    Slow Low Power Windows PC

After getting the PC setup, and trying to use it, I don’t really have a good use for it. Its 2024 and a windows PC with 4GB struggles to do anything. It took forever to get loaded, and then trying to use it for simple tasks like browsing a website was a waiting game, with the PC getting stuck when I clicked on anything. I can’t imagine using it to do more then browsing simple websites. On the design side, besides the odd choice on the specs the general computer feels cheap too. The plastic doesn’t seem great and the screen is not very nice to look at. It also comes with a proprietary charger instead of USBC, though there is a USBC port. One the positive side, it is pretty light overall and you get 2 USB A and 1 USB C port. It also seems decently put together besides the material use. Overall I’m not really sure why you’d chose this windows laptop instead of a Chromebook or spending a little more and get a windows laptop that actually works. If for some reason you need a windows PC there are better choices especially with this using windows 11 in S mode that restricts the apps you can use. If this hits a price point and you need a windows PC I guess you could get it, but not something I would recommend.

      Dear Blahnika,

We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if it didn't meet your expectations.

On the contrary, lots of satisfied customers, having positive experience using the product, will agree with me that it is a decent laptop that runs light and basic computing applications, without compromising system stability and performance as long as Windows is up to date, open browser windows not being used are closed and the laptop has access to a stable or working internet connection.

This is a Celeron-based machine with small memory and small SSD disk. I purchased this as a "small, light, and good enough for my needs while traveling" unit that is not a fast performer, but also not a tragedy if it is lost, stolen, or damaged.

For the price it is a great computer. Comes with Microsoft for a year. The computer is cheaper than renewing Microsoft. When turning the computer in for the first time it walked me right through set up. Very easy. Got right on the internet without difficulty. It is isn’t as fast as other computers but for the price it works great.

Well it is not quite what I was hoping it would be. There are a few nice features but overall this has not lived up to my ASUS expectations. I have several ASUS laptops over the years, some gaming models and this just isnt living up to my previous experience. Lets start off with the unboxing, setup and feature observations. Like all new laptops I open, I always start with charging it first just to be sure there is plenty of battery life as I go through the initial set up. Once I let it charge I was ready to begin the initial set up. Tick tock tick tock…. It took nearly 2 hours for the initial set up to fully run. Several restarts later and it finally was ready to use. Out of the box it will run in S mode. Which is basically WIndows way of saying you can ONLY use apps from the Windows Marketplace store can be installed and run. Supposedly this is to keep things more secure and run better. But The experience already was super slow for me and website pages had a lot of lag loading and even key strokes weren’t recognized right away. So I followed the instructions to remove S mode…. But the market store wasn’t operating properly. I wanted a few days and tried again and then I could finally remove S mode. The keyboard is fine, keys are easy to press and interact with. There is no back lighting so in low level light situations this can be challenging to find the right keys. So a few days later I was trying to use the laptop again. I was able to download Chrome but again everything I did was super slow. BOOT time was slow, opening Chrome or any app was slow. Key strokes were not quickly recognized either.

      Dear PMurphy,

We do understand your disappointment if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance issue with the laptop.

To resolve the slow speed or performance issue, please ensure Windows, driver and applications are up to date. Keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. If these steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/. Also, while accessing web applications, please verify the unit has access to an established router and internet service is stable or working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. So recently picked this up when it was on sale usage as a Music streaming device functioning as a server. Using a laptop in this way for my purposes doesn't require a whole lot of processing power or memory or anything really, in essence the laptop is acting as a network-connected hard drive with attached screen. Some of the reviews on here and others I've read seem to indicate that the laptop is wholly inadequate for any use and furthermore is just god-awful and terrible. Well I have to disagree, I think it's a fine laptop when I initially set it up I browse the web and done some other basic things and performance seem to be commensurate with price. Meaning is it going to blow your socks off or set the world on fire as the best laptop ever made, no obviously not, but for basic things like surfing the web or sending emails or even watching YouTube videos or streaming Netflix or any of these basic things, the laptop functions looks perfectly fine and does it quick enough and satisfactorily. Typically on budget laptops like this and in general all laptops and computers I usually will uninstall and remove most superfluous software, I advise anybody getting this laptop to do that. With modern Windows it's not difficult to do and it does speed up the laptop considerably. Now I'm not talking about deleting software that is essential to the function of the machine, I'm talking about things like Spotify which comes preloaded or other types of applications like this which do tend to run in the background and ultimately as I said hamper performance. Ultimately my review is long-winded and becoming increasingly verbose, but truly a great laptop and gets my preferred budget recommendation when it comes to laptops, I've always liked Asus laptops across the various price points and this one is no different.

I love this computer, it does everything I need for school and recreation Internet wise. It will play Minecraft but the lag is unreal. I gave it a 4 star because even just using a web browser the device gets hot and causes it to slow down and become unresponsive occasionally.

My job uses various websites to track things like sales, inventory and labor, make orders, and create schedules and this is perfect for those things. I don’t have to save anything like forms or whatever, I do that at the computer in store, so the low space isn’t a problem and it’s max 3-4 tabs at a time so the low ram isn’t an issue and it handles that with ease. Perfect home laptop so I don’t need to go into my store to do all those tasks. Not a great laptop for people who need to download a lot of programs and run them simultaneously, but if your job apps are all browser based, this will be a good little laptop for you. Having a full number keypad within the touchpad is a neat little feature too for inputting inventory.

I love using it. performs flows well.l Typing on it is a breeze. the battery lasts 10 hours as it says.cuts on easily. Laptop is light and airy. light as a feather. Other than the speed of the computer, which is a bit meh at times, its very nice. The battery life is very good because it doesn't drain fast. I usually keep the brightness very low because I can't stand it being too high, possibly that's why, but the display regardless is very clear. I enjoy watching movies, writing, and reading. Since I don't game, or do any kind of big editing stuff, I would probably recommend listening to the other reviews who say this might not be the best laptop, but for little projects, such as writing assignments, PP, and downloading Digital Designs from sites like Canva, this laptop holds well.

Great Laptop, Bad Webcam I recently purchased an Asus laptop from Best Buy and overall, I'm pleased with the performance. The laptop is fast, the display is vibrant, and the battery life is decent. However, there's one major issue: the webcam simply doesn't work. It's a real letdown, especially in today's world where video calls are commonplace. Despite this flaw, I'd still recommend the laptop if you don't rely heavily on the webcam. Just be aware of this limitation before making your purchase.

This is a pretty decently designed laptop. I needed something cheap for a work from home job, snd it does what i need it to do, albeit slowly. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone that needs to do work that involves multiple tabs or apps, though. I do like the number pad on the trackpad, but it isnt as reliable as the regular number keys. If you need a cheap laptop for school or my specific work from home scenario that uses one website, this isnt a bad purchase. Anything more and youll hate it.

The ASUS 14" Laptop with Intel Celeron N4500, 4GB Memory, and 64GB eMMC storage in Star Black is a budget-friendly option suitable for basic tasks like web browsing, word processing, and streaming. The Intel Celeron N4500 processor offers decent performance for everyday use, though it may struggle with more demanding applications. With 4GB of RAM, multitasking is limited, but it's sufficient for light tasks. The 64GB eMMC storage is quick, though somewhat limited in capacity, so external storage may be necessary. Overall, it's a good entry-level laptop for students or casual users needing a portable, no-frills device.
