Overall this is a good buy. However there are a few things that I really don't like. First of all, the keyboard layout is so bad: arrow keys are small, frequently used keys such as DEL, INS, HOME, END, PGUP and PGDN, are all in weird position and I have to look at the keyboard to hit the right key. And the touch pad regularly misses some touches, very annoying. And last but not least, the CPU fan is too loud. Yes you can use the "silent" mode. But when the fans spin up, that harsh sound is very bad. But, other than the above mentioned drawbacks, this laptop is a very good high performance computer. I would like to recommend it to friends.

So when I first purchased this I did have some skepticism about how far I could go with just 8gigs of ram and the 60hz panel and about the potential thermal issues(this thing is almost a space heater on turbo). The performance I get out of this is insane im able to play pretty much everything I throw at it maxed out or very high graphically at 60fps or more with very few small drops once in a while when trying to render highly detailed maps or when a lot of action is happening but I think that's due to it being only 8gb single channel ram, I've had no throttling from from the heat. Honestly if your new to PC gaming and just want to get your foot in the door with the rtx 2060 and amd ryzen 7 4800 you're all set.

So far so great, best bang for the bucks. I upgraded the RAM to 64gb now this laptop can handle anything I put it through. Temp fully loaded is around 90 C so I got a laptop cooler which keeps it in the 80s C, farther from the 105 C limit of the Ryzen.

I am a Normal person that doesn’t know much about computer gaming. I decided with the asus tuff laptop after doing a bit of research. It performs wel playing games like Warzone, and flight simulator. Only problems I had was the Bluetooth sometimes didn’t work even tho it showed it was on. I couldn’t get my Xbox controller and speaker connected even tho they have be paired before. Second issue I had, almost all the time when starting up the laptop, it didn’t want to automatically connect to the WiFi. I had to run “check issue” button And it fixes the problem all the time, it resets the WiFi connection. Some how it stopped that problem and it’s working correctly. I would recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a decent gaming laptop at a affordable price!

Very good laptop, runs very fast and works well. Feels very durable and sturdy. I'm taking a star away from the rating because I was kind of let down that the screen is 60HZ. Overall it's a good laptop and works well.

Has been great for gaming so far. I did add extra Ram and an extra hard drive because I had them on hand. If you play a lot of different games you may want to opt for more storage space I have already filled mine.

Overall impressed with the laptop. Quick, sturdy, all set up for gaming as well as other needs as a student in online course. Would recommend this to anyone. First time with a light up keyboard as well so I'm kind of having too much fun with that

A few things to know before considering this exact configuration. 1) Powerful processor with 35W TDP. 2) Small battery, however there is a bay for 2.5 HDD/SSD. Sounds like an option if someone already has a high capacity SATA SSD drive. Battery life for "light office load" is about 2 hours (tested with minimal brightness playing youtube videos non-stop). Charging time to full is about 1 hour. 3) You must upgrade a memory to 16 Gb. That could be a challenge because a memory is 1.2V and you will mostly find 1.35V and it may run on 2666 instead of 3200 because there is no XMP profile configuration in the BIOS available yet. Do not buy an expensive memory, just find an exact compatible part. Some websites are selling those brand new if you don't trust e b a y. Check this part number: 8ATF1G64HZ-3G2J1, it is barely available. (memory info is attached) 4) Display is 60Hz, in some reports it has ~250nits brightness and sRGB coverage about 50%. 5) Construction. Looks great from outside. Very cheap touch-pad, don't think buttons will survive very long period of time. An Ethernet cable may get stuck in a port (same problem on two different laptops). Runs really hot, ASUS denies any allegations about the cooling, but the truth is always in the middle. 6) No WiFi-6. 7) Gaming. Good enough, however don't expect to run on max settings some video-intensive games. War Thunder benchmarks on "max" settings: (FPS average/min/rank) Tank battle: 68/56/4217 Tank battle (CPU): 57/45/3236 The average FPS on max is about 100 across all the gaming computers. So this laptop delivers about 60% of the average. Pass.

A truly excellent laptop. Design looks clean and back-lit keyboard is truly amazing to look at. Only complain is when running a high spec game fan can get kinda loud but its not noticeable when you have a headset on thankfully

Once you fully update the drivers and update the system it runs amazing, and also to use turbo mode make sure it is connected. I noticed running it on turbo mode it runs more faster.... but it’s fans are loud but they get the job done.

I've only run into a few games that this laptop has problems with on their highest settings. And I haven't tried any yet that a step or two down in the resolution won't then run perfectly fine with barely any remarkable loss of picture and sound quality. I do wish ASUS were a little more clear on the limited personalization ability when it comes to the keyboard lighting (all you get are 4 effects choices, a color wheel, and some effect speed "sliders" that are really just 4 way switches set to thirds. I also wish that the num lock button had an on/off light just as the caps lock does. But neither of these are minor cosmetic complaints. On the other hand, I do like the white wsad keys and the out of alignment placing of the arrow keys.

