LAPTOP IS NOT GOOD. DO NOT ORDER

Well Built Budget Laptop

It is different and in a good way. If you are loooking for a laptop for basic Budget laptops can run a full gambit of quality and value. They either feel cheap, are slow, poor screen or not enough storage. This device goes against all of that.....except for storage. The computer also come installed with Windows 11 S. The S means you can only install applications from the Microsoft Store. No third party apps can be installed. This is good if you are worried about viruses but limits your ability to configure the machine. However, the limitation of the S operating system can be turned off. Pros * While plastic, a solid and well built feel * Good speed for a budget laptop * Solid keyboard that is responsive * Interesting 10 key built into the trackpad * HDMI port built in Cons * Only 64GB of storage * Only 4GB RAM (bare minimum for running Windows 11 efficiently) * Set up with Windows S (but that can be turned off if desired) * Laggy power on This is the best budget workstation I have used. If you are looking for a laptop with a solid build and specs, this would be the one to purchase.

Wallet friendly entry level laptop

Being inexpensive, it is loaded with everything an entry level laptop should have. With a 14 inch Full HD screen, it’s easy on the eyes. The 4GB of memory is sufficient to run streaming and web browsing apps. 10 hours of battery life kept it running all day for me. An HDMI port lets me run it on a large screen when I need it. A headphone jack and Bluetooth helps me enjoy games, music and meetings in private. At about 3 pounds, it’s easy to carry around. The camera works great on video calls. After the initial setup, it’s quite quick on startup. The setup is typical of any Windows system, going through the customizations and updates we’re familiar with. It comes with Windows in S mode. This restricts you Windows Store apps and Edge as a browser. If you need to expand your options, you can switch out of S mode. The 64GB storage was enough for simple needs. I had about 20GB usable after all updates were installed. With 3 USB ports, you can easily add devices for more storage and accessories. Used as a work from home system, it performed really well. If you’re looking for a budget friendly basic laptop, this is worth consideration.

Basic Compact Laptop

Big enough to see what you are doing and small / light enough to easily carry around. Before I go on, this is a very basic machine and suited for "light / casual use" Running more than one thing at a time can really bog down the system. This being said, if you are on a tight budget and only need access to email, web browsing, and light word processing, the Asus 14" FHD Laptop is a good choice. This has a lay flat screen and does not fold over completely backwards. The display is pleasant and bright enough to enjoy streaming content. As for sound, considering the price point it is good but much better with external speakers or ear buds. Charging is with a barrel connector and wall wart style transformer. I really wish this was USBC to make it compatible with just about everything else I have but I can understand this decision was possible due to cost. Not the end of the world but if I could change one thing that would be it. The form factor is quite satisfying in the hand. The cover seems to be metal and the base plastic. I am often concerned about rigidity but not with this unit. Picking it up by the corner does not affect the touch pad or produce false inputs. Actually feels quite solid! Using the keyboard is pleasant and the keys have good response and feel. The star of the show is the touch pad which doubles as a number pad. This works quite well but is hard to "touch type" as you are pressing a spot on a fairly smooth surface and keeping your hand in place without looking is not that easy. That being said, the one thing about this size of laptop is the lack of a number pad. I must say this is a nice feature for any small form factor laptop.

Nice cheap machine for running a lightweight Linux

Plan on spending another $50-$75 on a 500GB or larger SSD, but the slot is present for it and it is easy to install (you will need to provide the screw, though). The screen is pretty bad. but okay for non-photo office-type work indoors. 4GB is not enough memory for Windows 11, and it's a bit sluggish. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that Linux ran "out of the box" on this machine with no hiccups. I bought this machine to run a stripped-down "distraction free" set of programs (writing, coding -- no web/youtube/facebook), and it will do nicely.
