic Keyboard. Again for what I paid for - even at a more expensive price - simply the best Chromebook I've ever got my hands on for less than $300. Screen: I like the 16:10 aspect ratio (1920x1200). Nothing really special as it's a standard IPS LCD display to me, but the size is nice and bigger than my MBA. Overall: This is likely the best bang for your buck Chromebook you can get today. If you don't need the stylus support of the higher end model, this the best Chromebook for regular, daily computing. Highly recommended.

This is my first Chromebook and I'm pleasantly surprised. I've been a Mac user most of my life for my personal computers and have used PCs for work. This is simple and easy to use. It's fast and doesn't have a lot of things slowing it down that I won't use. It's perfect for browsing the internet, checking emails, and watching YouTube or Netflix. It's a little heavy but it's replacing MacBook air which was extremely light. The keyboard is really nice as well. Would definitely recommend if you're just looking for something simple to browse the internet.

I'm a computer professional. I put in some of the ERP that run major Fortune 500. I don't waste money. I bought this as my carry machine. I have a laptop but it has just 1.5 hour battery life. The key for me to carry is long battery life and good to great performance. With 10 hours battery life and usbc recharge theres just the computer. No dongle/charger to carry. So, I bought on sale. $279. Great computer. Great performance (I check CPU Benchmark before buying), great battery life. Great screen. I love the touchscreen. GREAT keyboard. Great mousepad, I rarely use external mouse. Works really well in tablet mode. Close to shutoff and immediate turn on makes it work oh so well just to take notes. So only 3 minor quibbles. First, and this is a chromebook issue. If you store your docs on Google drive, like I do, it can be difficult to edit in a full version of Word, even if you own Office. You have to copy the file local or to OneDrive. 2) When you push the screen back past 90 degrees, it pushes down on the desk rather than being just a bit recessed 3) just a wee bit big to carry. If it was more even, rounded like my old Lenovo Duet it would carry better. Compare that to its ability to do anything a laptop can with big screen and keyboard its a worthwhile tradeoff.

I'm writing this review using the chromebook itself and I'm really enjoying it. I didn't enjoy much of Best Buy though, as once again the shipping dates presented on the website were a lie, and the packaged arrived looking like it had an altercation with a dump truck. Best Buy seems incapable of providing accurate delivery dates, so I'm a little miffed about that. On to the laptop itself, I mainly got this for writing stories on the go without spending too much on a "full" laptop. This thing is fast and gets me right into a google doc immediately without having to wait for anything, and I really appreciate that. The keyboard is also a lot better than I expected. I typically write on my home computer with a mechanical keyboard that has cherry brown switches. Most laptops irritate me with their keyboard, but I find this one pretty nice to use. Also surprising is the sound from the laptop is much better than others I have used. It's not replacing my home theater, but it's nice when people don't sound like they're talking through a tunnel. Only notable downside I can think of is that it is a little on the heavy side for its size. I personally like the weight of it when I'm writing on it, but less so when it's in my backpack.

This ASUS laptop swifts through most tasks on a sharp, fluid display all while merely sipping on battery. And Chromebook Plus AI features are the cherry on top. I would highly recommend this CM34 Flip CB to anyone who’s looking for an affordable, powerful, and smart device. The screen, at its FHD+ resolution and 300 nits brightness won’t wow anyone, but it more than gets the job done for the average user. Performance with AMD’s Ryzen 3 and Zen 2 cores is top-notch, and best of all, the fans rarely come on. The build is rigid, albeit a bit heavy, and it looks pretty good with its Ponder Blue finish. Keyboard and trackpad are solid as well. Battery life, however, is in a league of its own-this device just keeps going, sustaining hours of runtime even with medium-high usage. Overall, for $350, this is far from a bad deal. I would certainly go ahead and buy it.