PROS: - Purchased @ $599 from MSRP of $999 (40% savings) - Ryzen 5 4800H is a beast and can handle just about anything you throw at it (8 Cores/16 Threads) - GTX 2060 running games/vr just fine. Ran Outer Worlds @ 60-120FPS on Ultra settings smoothly - Running 16GB Ram @ 3.2GHZ, can now have 10 tabs of naughty videos going on at the same time. Cons: - Fans run LOUD. (Using Airpods Pro w/noise cancellation to not hear how loud it gets) - If you perform fresh Windows install in the beginning, have to possible do BIOS update for ASUS included software. Overview: - Screen is good enough (60HZ, IPS), no complaints - Sound is adequate, using bluetooth headset for most activities - Didnt want to look for Asus Software, was hoping would stay regardless of fresh windows install - considering on reapplying thermal paste to see if would help reduce how hot this thing gets If you can find this for $600 - DEFINTELY. If you are paying $650 and up, there are other options you may consider

Just received the laptop after purchasing with $100 student discount. Had compared this to the Acer Nitro 5 with Ryzen 5 and Nvidia 1650 GPU. For $230 more, this is a much faster CPU with the Ryzen 7 4800H and signficantly more future proof Nvidia RTX2060, and 512GB of nvme SSD instead of 256GB. You are definitely getting more than $230 of upgrades. The build feels very solid, I like the brushed look on the keyboard casing. Because this has the smaller 49w battery, I can take my "old" 1TB Samsung 2.5 SSD and install it with the cables it came with. The only thing I plan to buy is another stick of 8GB of RAM to make it dual channel. I do have 2 minor "gripes" and 1 con about this laptop - Minor issue #1 the keys on the keyboard feel slightly small to me, this may be just be a matter of getting used to. My other laptop is a MS Surface Laptop 2, the keys are slightly bigger. Minor issue #2 is the edges of the casing - they are somewhat "sharp" not to the point it's cutting me but it's annoying enough that I have lines and imprints on my wrist area just from spending 20 mins typing this review. Again, minor but annoying. Issue #3 is well documented and I would say it's not minor but not quite a deal breaker either - the 60 hz screen is not the brightest. I'm compairing it to a 2 year old MS Surface Laptop 3 and that screen is both glossy and very bright, I believe close to 400 nits. This screen I've read is in the 200-250 nits range - full disclosure I've not formally tested either. I'm comparing it based on my non-scientific naked eye and this screen feels like my Surface laptop dimmed to 50% brightness. I'm not sure if this is going to bother me and so time will tell. If you are used to using your laptop in a dark(er) room, then I think it'll be ok or may not even notice. However if you are typically working in a well lit room or even outside, you will very quickly notice that the screen is a bit dim and when you go to adjust the brightness you will be disappointed that it is already at 100%. In short, the computing power of this laptop is second to none at this price, the only "pause" I have is the screen, which people have had mixed feedback (some say don't care at this price or don't notice, some say deal breaker). Perfect laptop if screen could be brighter!

If you're looking for a budget laptop with excellent performance for officework, this is that laptop. However, I wouldn't recommend this for gaming because the screen has 60Hz refresh rate and the battery lasts for about 1-2 hrs of gaming. You should've gotten a desktop if that is the case for the same price and better specs. If you can pay an extra 150, there is a version of this laptop with 144hz screen and twice the battery life. I will not recommend this for gaming at all.

First gaming laptop of mine. Im a desktop user and I prefer desktops as there are so many upgrades available and easy to fix. but when I saw this laptop on sale, with the Ryzen 7 and rtx 2060. I must say not bad for the price! I play Genshin Impact mainly on this and use ps4 controller with it using bluetooth or usb cable. Since it is a laptop I can play it anywhere in the house. If I want to play some heavy gaming I play on my Ryzen 9 /RTX 2070 desktop. Im waiting for deals on memory sticks and will upgrade it to 32GB. 8GB and 500GB is enough for now. Plan to add another 500GB later on. Love the casing on this thing. Looks heavy duty.

After having this for nearly 6 months, I have to say it's a good buy. The biggest problem is it tends to overheat if not enough airflow on the bottom. But still works great for a couch browser. Also something to note, I was only able to get this to recognize 32G of ram Linux Compatibility: I use EndeavourOS which is a distro based off of arch. It works great except video drivers were an issue. I think this is due to ryzen incompatbility because a desktop with a ryzen APU (4750) also had graphics issues. So make sure to download the Nvida drivers.
